1 Prologue

〔Royal Nightmare〕

〔Become your ideal princess of your own.〕

〔A kind and frail princess whomever prince and knight would be obliged to protect.〕

〔A princess who is set to become independent, not relying on any prince and become the Queen, respected by everyone.〕

〔What kind of princess do you want to become?〕

〔Do you wish to become a princess and obtain your own happy ending?〕

〔Press the "Yes" button to start your path to your happy ending.〕

'This is so cheesy.' I couldn't help but laugh at the game introduction.

'Obtain my own happy ending huh.'

I hoped real life was as simple as this. Where I would be able to follow a game-like system. No matter how difficult life may be, I'd be alright because I know that in this game, no matter what I do, I would have a happy ending.

〔Yes〕

〔No〕

These were the two options, and of course, like someone who already had a lot of things to do. I still chose to play the game and pressed the Yes button on the screen.

〔You have successfully started the game.〕

However, the first thing that I thought sounded cheesy would be a lot of fun to play. It was a matter of life or death for the characters. The visuals and art style were excellent. And even the fundamental concept and plot of each of the primary characters were too heartbreaking. It was so good that I played it so many times and got all three endings.

The first ending was the typical princess who lived happily ever after with her chosen partner.

The second ending was where the princess became the queen and ruled the kingdom. She ended the monarchy system and established a democratic rule.

The third ending was where the princess gave up her throne and status. She lived a free life free from any responsibilities and toured the world.

When I reached the three endings of Royal Nightmare, it was announced by the developers that there would be the fourth and final ending.

It was released during the fourth year of my junior highschool. Now it has been over five years and the final ending has not been released yet.

Despite this, I continued to play it from time to time. And no matter how many times I play the game, there were always fresh and hidden things to find.

However, something unfortunate occurred in the normally bustling street of the city where I reside. To begin with, I had already been unfortunate. That was why, even though I checked three times to make sure the stoplight for the cars was red...

It really made me wonder, why I was still hit by a truck.

'Ah.' It would be alright if I just flew through the air and bashed my skull on some concrete pavement. It would be a quick seconds of death.

However, the lower half of my body became entangled between the truck's enormous tires. I was not sure how long I'd been like this. My vision. It was tinted with crimson dots. Definitely my blood.

And I could even hear different sirens echoing.

Obviously, it was the cops and ambulances who eventually arrived to save the unfortunate me.

However, I don't think I will make it out alive. They were already late to save me.

Hah. Will I be able to finally see dad in heaven?

Or perhaps...

Since it was a popular trope in the reincarnation novels to be hit by a truck, I had these silly thoughts. In my last consciousness, I silently wished for three things.

First, I wish that my family would be able to claim my death insurance fast.

If it happened, Mom as well as those rascals—I mean siblings, would finally enjoy a full three-meals per day. Mom would no longer have to worry about how she will pay the remaining balances of my siblings' tuition fees or whether they will be able to enroll in the next school semester.

Second, I wish they would not be too sad and move on fast from my death. I really wanted them to be happy and move on.

Third, if I would be reincarnated, I wish to be reincarnated in the Royal Nightmare.

Despite the fact that it was a survival game and was a brutal one at that. However, it was the game that encouraged me to continue living my life despite the difficulties. To say the least. These were my final foolish thoughts...

If I would reincarnate there, I would be more useful than in this current life where I felt that I was nothing but a burden to my family. Only in my death, I would finally be useful to them.

However, fate really wanted me to be the unfortunate being I am.

I indeed reincarnated in the game.

However, I only remembered everything on the day the game would begin. And since I was just a no-name princess in some kingdom that was not even mentioned in the game, to me this game was, indeed, nothing more than survival along with the people I care about rather than reaching a happily ever after.
