1 A new companion.

Dash pelted through the woods as fast as she could, chasing the small, feeble mouse that was right beneath her paws. It squeaked out in horror as she leapt forward and crushed the small creatures body.

"Finally!" She meowed out, taking a huge chomp into the rodent's meat. This was her first meal in days, and it felt amazing to be gnawing down onto something so juicy and tender.

Dash was a small kitten, with very fluffy black and white fur and bright blue eyes. Her small body was painfully skinny due to the lack of nourishment, however her mass amounts of fluff hid what was under her hairs.

As she finished eating her catch, she looked up and felt her pelt prickle. She was on a stone path, right next to a road. Dash never went near the human places, since they were dangerous and prey was scarce. A truck flew by, whipping her with wind and making her squeal with horror. She leapt to her paws and began to run back, but something smashed into her side. Her small body was thrown to one side and a crash came from the path. As she looked, a human lay on the floor, groaning. She felt her heart skip a beat.

A human, the most dangerous of predators, was right in front of her.

She leapt to her feet and scrambled away as quickly as she could, but hissed as a sharp pain rumbled through her back legs.

She kept pushing, crying out at every push of her hind legs. The pain was unbearable, but she could hear footsteps behind her stomping closer and closer to her tail. She spotted a barn in the distance, so she pelted forward and squeezed through a small hole in the wooden wall before the huge hands of the human grabbed her.

She collapsed into a heap of sweat and trembled weakly. Glancing back, she saw that her black and white fur was stained a wet red colour.

"Blood?" She murmured out, before jumping at a rustling noise to her front. She looked back to the barn, seeing that there was a huge black cat resting in a pile of hay. He seemed undisturbed by her arrival, but the noise of the barn gates opening made his head jolt up and he stood slowly. He was huge. He didn't amount to the size of a human but if he stood on his hind legs he could probably knock one over.

Dash stared in amazement as he snarled towards the gate, causing it to shut as quickly as it opened. The human's angry footsteps stomped away and the black cat flopped back into his bed, content.

"E-Excuse me..." Dash spoke from the shadows of the barn, and his ear twitched curiously. He mustn't have heard her arrival.

"A kitten?" He grumbled, his voice deep and rough. He stood, his green eyes gazing down at Dash's small body. He had scars covering his whole face and Dash could notice some under his thick pelt too. She watched as he opened his mouth and his large, killer teeth approached her.

She was picked up by the scruff and carried to the hay bed, where he began to lick her wound with ease. She winced and whined while he did, shocked by what was happening.

"Will you help me?" She squeaked out, and he nodded with a satisfying hum. He seemed to be inspecting her injury, and Dash finally got a good look of her leg, which had been ripped open mercilessly by the accident and the chase. She sucked in a breath, flattening her fluffy ears to her head.

"Kit, what's your name?" He asked, standing up and looking at the fluffy kitten.

"I'm Dash. And you?" She looked back, studying his muscular body and sharp claws. She thought to herself with shock. 'He could kill me any minute!'

"I'm Scar." His tail flicked. He seemed to be in thought. "I need to get you something for your wound. Can you stay here while I look?"

Dash nodded, gazing around the barn. There were a few groups of cats mingling amongst each other but none of them paid any attention. Scar padded away, nudging the door open and disappearing into the woods.

Dash lay there, nervously studying the cats. She didn't know what barn cats were like and never really talked to the other rogues. Her small body was nothing compared to their trained muscles.

Almost half an hour passed, and no avail, until finally, Scar trotted in panting.

"It took a while, but I got everything." He spat out a bundle of supplies.

"What is it?" Dash studied it curiously. There seemed to be leaves, a stick, and some sort of chewed up substance.

"There's leaves to cover your wound so it doesn't get infected, the stick has cobwebs on it to keep the leaves stuck and I made a mixture of herbs to help it heal. You can also use the stick to help you walk if it's too hard."

"Oh..." Dash furrowed at this new information. Scar got to work, rubbing in the herbs and sticking on the leaves efficiently.

"Do you want the stick to help you?" He asked, picking it up in his jaw. Dash nodded, so he grabbed some spare leaves, which were fairly thick and strong, and he wrapped them around her leg and straightened her leg.

"Thank you." She chirped. Scar lay down next to her, laying his head down. It was dark outside, and a small patter of rain was starting to hit the roof of the barn. A cat closed the barn door, scorning Scar for leaving it open, then lay down nearby and went to sleep.

Dash shuffled uncomfortably.

"You're staying with me, young kit. With an injury like that you wont survive out there." He nuzzled her suddenly, taking dash by surprise. She lay her head down and closed her eyes, not bothering to argue back. It wasn't like she had anything to do.

"Okay, goodnight Scar." She murmured and went to sleep.
