58 Rhino of Black Iron

As Alex landed on the forest floor, he was quickly surrounded by empowered wolves.

His HUD was still showing that they were Lv 1, even after the upgrade.

However, he could not see the pack leader anywhere.

He could be hiding at the back.

However as he was thinking about it, his senses picked up movement. His electromagnetic field has picked up wolves attacking him from behind.

By this point, he can tell the angle of the attack from the sense and the experience alone.

Internally he was baffled by the Hunter skill! It was almost like precognition! He could imagine the way the wolf was lunging.

Before it could hit him, Alex sidestepped and smacked with it the back of his hand!

*CRACK*

The hand collided with the canine's skull, the contact made the skull implode into a mist of blood. The headless body simply continues to lunge before it drops to the ground a few metres away.

"..."

"..."

Julis was baffled by the force while Albion was curious about the mechanics behind it.

After killing one another tried to attack from a blind spot again. By this point, Alex was expecting an attack from behind more than from the front.

So he easily spun again and slammed his hand upwards smashing the wolf's lower jaw up, this move shattered the canine's skull which made the beast drop on the ground.

"Well, this is it… kinda boring, same movement mechanics. Let's end this." Alex casually commented as he proceeded to activate his Dragon Thunder Force. White lightning enveloped him as he moved to kill the enemies.

Less than twenty seconds later he was already standing next to his girlfriend.

"Apart from higher stats they act similarly. The pack leader is slightly smarter. Nothing to worry about."

"...Alright, then let's go." Julis didn't comment on the fact that she could barely track his moment when he was seriously moving.

This was such a moment. His Dragon Thunder Force is one scary power.

The group proceeded to move forward.

Around three weeks later, give or take according to Albion's counting. The trio arrived at quite a rugged-looking area. Just like before the trees started to be more and more sparse and they were replaced by large boulders.

Remind them of something like the Siberian wilderness they saw on television or the internet. It's like the glacial retreat which left behind boulders.

"Is it just me or the temperature here is colder?" Julis commented as she could see her breath.

"The temperature drop was quick and sharp. It's like this place doesn't follow the basic rules of geography. If it wasn't obvious before, now it is."

"You don't say," Alex commented on that before, a couple of times. No, a bunch of times, like with a non-existent day and night cycle.

'Nah, it's just Albion's desire to look like a smart-ass.'

"Well, at least we can safely say that temperature drop or increase could be instantaneous, just like switching from one biome to another." Julis tried to be the middle person when she saw Alex's expression. Internally she was amused by the pair's behaviour.

"Yeah. Though so far this is the only place with that kind of change. But, no doubt we will see more of this in future." For now, Alex decided to forget about the silliness of his dragon partner.

He should have known these dragons could be annoying and not helpful ALL the time.

As the trio discussed this they started to walk deeper into this stony biome.

Alex decided that they still needed to mark where they were going. These massive boulders will work nicely to show the way for them.

A couple of hours later, a growl got their attention.

"I guess we finally found the animal of this biome," Julis said with a knowing look. It was something which made sense, each of the biomes has its regular predator and the Monster Rex.

The massive forest has the wolves, and the river and the swamp have the Gajau, so this tundra with the boulders has something as well.

The group looked around, they couldn't see anything. That was until Alex's electromagnetic field picked something lunging at them.

With a spin, he delivered a kick at the lunging animal. Instead of smashing into the boulder the predator flipped and landed on the boulder.

The trio looked at the beast.

[Frost Lion Lv1]

"Lion? Dungeon are you stupid!? Look at it! It looks like a puma or a panther! Check your facts for fuck sake!" Alex was pissed when he saw the enemy.

Albion and Julis sweatdropped when they heard Alex's outburst.

"What? Albion wouldn't you be pissed if someone called you a Drake or Wyvern!? Or God forbid a flying snake?"

"You are right! This is heresy!"

'Are these two serious? They are complaining about this at this time!?'

Julis only got more sweat on her forehead. These two are just…

*Growl*

The Frost Lion didn't like the fact that it was ignored like this. So it lunged at the group once more. The pinkette could see the animal's claws, they looked like pure crystals or like ice itself.

If utilised properly ice could easily be one of the sharpest of things around. So if an animal like this one has claws made from that. It could easily maim them!

"Fuck off!!!"

*SCREECH*

White Lightning erupted from Alex as he jumped and delivered another, this time a downward kick.

*CRACK*

Sounds of bones cracking spread through the area as the frost lion didn't get up this time around.

