4 Busted

“Your highness you call…” Mia was interrupted by Debby’s pissed expression.

“Why on earth are you a maid?” Debby questioned observing Mia’s expression.

“It’s a long story” Mia responded clenching her fists.

Mia busted into tears.

Debby was seriously shocked she busted into tears like that.

Whatever happened must have been very serious.

“I’ll tell you what happened”

“My mum was a normal citizen of Arthis, living her normal life and so on. My mum worked as a caterer. The previous royal caterer was fired for attempting to poison the king and my mum was employed to be the new royal caterer. She didn’t know that was one of the greatest mistake she made.” Mia busted into tears and couldn’t continue. Debby decided to postpone the meeting.

“Don’t take the evening off, come to my room to serve me this evening so others won’t suspect a thing. We’ll talk about this there, then I’ll know what to do.” Mia nodded, tried to clean her eyes as quick as she can.

“When you’re leaving, call Ella for me.” Mia nodded and left the room.

“Shift all my meeting to right now. I have to get back by 2pm. The ones that can’t be moved to right now should be postponed till tomorrow. All the important documents that I have to take care of today should be sent to my room, I will deal with them this night.” Debby commanded.

Ella bowed and left the office.

Debby continued her works until it was time for her meetings.

It was 2pm when Debby ended her last meeting for the day and was finally out of the hectic meetings.

She immediately went to her parents and siblings, they went round the kingdom; they went to the park, to the restaurant and so on. It was a fun time to spend with her family while she could.

They got back around 6pm because her family had to prepare to go back while she had to deal with Mia.

She got to her room and sent for Mia immediately, Mia came in minutes later.

“Are you strong enough to talk now?” Debby asked and Mia nodded.

“The king, my dad met my mum while she was his caterer and really loved her food. They got closer and closer until they married and my mum was pregnant of me. Unfortunately, I was a girl and my granddad, the previous king didn’t like that I was a girl and pressured my dad to marry another woman that would bear him a male because my mum became barren after me due to some complications.” Mia paused.

“Dad didn’t marry until another woman who was after his power drugged him and slept with him and intentionally let my mum walk in on them having sex. My mum was devastated and got depressed.”

“She got pregnant and my dad had to marry her. She bore a son and my granddad was really glad. My mother was neglected.”

“As time went by, my dad forgot me and my mother, only remembering only his second wife and her son, all this time, we were maltreated by her …until she killed my mother.”

“After she killed my mother, the whole kingdom forgot about me and my mother, the king’s first wife and daughter and I was maltreated till I had to escape and everyone forgot who I once was. The woman eventually killed my dad to become the Queen and take over the kingdom but before she could, she and her son died in that car accident coming from the King’s funeral.” Mia managed to finish the whole story but busted into tears again.

Debby was really confused, she didn’t know what to think anymore. The downfall of the king wasn’t his advisors but his second wife. She knows the advisors have something to do with this. She knew it in her gut.

“Were the King’s favorite advisors close to her?” Debby asked.

Mia nodded.

“They used to have some meetings without the King sometimes”

Debby smiled. She just got the confirmation she needed. Now she needs to investigate deeper.

“On my coronation day, you said you will be loyal to me. Explain to me what you meant.” Debby asked.

“After the attempt to assassinate you, two of the advisors have been pressuring me to poison you” Debby’s eyes were wide.

“I remembered their threat to me that day. That was what caused the sudden outburst then” Debby nodded.

“Do you know who those advisors were?” Debby asked.

Mia nodded.

“Advisor Williams and Velendez” Debby was not surprised about the Williams but was a bit surprised by Velendez. Now that she thought about it, she shouldn’t be, Velendez supports Williams no matter what.

“What was their threat?” Debby asked.

“To leave me on the street homeless and jobless, they’ll destroy all I have and make sure I don’t rise up again.”

Debby covered her hands with her mouth really shocked. Haven’t they done enough for the poor girl?

Debby was silent for a moment, Mia has really been through a lot because of people greedy for power, from being a princess to a maid of another queen. That must have been painful for her.

‘I cannot just let her go without protection, I must compensate her for the loss. I must restore her if not back to her former glory but close to. She deserved better’: Debby thought to herself.

