2 Chapter 2

I looked at it for a moment before I remembered the promise to send Aili a picture once it appeared. Before I forgot, I took a picture and sent it to her with a caption.

Here's the picture; I have a feeling that I didn't need to send one

After I sent that, I plugged my phone in. As I was doing so, I felt a slight pressure on my arm. I looked at it and already saw that she wrote something

No, you didn't, now get some sleep we'll talk about this in the morning

I smiled, grabbing the face wash that I had along with the bag of cotton balls and erased the message. Afterward, I wrote her a reply,

I will, a promise is a promise, goodnight

And with that, I turned off my light and went to sleep

The following day I woke up to yelling and a soft push in my arm as if someone was writing

"What do you mean I'm not your soulmate," my stepfather yelled, and I groaned as I rolled over to check my arm

I woke up to my parents arguing about the fact that they aren't soulmates

I groaned once more as I heard my mother retaliate, "I mean what I say whenever I say it, we can't change what's on our wrists."

After that, I wrote down a reply to Aili,

Same here; sadly, parents still act like children when it comes to their relationships.

I lay in the middle of my bed as my mother and stepfather shot back and forth before I felt the feeling again. I finally sat up, knowing that I wasn't going to go back to sleep, and checked my arm.

Appears so. What do you say we both stop our parent's arguments and get ready for the day?

I smiled while erasing my previous reply and wrote one back to her

You got it, talk to you later

After that, I walk out of my room to see the two adults acting like high school kids, "Do you think I want this to happen," my mother asked as my stepfather paced the living room floor.

He opened his mouth as if to yell something else, but I beat him to the punch, "Hey, there is no point in arguing about this like high school relationships."

My mother looked at me in shock, "What did you just say?"

I looked at the two adults for a minute before replying. "There is no point in arguing about the fact that you're not each other's soulmates. The only things you can do are accept it and move on or mope around the house, only wishing for things to be different. Now, if you will excuse me, I will get ready for the day as I will be planning on where I will be staying with my soulmate."

After that, I turned on my heel, returning to my room to get clothes and take a shower.

When I got out of the shower, I felt some writing on my arm. I looked and saw that Aili had written something once more.

Call me when you're ready.

I smiled and finished getting dressed, heading straight for my room. Once in there, I wrote a reply on my arm.

Video or voice, sorry I was in the shower.

As I waited, I brushed my hair and ate some food, soon after eating, I got a reply.

Video

I smiled as I was already at my laptop, so all I had to do was uncover my camera, turn my sound on and call her. Soon enough, we were face to face with each other starting to make plans.

"So how are we going to do this," I asked, and she smiled

"That is a good question, and I am glad that you're one of those people who say we instead of singling each of us out," she said, and I grinned

"Well, I'm going to be cheesy and say that there's no I in team," I said, and she laughed

"You're right with that one," she said, "so you got any ideas?"

I shook my head, "Not right now, what about you," I asked as she had a face of realization.

"What about an Airbnb," she asked. "It's already going to be furnished, and we don't have to pay much for it."

"That is a wonderful idea," I said just as I heard someone talking off-camera

"Who are you talking to," Aili's mother asked; she blushed a little

"My soulmate," she answered, and I smiled

"Well, is it, someone I know," she asked, and Aili nodded, "Who?"

"You can see, we're on video chat," Aili replied, and soon I saw the face of her mother.

"Hello, Mrs. Ransom," I said, and she smiled.

"Hello Liz, you can call me Tiffany," she said, and I nodded as she turned to look at her eldest daughter. "I will help with the housing for you two since you are only college students and you both don't have a job."

Aili and I smiled simultaneously as we looked at each other, "Thanks, mom," she said as I followed suit.

"Thank you, Tiffany," I said as she left, "so when should we start moving in?"

"Today," she answered, "My suitcase is still mostly full from moving out of the dorm. I just need to take care of a few things, and I'll be on my way to come and get you. Just send me your address, and I'll be there soon."

I nodded, "Will do, see you soon," I said before hanging up

I sighed, getting up out of my bed; I grabbed my big suitcase from the bottom of my closet. After taking a few things out for the dorm, I started putting in as many clothes as I could, along with other necessities. Aili was knocking on the door as soon as I finished packing.

"Hey," I said when I opened the door

"Hey, you ready to go," she said, and I nodded

"Yep, let me just say bye to my mother and grab my suitcases," I answered, letting her into the apartment. "My stepfather wasn't too kind to her," I added.

"Take your time; my mother hasn't even sent me the address yet," she said, and I nodded as I started walking down the hallway to my mother's room.

"Hey, mom," I said, "I have to go soon, but once I am settled, I will try and help you find your soulmate."

My mother smiled as her eyes were red from the tears that she shed when my stepfather left her alone and sick. "You don't need to help me; you need to focus on your time with your soulmate," she said, and I smiled.

"I'm pretty sure she wouldn't mind helping you find your soulmate once we're both settled down," I said, and she arched an eyebrow. "You know her," I said, and her eyes widened.

"I do now," she said, and I nodded, "can I see her?"

I smiled then looked behind me to see if Aili had followed me; my heart skipped a beat when I not only saw that she did but one other thing.

She is so freaking beautiful, "Hey, you want to see my mother," I asked her after retaking my breath. I may have had a slight crush on her during the school year, but this time, it looks like she dressed up solely for me.

She nodded before making her way through the messy room, kneeling next to me. "Hey, mom," she said, having already met my mother in person and talked to her before this.

My mother smiled, "Liz will be good for you, I can tell, I can also tell that you will be good for her. You two take care of each other," she said, and I smiled.

"We will, mom," I said right as Aili's notifier went off

"That's my mom," she began after checking it, "it's the address to a vacation home that's already in the family."

"Your mother is a lifesaver," I said, and she smiled, "Hey mom, we're going to get going. Message me if you need anything."

"Take the key," my mother said, and I shook my head, "why not?"

I sighed, "He left with the suitcase, and the door was locked. I don't want you to leave the apartment unlocked if you have to go somewhere."

She nodded, "Well, you two be safe and message me when you get there."

"I will, mom, I promise," I said, then left the room with Aili behind me, making the same promise.
