37 Familiar

The moment Alexander's lips uttered the name, a surge of energy coursed through his veins. In that very instant, an intimate bond was forged between him and the black serpent, Leviathan.

The majestic creature, with its sleek obsidian scales glistening under the dim light of the dark cave, seemed to respond to the call, its onyx eyes shutting gently as if in peaceful slumber.

The very next moment, the all-too-familiar translucent screen that had accompanied Alexander since his transmigration to this world appeared in front of Alexander's face, bringing with it an astonishing wave of surprise.

Alexander, still holding Leviathan in his arms, stared at the details on the translucent screen displayed in front of him, his azure irises extremely wide from shock at the details that were displayed on the screen.

[Forge a familiar creature bond with Leviathan?]

[Yes] [No]

Alexander stared at the details on the screen for a few seconds. After all the days he spent at the Assyrian Royal Library, he naturally knew what a familiar was.

Familiars, enchanting creatures capable of forging deep bonds with humans and other species, possessed a remarkable versatility that extended far beyond mere companionship.

These extraordinary beings, harnessed for a myriad of purposes, proved invaluable in the heat of battle, offering unwavering support to their human counterparts.

Yet their talents extended far beyond the realm of combat, as they effortlessly evolved into the role of indispensable assistants for esteemed professions such as alchemy, blacksmithing, and runesmithing.

However, the task of forming a bond with a familiar proved to be anything but effortless. The complicated process of forging a connection with these mystical creatures was known to be challenging, as familiar bonds could only be formed with the untamed beasts of the Omrys continent.

Despite their reputation as wild beasts, these powerful beasts were not to be underestimated, for they possessed a primal instinct and an uncanny ability to outmaneuver even the most skilled warriors. Only the very powerful warriors could manage to fight against the beasts.

As a result of this, getting an extremely powerful familiar was even more difficult than forging a bond with a beast. After considering all these factors, many of the people on the Omrys continent decided that the processes for getting a familiar were very unfavorable; therefore, not many people on the Omrys continent had a familiar.

As such, one could understand why Alexander was so shocked at the details on the translucent screen in front of him, informing him that he could forge a familiar bond with Leviathan.

After coming to terms with the details written clearly on the translucent screen in front of him, Alexander did not ponder his choice for more than a few seconds before coming to a decision.

A flicker of contemplation danced across his face, but it was fleeting. Without wasting another moment, he swiftly made up his mind, his resolve unyielding.

'Yes.' Alexander answered in his mind, and the translucent screens in front of him instantly vanished and were replaced with another screen containing a different set of details.

[Familiar bond forged]

[Scanning familiar information]

[Scan successful]

After the scan was successful, the mysterious game panel did not send any other details to Alexander, making him frown in discontent.

'Shouldn't I be able to at least see the information about Leviathan that was fetched from wherever?' Alexander thought disgruntedly.

However, as soon as he thought about seeing Leviathan's information in his mind, a translucent screen containing Leviathan's information appeared in front of him, the abruptness of its appearance shocking him once more.

Familiar: Leviathan

Species: World Serpent

Rank: Basic

Level: 0

Master: Alexander Quinn.

'World Serpent?' Alexander thought to himself confusedly. Despite how much he had read in the Royal Library and how knowledgeable he had become, he had no idea what species of serpent a world serpent was.

Just as Alexander was about to further study Leviathan's information, a sizzling sound and the sensation of something burning on his back suddenly echoed in the silent cave.

He immediately turned his attention to the origin of the searing agony coursing through his body, but as he was wearing a black robe, he could not see or directly look at his back.

Furthermore, it seemed that it was only him who could hear the sizzling sound, as Duke Oliver was still staring at Alexander, who was standing still with Leviathan in his arms, clearly not hearing the sizzling sound echoing in the silent, dark cave.

The sizzling sound continued for more than thirty seconds before stopping. Although Alexander could not glance at his back, which was where the pain he was feeling was concentrated, he was glad that the intense pain he was feeling earlier ended quickly.

"Your Royal Highness, aren't we going to take our leave?" Duke Oliver asked politely, his voice incredibly strained from being exposed to the aura of a ruler-level creature.

"We will be leaving now." Alexander replied in an indifferent voice.

Although there were still some mysteries regarding Leviathan that needed to be solved, he decided to postpone satisfying his curiosity until he was back at his palace. Even though he did not show it, he was also struggling under the intense pressure the aura of the alabaster serpentine ruler-level beast was emanating.

Moreover, he was the crown prince of Assyria, which meant that he could not remain absent for an excessive amount of time.

The same could be stated about Duke Oliver, who at the time was the individual who was in charge of coordinating all of the significant Assyrian renovation projects. In the event that he is not available to provide oversight of the projects, it is possible that accidents might occur that would cause the projects to be delayed.

As soon as Alexander replied, Duke Oliver breathed a sigh of relief. If he spent more than a minute here, he would surely die from the intense aura that was bearing down on him!

Without any more delay, Alexander and Oliver made their way out of the dimly lit cave, with Leviathan being carried carefully in Alexander's arms.

Their destination — Assyria.