“How good is your government and economics?” Debby asked.

“Very good, I was able to struggle to get a master degree in International Relations with Economics minor.” Mia said with a smile.

“Did you come out with first class?” Debby asked.

“Yeah” Mia nodded

“Why are you asking?” Mia asked confused.

“I was thinking of naming Vanquez the new Prime Minister after the current one has been either assassinated or executed” Debby replied thinking again.

How on earth are you saying that so casually? And why on earth are they trying to assassinate her uncle? Mia asked Debby in her heart, she really didn’t understand her queen.

“Some of the advisors are planning on charging him. According to the information Vanquez received, he embezzled money and sold some of our military strength to outsiders and almost caused civil unrest when there was no king, plus he offended Williams so they decided that enough was enough so it was decided by advisors to take him to court and get him executed if he loses the case or assassinate him and his family if he wins the case. He’s aware and is trying to get out of it but he has been cornered.” Debby said as if reading Mia’s mind and answering her question.

Mia was surprised that her uncle could have done that, he gave her cash to revive her mum’s shop and visits her once in a while. He never liked the king’s second wife and hid his identity from her, after all her uncle was illegitimate and was not recognized as the king’s brother but he was able to make it as the Prime Minister.

Since he didn’t want his secret as the king illegitimate brother to be out, she decided to keep shut about that matter.

“Are they aware that you’re aware” Mia asked.

“Advisor Vanquez found out I was aware and told me not to do anything about it that it wasn’t mine to worry, I have enough on my plate” Mia nodded.

“I was thinking of naming Vanquez the Prime Minister but since you’re good at Economics Government and despite all the struggles graduated with a first class in International Relations. I want to make you the Prime Minister, since Vanquez was once Prime Minister before he became advisor, you are to be his under his guidance for the next nine months, then you’ll officially become the Prime Minister” Debby said.

Mia’s eyes widen in shock and thought it was a dream. She pinched herself and was sure it was real.

“I’m trusting the kingdom in your hands as the Prime Minister, it’s a huge risk and the decision you’ll make will impact the kingdom negatively or positively. I hope you don’t betray me because if you do, I sadly have no choice but to kill you” Debby said with all seriousness.

Mia got on her knees and bowed.

“Thank you, your royal highness. I pledge my life and loyalty to you, by giving me this position, you just saved me from the threats of the advisors and brought me back to my glory, I’ll forever be grateful” Mia said. Debby smiled and raised Mia up to her feet.

“I owe my life to you Mia, you didn’t poison me when you were pressured to and I just restored you back, you are meant to be in this position not me, I’m just an outsider. Therefore, I will get to the bottom of this and solve this issue” Debby said.

‘I guess it’s time to use AROSA’ Debby thought in her mind.

Mia nodded and gave her a warm happy hug.

“Please come with your documents, your graduation certificate and background documents like your birth certificate, certificate of origin tomorrow so I can officially process your post” Debby said and Mia nodded.

Debby took out her phone and called Leon giving him instructions to have the second biggest suite in the castle prepared for Mia to move in, since she’s going to be the Prime Minister.

“Mia, you’ll be moving to the next suite in the castle since you’re going to be the Prime Minister. Which reminds me, how did you survive all these years?” Debby asked, Mia smiled.

“My mum was a caterer before she got married and she also owned a little shop, since she died, I inherited the shop and secretly began operating it, the money gained from the shop was what I used to enroll myself to university part-time. I later got full scholarship and then the money gained was what I used to take care of myself. I’m not poverty stricken, I still earn some cash once in a while from the shop which I was able to revive. It’s the size of a café now. I also attended the second best university in Arthis but I made it as secret as I could so they won’t end my life like my moms’.” Mia explained.

“I understood why you stayed when the previous queen was still alive, why are you still here? It’s been almost two years since she died.” Debby asked.

“Outsiders are not allowed into the castle, my mother was buried in this castle cemetery. I love my mum and always visit her every Friday evening. If I stopped working as a maid, I won’t be able to see her anymore and I wasn’t ready to part with her yet.” Mia replied

Debby checked the time on her wrist watch and saw that it was almost time to accompany her family to the airport.

Debby accompanied Mia to her new suite and then left for her family suite so she could accompany them to the airport
