12 Round Two, Against the Wolves

After some resting, Alex decided to return to his shooting practice. And after getting a few plausible shots, he started trying to channel his electricity.

Channelling it to the bow was pointless, so he channelled it to the arrow instead.

Results were somewhat mixed, as arrows were made from wood and only the arrowhead was made from steel.

This led to the arrow itself being damaged.

So, instead, Alex channelled the electricity into his arms, this instantly made a difference, as he could pull the bowstring much, much faster.

Now he needed to practice pulling the arrows from the quiver faster.

After finishing a quiver of arrows, and stopping with the channelling, he instantly felt the after-effects of using such augmentation.

Not only did his arms feel sore, but he could feel them getting numb as well.

This was going to take time to get used to… After getting a rest, he continued with the same type of tempo.

Until his right hand started to bleed again…

Then he rested again…

Alex has no idea how long this lasted, but his training had finally reached the point where he did not feel that strained with the constant electrical augmentation, and he could now shoot his arrows to a satisfactory level.

After that, he practised swinging his mace, and there, he felt the difference…

The mace was quite light to him, and each time he swung, it would now produce a loud whistling sound!

It was even more impressive when he added his electricity to the mace, as the whole weapon was made from steel. So, he was not worried that it would damage the weapon.

Once he was done with his practising, he felt like he should…'test out the waters' as the saying goes…

~~~
Alex entered the forest through the same place he did last time. He tried to recall the place where he had… died.
He looked around at the front, then to the side, re-imagining the events of the last day… or was it even yesterday?
With just how confusing this place was, Alex can't exactly tell how long ago it was.
Still, he tried to re-trace his movements from last time.
'Right, so, I stopped when the wolf in the front appeared, I was close to this tree, and then I moved to that tree when I realised that I was surrounded.'
After properly recalling the events, Alex walked over to the tree where he had died.
The reason he did this was to see if the dungeon had been reseted or not.
Then his eyes slightly widened in realisation as he noticed something on tree bark. It was a cut on the tree!
His gaze went down and he saw… blood stains…
Then he looked further back and saw even more blood.
He slightly paled realising that this is probably the place where he died.
Just thinking about this is quite surreal, not every day does one just come back to the place where he had died previously.
Alex took a deep breath and, a few moments later, looked around with resolution, he was searching for the monster that had killed him before.
And he just needed to walk a little bit more before he found one of those bastards.
Just like before, in front of him, just in the distance, was a horse sized wolf.
But unlike before, this time, Alex was not afraid, his fear of the beast was completely overwhelmed by the feeling of wanting to kill the beast, to hunt that canine down!
Alex quickly pulled out his bow, instinctively, electricity started to flow through his hands, he quickly pulled out an arrow, and in just under a second, the arrow was already flying at the beast.
The beast released a sound of being hurt before collapsing like it was a puppet free from its strings.
The arrow hit right in its skull.
Still, Alex had no chance to celebrate as his instincts screamed at him to dodge!
His eyes widened as he saw that the world around him slowed down to a crawl.
His body started to move and he realised that a wolf was leaping straight at him from his left.
He moved sideways, before falling onto the ground as it was not a perfect dodge.
A loud and painful hiss escaped his lips as he was cut with one of the wolf's nails right through his chest.
Alex quickly rolled and got on his feet as he stared at the wolf in front of him, while also trying to get over the pain, it was dulled down with all the adrenaline and electricity flowing through his body.
Once he was somewhat alright, he focused on the wolf and what was above it...
[Northern Forest Wolf Lv1]
He then looked closer and realised that it was the same wolf that he had faced before, as there is a cut on this wolf face.
"Fancy meeting you here, what do you say about round two, mutt?" He said while putting back his bow and pulling out his mace, his eyes never left the wolf which was glaring at him.
As if knowing that Alex was taunting, the wolf snarled and growled for a moment, before starting to pace back and forth.
Alex once again sensed danger…
But this time he was ready…
He quickly moved to the side and then swung his mace right at the jumping wolf…
Hitting it right in the face, there was a loud sound of its bone breaking, and cracks of electricity being spread through its body, before it was then sent flying like a ragdoll.
Alex already knew that these canines were targeting his 'less dominant' side, that's why he, on purpose, made it appear as if his left side was much more vulnerable…
After killing that wolf, Alex felt much more rejuvenated, but it was still not the time to celebrate as the wolves got even more antsy with their behaviour…
*Howl*
*Howl*
*Howl*
'Well, this is not good!' Alex quickly started to look around, he saw two more wolves looking at him, one of them was the one he hurt before, the other one must have been a pack member.
'Packs, of course… there should be a pack leader then…'
He looked more at his surroundings and, of course, there were even more wolves.
Alex saw several more red eyes appear in the darkness of the forest.
'Three, four, six, eight… fun-fucking-tastic…' A grimace appeared on his face.
Making up his mind Alex decided that it was time to go on the offensive, the quicker he can take out the wolves before they team up properly, the better chance of him surviving this encounter!
With electricity crackling around his body, he charged in, full-body boost was something he only tested a few times, but he knows it works!
A moment later and he was in front of the wolf he had previous experiences with, his sudden increase in speed shocked the beast.
Before it could even snarl and try to bite him, Alex already had his mace in a full swing, going down on the creature's face.
*CRACK*
The sound of a skull being cracked spread throughout the forest, and Alex was not done yet, as he quickly focused on another beast and lunged at it.
There was a grimace on his face as he felt his leg muscles reaching its limits, something to work on in future as well.
Once more, Alex swung his mace sideways, right in the cheek of the wolf.
*CRACK*
It was sent flying a few metres away like a ragdoll, Alex once more grimaced as his hand started to protest as well.
'Shit…'
With that thought, he turned back and was greeted by eight wolves, one of them was half a head higher than the rest…
He focused on him and saw letters above it…
[Northern Forest Alpha Wolf Lv1]
'Still level one huh… is this Dungeon adjusted to my Falna power?' Alex grimaced at that though.
While it does give him a sort of measurement on the scales of the enemies, it is not the best, still better than the DxD one though…
'Right… time to retreat…' With that thought, Alex started to run like his life depended on it, and it did literally…
A few steps later, and his legs were about to give out, but, this is where Alex decided to use his new method of sticking onto surfaces, and there were currently a bunch of trees in this place.
So, he quickly went up on the tree trunk, out of the wolves' reach.
But even so, the pack of canines surrounded the tree and started to wait for him to fall…
'Well, I don't have much time left…' Alex frowned as he could feel his pain from his leg muscles, his right hand was extremely numb too.
'Still, I will take as many of these bastards as I can!'
Alex quickly sheathed his mace and pulled out his bow, he took out one of the arrows and pulled the bowstring with his right hand, fighting through the numbness as much as possible.
His aim was not the best, but even so, he released the arrow and it travelled at fast speed, hitting one of the wolf's midsection, making it jump back from pain.
All the wolves looked back at their hurted pack-mate, and Alex used this moment as he swiftly pulled out his mace with his right hand and channelled all of his remaining energy into a last-ditch effort, he then jumped down…
Right on the head of the pack leader…
*CRACK*
Alex caved in the leader's skull, as blood exploded from the skull, he didn't stop with the attack though, as he lunged at the closest wolf with all his remaining might.
Yet, his arm gave in as the mace slit out of his hand, but even so, it flew right into one of the wolves face.
A loud and painful sound escaped the beast's mouth as it retreated, but the rest of the wolves?
They jumped on Alex who was on his knees at that time, his legs had given up…
'It was a good run…'
Alex thought for a second before pain and darkness assaulted him.
~~~~~~Morning~~~~~~

