The Lake

"Chen Chen!" Su Xin Yu tried running but her ankle did not support. Li Ming Hao also looked behind him. The river had merged into a lake, a big lake.

Li Ming Hao was lucky enough that he did not step on the wrong footing, otherwise he would have been the one to fall into cold water. It was probably due to Rocky too. If only, Chen Chen was not too impatient.

"Sister, I am alright," Chen Chen, despite his heavy weight, was quite good in navigating waters. "Oh!!" he exclaimed suddenly.

"What happened?" Su Xin Yu finally arrived, sweat pouring out from her face. It was not hot, she was just tired after walking briskly to look at what the three were making commotion about. She did not even get to look at the top, the water had started illuminating.

"Xin Yu! This water is so warm, I feel like I could just lie down here forever," Chen Chen had suddenly become too cozy into the water.

The blue luster coming from water was not even terrifying the guy while the three on the land were horrified. Was this some scientific phenomenon or something paranormal?

"B… brother, you need to get out of there, right now!" Su Xin Yu called out and extended her to him. But Chen Chen was being extra stubborn for some reason. He started swimming away to avoid the meddling of the two people.

"No! This feels so nice! Do you have any idea how tired I am from walking for so long? This water is just working won…," his eyes rolled back in the middle of the sentence and he stopped swimming. His body slowly started descent in the water, like a block of concrete. What was happening?

"Wait wait, Chen Chen, you will drown like this! What are you doing?" It was as if he was in some trance.

"Rocky, get him out," Li Ming Hao ordered the dog, who looked at her owner for a second and then jumped into the water without any hesitation.

She grabbed the guy and brought him back to the land. The lake immediately stopped shimmering. They performed CPR on Chen Chen, then and there.

"What? What? Where is my gold?" Chen Chen suddenly started flapping his arms, coughing out the water he had drunk just now.

"Can you be serious? Why did you stop swimming over there?" Su Xin Yu grabbed her cousin's collar. This guy was giving them too much trouble. It was frustrating and embarrassing at the same time.

"I… I don't know. One moment I was in water and the other, I was swimming in gold. I thought I had already reached the land!" Chen Chen was very aggrieved by his siter scolding him for no reason. He was okay drowning in gold to be honest, but he only saw piles and piles of gold.

"Did you see the blue light coming out of water when you were in?" Li Ming Hao questioned him as he patted Rocky for a good job.

"Blue light?" Chen Chen asked in confusion once again. Were these two conspiring against him and trying to prove he was mentally unstable? Where was his gold by the way? Just now, there were so many stacks of gold bars and then chests of jewelry. He had thought he had stuck the jackpot! What was he doing here, being chided by his sister?

"I think there is something in water which is producing illusions. I don't know why Rocky was not affected though," Su Xin Yu concluded. She slowly put her hand in water. The lake shimmered again!

"I had thought it was bioluminescence but it does not look like it," Li Ming Hao came behind the girl and took her hand out of the water, gently. The blue light from the lake disappeared immediately. Su Xin Yu felt flushed because of the close proximity of the guy.

"Just in case whatever it is, is dangerous," Li Ming Hao whispered in her ear. His face lingered a bit near her ear. Su Xin Yu experienced goosebumps but she thought it was due to water being warm and outside being cold.

"Let's try throwing some rock or something, will it glow like that again?" Su Xin Yu was very interested in the hallucinations that happened to Chen Chen. Was it just an one off case or was it happening for real?

She took a rock nearby and threw it in the lake. Nothing happened. It seemed like that light only came on when there was a living being or part of a living being in the water.

"Do we really need that light? We have this big guy with us, right?" Chen Chen looked at the two people sitting on the floor with slight disdain in his eyes.

Was something going on between the two? Why did this guy keep making passes at his sister? Or was it a strategy of the father son duo? Heh, ultimately, they came up with this shitty old technique of seducing the beauty? Shameful!

Su Xin Yu's eyes squinted on the change of tone of her cousin. She looked up and that was when the majestic tree came into her view. Her lips parted in order to exclaim the beauty of whatever it was but words failed her.

Rocky, on the side, dipped her paw in the water, creating the light again. She then barked, indicating something was there which they did not know about.

"What is it?" Li Ming Hao got alert as soon he heard her bark. There it was, on the surrounding, the same characters as the monolith before, glowing in red.

The three people gasped at the intelligent animal's discovery. It was something they all failed to see. Then, was this blue light something Su Xin Yu's ancestors had built on purpose?

"Good job Rocky," Li Ming Hao patted the dog before him who gave a provocative look to the girl sitting beside. 'Do you see? I am still my master's favorite!' and then went back to the happy girl on the pets from her master.

"We need to put something living in there constantly? I never thought we would need blue light like this for fluorescence," the girl looked around to get some ideas.

"We can throw a branch from this tree," Chen Chen broke a small stick from the big tree, without even asking anyone.

"Crap!" Su Xin Yu had a heavy feeling about this.
