5 Chapter 5: To your side

It was Hiori's group turn to go outside to look for resources, I didn't think much about it as she was with him.

Yuki is athletic so she's probably going to be fine

ten people including myself was left behind in the classroom, everyone is anxious as its been four whole months since the breakout, we are running out of food and water and can hardly get some yet no rescue arrived in our aid perhaps they were rescuing the 'priorities first' which are the elderly and kids but that is just my wishful thinking.

Inside the classroom the tables and chairs are formed in a circle, leaving a way in front of the doorway a small barricade to make them feel safe, in the middle of the circle kaede's group formed a small circle leaving one man from Yuki's group and Mumei alone.

it's been a while since the group went out, Mumei was getting a bit anxious she wondered 'did something happened along the way?'

normally it would only take them half an hour but today they were taking a bit too long...

just as Mumei was thinking of the worst possible outcome she heard a few knocks on the door.

hearing it she didn't let her mind think too far she sighed in relief, Kaede who heard it stood up and walked quickly at the door to open it.

As soon as the door opened the group went in quickly and couldn't care less if they bumped onto each other the last one who came in was Yuki then he immediately closed it. then a loud snarls and thuds followed.

Mumei looked at the group and seeing that one is missing she went to them and looked at their faces, her eyes wandered to the group a few times. seeing no Hiori with them she looked at Yuki with anxious eyes yet somehow hopeful gaze and asked ''where is she?''

Yuki avoided her gaze and shook his head

Mumei stood dizzily she held her head and said in a shaky voice ''wh- what happened outside?''

Yuki was silent

then his friend answered for him ''she... Hiori-san... she got bitten. a group of zombie suddenly ran towards us and she who's behind us blocked it then her weapon broke.. she blocked them with her arm... that's all I saw''

She looked at the rest of them and they nodded, she then looked at Yuki's back who's slightly shaking and his hands probably on his face.

Mumei stood there processing what she just heard, Kaede patted her shoulder she looked at him then she looked at the door.

the sound coming from the other side seems to lessen she shook her head shooing away any thoughts and readied herself as she walked near the door and grabbed a mop stick at the side, probably used from one of them. Yuki saw it all he walked up to her and grabbed her wrist with force ''what are doing?'' he asks

''I'm going.''

Yuki's eye twitched when he heard it but still said ''where?''

''to her.''

Yuki gritted his teeth then he said almost shouting ''that's suicide! she's a lost cause! she got bitten and we don't know where she is at all!!''

''...''

Yuki coldly snorted ''she's probably turned by now''

Mumei looked at him in the eyes then she said to him ''did you do it''

two hours ago before the group went out

the group of six including Hiori and Yuki prepares themselves, it might not be their first but it is still nerve wrecking to go outside where zombies are at.

the other four grabbed the bags and one of them also held a spare mop stick one of its end is pointy, Yuki held two of those sticks he inspected both sticks then after a much deliberation he gave the other stick to Hiori and without thinking much of it she accepted it.

Mumei saw this small interaction but didn't think too much about it.

Yuki slyly have a smirk on his face but it went away quickly.

Yuki looked at her but said nothing

Kaede who's near them could hear their argument he somewhat understood what happened yet he denied it 'nah, no way Yuki-nii won't do that'

Kaede lightly patted Yuki on his shoulder

Yuki looked at him then he let go of her

Mumei sighed in relief, it was a bit painful when he was gripping at her wrist she looked at it and it did leave a mark, then she said while rubbing on her wrist ''I'm still going'' her gaze was clear

Yuki looked at her his face was somewhat red ''you still choose her over me''

Mumei smiled then she slowly opened the door then she looked back and said to him ''I didn't pick her over you, it is her and will be her.''

after saying that she closed the door as she went to the other side and looked for Hiori

She couldn't-care-less what face he's making, all she's thinking about is where and how would Hiori be.

Kaede looked at Mumei's silouhette it disappeared in a moment then he looked at Yuki then he ask ''is it true? did you really do it?''

''maybe''

Kaede's eyes widened he grabbed him on his collar and said ''you're crazy!''

Yuki calmly said ''I am. if it's for her.''

''Fuck! If I was out there with you will you do the same?!''

Yuki stared at him coldy ''what? do you also like her? then I will do the same''

Kaede's hand clenched forming a fist then he punched him at his face ''you're fucking out of it!!''

Yuki's head turned left as his punch labded the side of his lips bleed then he grinned ''if you were me, you would do the same.''

Kaede said as he walked away from him ''If I were you I wouldnt''

Yuki snorted and said in low voice ''Bullshit''

Kaede mumbles tears forming at his eyes as he walked away ''I used to looked up at you... you were my idol as well as older brother... fuck it'' then he quickly wiped it before it could flow down.
