1 ~The Beginning~

It had been a pretty normal school day. I woke up this morning to my alarm witch I did not ignore. I took a moment to admire my room. Pink walls, wood floor, rose carpet. I like to take pictures of the things and moments I take beauty in and put them on my wall. I have a nice desk and bookshelf. I like to read. My room is pink, red, and black. I got dressed and did my hair.

I put on a plain red short-sleeve shirt, a large black jacket with a pink heart, and black ripped skinny jeans. I would have put on a beanie but no hats in school. I put my straight brown hair up in a simple ponytail leaving my bangs out (Swoosh bangs not mushroom, left side). I also put in stud earrings that are dog silhouettes. I have freckles, brown eyes, and brown hair so I don't look too special. I don't have green eyes, short or dyed hair, curly blonde hair, more piercings, tattoos, anything like that but I am attractive. At least I think so. I grabbed my already pact red backpack and I went out of my small room into our hallway then into our living-room.

The hallway has three doors: my room, my parents room, and the bathroom. Our living room is pretty simple, Black, White, and gray. Gray floor, White walls, black tv, black couch, black tv stand, family pictures on the wall. All of them were taken from before we moved. Our living room is open to the kitchen and our back door is in the kitchen.

Simon greeted me, he is a German Shepherd something mix, maybe Husky, we joke that he's half wolf. He wagged his tail, "Nice to see you too bud I'm off to school." I told him scratching behind his ears. From what I saw my dad wasn't home and my mom was asleep. I went into the kitchen and I fed Simon. I also made myself some toast. Once we both ate I set off. We live fairly close to my school, we are in the country, so I walked.

I got to school on time with plenty to spare, put my bag in my locker and went to my first class. Roll call, "Rose Emraa?", "Here!" I say looking up from the book I already have out. I have one friend and I used to have a boyfriend. He left me for another girl saying I was more like a friend to him and we didn't have sparks, stuff like that. My friend's name is Rebecca Smith. We get along well but only because we are outcasts. Last year we had a whole friend group.

Sadly me and Rebecca had no classes with them only each other so the group split. My first few classes were good. I then went to lunch and ate at the end of a table with Rebecca. The rest of my classes were tiring. I walked home day dreaming of a nap. Once I got home witch is now I am not too surprised to hear my parents fighting. My mom is like a walking cloud as in empty where it matters and my dad is a depressed work machine. It wasn't always this way once upon a time we were a happy family living in a small town not too far away from were we live now. We moved and everything went to shit.

Mom went missing then came back acting like a robot, less like mom, and then dad started talking less and working more. They also started fighting. We don't even do family stuff together anymore. I sigh I thought I had buried these thoughts deep with my self doubt and with me questioning my sexuality. I am seventeen, I don't have time to deal with these things. I put my bag in my room after greeting Simon. The fighting gets louder so I put on some music (Devil Town- Cavetown) and I get out a book (Wilder Girls- Rory Power).

So far it's a very good book about a quarantined girls school that is on an island plagued with a virus disease thing called the Tox. I put my bookmark in my book and stand up when a loud crashing noise makes me jump and almost cry out. It sounded like someone smashing a phone, more yelling and a thump. Concerned I make my way to the kitchen. Simon follows me. The scene before me is very confusing. My mom is on the ground or who I thought was my mom and my dad stands over her. He seemed to have pushed her over.

Her phone lay broken beside her along with a wig. Her makeup is smeared and she has a swollen split lip and the startings of a black eye. Her black hair is tucked under a wig cap. That is not my mom.

"Dad, what is going on?" I ask confused, "Who is this? How long has Mom been gone?" He doesn't answer my questions and just says, "I will tell you later go out with some of your friends or something." I grab my camera, my phone, and my book as I leave out the back door. I go into the forest to find an adventure.