With a groan, Alex opened his eyes and saw his room ceiling. He almost felt unfamiliar with it, with how long ago was the last time he had seen it.

He tried to move, but he was too tired to and the world around him was spinning.

Eventually, he decided not to move for now, after laying down for a bit, he heard a crack through the doors, as a head poked through the small opening.

"Alex...you up?" Julis softly asked, he could hear the concern in her voice.

The moment he heard her voice, a smile appeared on his face, and Julis felt a big pull on her empathic link that she has with him.

She was happy about that, but at the same time, she wondered just what the hell happened to him for there to be such a reaction just from hearing her voice!

"...I think, I am…" He spoke back with a somewhat joking voice.

He could hear a sigh escaping from Julis's mouth.

"It seems you are…" She walked in and looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

At that moment, Alex focused on her and noticed that she had bags under her eyes.

"And are you okay? It looks like you have not slept properly." Now Alex was the one to ask with concern.

Julis quickly looked away.

"I am fine, I suppose It finally sank into me that I am realities away, there are Gods and stuff…"

The pink-head could tell the truth and say that she had nightmares about her death, but her death was nothing special compared to what Alex had to go through.

"I see… Can you get me a piece of empty paper?" For now, he decided to let this slide, and Julis was happy that he was not asking more.

The pink-head nodded and went over to his table and opened the first drawer, pulling out a piece of paper.

She then handed it over to him and waited curiously to see the results of his training.

Once Alex had the paper, he activated his Power of Falna and upgraded his status, then he used the paper to see how much it went up…

"What… in the world…" His eyes bulged out seeing the upgrade.
