The Dungeon

Sona Sitri, the Student Council President, was sitting in her comfy chair.

She has been in deep thoughts for the majority of the day and the reason for this was the two documents sitting in front of her.

Tomorrow, her school will be having two new transfer students, something like this was quite normal, the reason this was not was because of the fact that they were coming from halfway across the world and with the recommendations of Rias's older brother at that.

Such a thing has severally piqued her interest. So, she decided to conduct an in-depth research on the transfer students.

And she was quite surprised when she found out who exactly they were.

Not everyday does she get an ex-royalty and German noble transferred to her school like this.

Still, this is slightly concerning, Germany is quite close to the Norse Pantheon, and she wonders if this girl had any connections with the Valkyries.

And at the same time, she also wondered if the male was a reincarnation of a previous Roman Emperor.

There were many famous ones in Roman history.

Even then, she could guess that the current Lucifer was sending these two to Kuoh so that his little sister could try and recruit them to her peerage.

Satan Lucifer is spoiling Rias too much…

Still, she wouldn't be lying if she wasn't interested in them joining her peerage.

And the best part is that these two come in pairs, she was quite amused that this would be the first couple in Kuoh academy…

The academy was co-ed for over three years now, and yet, not a single couple appeared.

For a second, Sona frowned remembering a certain pervert, people like him bring bad names to the males of the school, and just the school in general, if not for the fact that he possesses a Sacred Gear, she would have had him and his gang expelled long ago.

In the end, she could only sigh, her best friend is extremely lazy, if she didn't know any better, she would have branded her as a Sloth Devil.

In the end, Sona has decided to see them first. And if she likes them, then she will put her claim on them.

After all, Rias already has her claim on that pervert…

She even had to bend some rules because of it! That pervert would have been expelled long ago with the amount of complaints they got!

Still, it's quite annoying just how passive Rias was! Does she expect him to appear on a golden platter before her, and asks to join her peerage? That pervert doesn't even know that the supernatural was real!

In the end, she could only wait for tomorrow and see them for herself, Rias can keep that pervert while she will claim these two!

Julis was laying in her new bed, it was already past eleven and close to midnight, and she still can't fall asleep.

Too many things have happened today, or is it even today that she died? All these kinds of thoughts were running in her mind.

One such thought was that since the multiverse was real, the pink head wonders just how many different versions of her had participated in the Fiesta? How many of them got summoned to different worlds?

But, the most obvious thought that occupied most of her thinking was her current situation. The guy she is stuck with, and her role as his 'waifu'...

She was able to ask the white-dressed being just how she was 'picked up'. His answer was that she was summoned by a legendary token that could change one's life forever.

In a sense, it does, after all, a girl was added to his life, but when she heard about what kind of other things he could have gotten, it made her feel extreme pressure.

Items and abilities that could have easily made him a nearly divine being, one that is extremely overpowered, even in the world they are currently inhabiting.

'Right… the world which we inhabit now…'

Julis' eyebrow twitched for a second, she remembered what Alex had said about the world, and more specifically, the town they live in now.

She has realised that her position was already being threatened! And by two Devil Heiresses no less!

Still, she will not lose, for her, it's no longer just a simple boyfriend/ girlfriend thing, she has already died once, brutally.

The Princess was not going to back down!

~~~
While Sona was scheming and Julis was digesting her day's events, Alex was already asleep.
But, he was not dreaming…
[Do you wish to enter The Dungeon?]
[Yes] [No]
'So, I am guessing this is my means to 'grind' those tickets?'
Alex stared at the window which looked like it was pulled straight out of an RPG game.
He mentally selected the [Yes] option.
Moments later, he opened his eyes and was greeted with the ceiling of an unfamiliar room.
It was all stony, and the surface even looked uneven.
Slowly, he got up from the very uncomfortable bed, he looked around the room, then at himself, he was dressed in tunic clothes which reminded him of clothes from the medieval era, even the shoes he had on were made from some sort of leather.
After checking himself out, his gaze went back to the room, it was small, there was only the bed and a wardrobe, and a door that led to somewhere else.
Alex got up from the bed as he walked over to the wardrobe and opened it.
There was nothing there, not that he was really expecting anything in the first place.
After a sigh, he closed it, and then focused on the door, he slowly opened it and saw a room on the other side.
What was weird about this room was the fact that the place had proper lighting even though it had no light sources! No candles, windows, or even light bulbs!
This already screamed supernatural to him!
He decided to just forget the reason why this room was bright even when there was no light source, and instead, he focused on what was in this room.
The room had a plain table with a single chair, and empty bookshelves next to a wall.
On the other side, there was a… forge… but it was 'dead', it had no fire. Not far from it was a weapons rack with several weapons inside of it.
A sword, a mace, a bow, a quiver full of arrows, and lastly, an axe.
"Quite the barren place."
Alex commented as he looked around for more things. There were only two doors in this room, one in front of him, and one behind him, which leads back to the small bedroom.
"Well, this is disturbing, no armour rack?" The teenager said with twitchy lips.
After a resigned sigh, he walked over to the weapons rack, and like any otaku would, his gaze went onto the sword.
He approached the weapon as a pop-up appeared right above the sword.
[Steel Longsword]
'Okay. So, I get some game elements as well.'
His gaze went onto the other weapons and he saw that they were all steel as well, but the bow, or in this case, longbow, was made from Yew.
[Yew Longbow]
If memory serves him right, Yew was the best wood for longbows, and, so far, all these weapons looked good, at least to him and his non-existing experience...
After checking out the weapons, his gaze went back to the sword.
He grabbed it by the handle, and pulled it out.
His eyes slightly widened, the weight of it was… more than he expected.
While he was not buffed, he did exercise regularly, but then again, regular exercises meant nothing compared to what people used to do in medieval times.
The sword was a regular longsword, there was enough handle for someone to hold it with two hands, or just one if they were strong enough to do so.
It had no fancy decorations, a simple crossguard, but it looked sharp enough to cut, and it was not rusty.
After inspecting his weapon, Alex did a couple of swings with it, he frowned for a second.
The longsword was quite heavy, and with his current strength, he could only properly use it with both hands.
Still, if he wishes to grind for the lottery tickets, he should at least get a hang of this sword before he leaves the safe zone.
But, that's the thing, how much exactly does the 'safe zone' cover?
He didn't want to train inside this room after all.
So, he looked for the sword sheath and found it was on the weapons rack, right next to the sword.
Picking it up, he sheathed the longsword and started walking towards the doors in front of him.
Before he opened the doors though, he took a deep breath, remembering that this was not a game.
When saw what was on the other side, he was quite baffled and, honestly, terrified.
Around thirty metres away from the doors he just walked through were massive trees covering everything in the distance.
It reminded him of the megafauna which used to exist on Earth millions of years ago.
But what truly worried him was the fact that it was not even tropical or subtropical, nope, these trees reminded him of the Scandinavian pine trees, only super-sized and put very close to each other, making the forest naturally dark, even in the day time.
'It looks like it's morning. But can I even trust the sun's position in this mysterious place?' He frowned when he saw the sun in the sky.
He then looked at the forest, it was just like any Scandinavian forest, the leaves were at the very top while most of the tree trunk was bare of any branches.
The visibility is very bad, resulting in him not being able to see far into the forest, and, to top it all up, the tree trunks all look identical, making it even worse to try and navigate through it.
"Damn it all… and here I thought I would have some slimes or zombies to fight for my first dungeon!" Alex sighed and turned around.
All he saw were doors in a small hill wall, and not far from it, there is a hole, which was probably made for letting the smoke that would come out of the blacksmith's forge escape.
There was nothing else there!
"Right… do I even have the means to leave this place?" He said with a frown, he was very unprepared for this kind of dungeon!
So, he returned to the safe house, went straight to the bed, and tried to sleep.
But, he could not, the longer he stayed doing nothing, the more his body wanted to do something!
This led to him getting back up as he grabbed his steel sword and left the safe house.
He decided to get used to the longsword's weight first.
And so, he started doing practice swings…
~~~

Alex didn't know how long it lasted, but he stopped when his hands started blistering.

On his break, he looked at the sky to try and see how much time had passed, but what he saw made him frown.

The sun didn't move at all! It was still morning!

'Right.. either my exercise was extremely short, or the sun doesn't move here, at all. Then again, this could just be a pocket dimension with artificial light.'

Alex rested for a couple more minutes before returning to his sword swinging exercise.

He continued this for some more time, and on each of his breaks, he would always glance at the sky to see if the sun had stayed still.

And to his annoyance, the sun, or in this case, the light source, stayed in the same position.

After getting the hang of the steel sword, Alex decided to explore. At first, he decided that it would be for the best if he doesn't go far from his safe house.

After all, he has no idea what kind of creatures roam this forest, or even how big it is…

Alex progressed slowly into the pine forest, he was with extreme cautions, and took each step with maximum vigilance.

Always trying to look around, and making sure that nothing was behind him, and of course, making sure the small hill where his safe house was is always visible.

*CRACK*

Alex's gaze immediately went to the source of the sound.

In the distance, he saw a man-size wolf.

His eyes widened to a large degree.

He quickly turned around and was about to dash to his safe house, but then, he saw another wolf around 30 metres away!

'How the fuck did it get there!!!'

Alex gaze returned to the wolf in front of him, then, quickly, to the one behind him.

He started to move closer to one of the massive trees.

Alex started to sweat even more as he saw yet another wolf to his side.

'Damn… they are like ghosts!'

Once his back has touched the tree, he was able to take a very short breather, at least they can't now fully surround him!

And less than a minute later, he saw four wolves, as tall as him, stare at him very hungrily.

Their eyes were red and glowing with malice, it was quite a clear indicator that this place was not, by any means, normal.

'Shit, shit, shit, this is very bad!' Alex tried not to panic, but it was very difficult when there were man-sized wolves staring down at him!

They started pacing back and forth, trying to find the best angle to jump on him, and at the same time, making sure there were no gaps for Alex to escape.

And before long, one of them had lunged at Alex from his left.

The wolves had already realised that he was right-handed, and was more alert of his dominant right hand…

Meaning that they had figured out his left was his weak spot.

Alex quickly reacted to the incoming wolf, he swung the sword with everything he got.

*BANG*

But, his eyes widened to the massive shock that the sword barely did anything! And now, his hand was stinging from the pain that was generated from the impact.

He might have hurt the beast and, sure, it was bleeding, but it was nowhere near what he had expected the sword to do!

All he did was cut the beast, but he was able to push it away from him.

Unfortunately, this was enough for the other two, out of three, to jump on him.

One of them lunged at his legs and the other one lunged at his neck.

And before he even realised what had happened, all he felt was pain...