"As I was saying. Naming someone wrongly is bad! It rubs it wrong." The White Dragon Emperor said that while landing on the ground and 'dusting' himself off.

"Yeah, anyway what did you get for killing this thing? Those claws look sharp."

Julis ignored the comment and instead asked him about the loot.

"Hmm, let me check…" He summoned his phone and went to inventory, once there he scrolled to the bottom.

"Nice, it does drop its claws. I could turn them into Aztec-style weapons they used to use for war." Alex stroked his chin when he thought about this. He did have similar thoughts when he got wolf materials for the first time.

"...The Jaguar Warriors?" Julis realised what he meant. Didn't those nutcases from the Aztec Empire use volcanic shards to cut people down?

Even a stick with such shards would be as lethal as any sword or mace.

"Precisely."

"While it sounds fascinating we need to find out why the dungeon is misnaming these cats like that!" Albion interrupted the pair as the dragon poked his head in between them.

"Ugh…why don't you just drop it? It's not like the dungeon is misnaming you?" The pinkette said with a dull tone.

"No! How could I!? Imagine the dungeon starts calling you blonde! Or worse…Redhead!" Albion said red with huge dread as he couldn't imagine his partner's mate being a redhead! That's just horrible! Red stands for his rival and that's it!

While Julis just put her hand on her face, she couldn't believe the conversation devolved into this!

Alex's words casually turned this dragon into some sort of paranoid creature!

"Albion is right. We need to find the Monster Rex of this area and kill it."

"That was my idea all along! Now, let's go!"

'These two… ' Internally Julis groaned as they proceeded to delve deeper into the rocky tundra.

As they walked deeper they encountered more of Frost Lions. The White Dragon Emperor pair were 'extra' invested in dealing with those two.

The pair would crush the lions with ruthless precision.

While Julis at the back could only watch with a deadpan look.

'Why are they getting so worked up about such a misunderstanding? Is this a male thing? Human hierarchy thing?'

The pinkette pondered as she didn't interfere with what the pair were doing.

Eventually, some time later they arrived at a place where boulders were as tall as trees and it formed into something like a semi-circle with the middle area being wide as if it was a fighting ground of some sort.

'This is… sand? Or is it gravel of some sort? The whole place is straight without any obstructions.' Julis internally commented as she looked around, her eyes ended up at the front.

There was an SUV-sized black rhino-like creature resting in the middle of this place.

It has two horns on its long face. The first horn is much longer and it looks like a sword or sabre like.

"Holy…that one looks dangerous. If that thing hits it's game over."

"You don't say. Should we split up again?" Julis sarcastically responded as she saw the horns as well, she suggested the same tactic they used against Jyaratodus.

"Seeing that it's a head-butting type it should charge at us with one track mind." Alex nodded before explaining.

"No doubt." She nodded back as they charged from two angles, while Albion proceeded to observe he doubts that with his current abilities he will be useful. He can't use his draconic abilities, and his general body strength will be useless against those plates for now he is going to watch and wait for his moment to take out those eyes again.

As the pair rushed forward from two angles the rhino's ears twitched as it slowly opened its eyes. The Monster Rex's red eyes looked around, spotting Alex.

*METALLIC SCREECH*

A screech which sounded like claws were being used to scratch a metal spread through the area.

It made all three of them stop in their tracks and cover their ears.

'That's one annoying sound!'

'I felt goosebumps travel through my spine.'

The pair internally commented with a frown as they felt very uncomfortable.

*RUMBLE*

Alex's eyes widened as he swiftly lunged to the side as a big black blur like a missile slammed into a boulder behind him.

The teen quickly got on his feet and looked where the Rhino ended up ramming its horns.

"Holy!!! That Rhino packs a punch!" The teen more than anyone in the group knows how solid these boulders are; he can barely use his Dragon Thunder to cut and leave a marking. Yet, this thing cracked the boulder like it was an egg!

"Hmm? Did you say something!? I can't hear you, Alex!" Julis said that while rubbing her ears.

Instead of shouting back, he motioned for her to shoot!

"Oh, right!" She summoned her Sacred Gear and white flames appeared out of her wrists.

She proceeded to create flames and then form them into a ball and then threw it at the rhino who was pulling its head from the boulder.

The attack was a direct hit and the flames heated the back of the rhino, but that was it. The beast didn't look like it was in pain or anything of that sort.

'I see, I suppose we will need to cut the armour off if we want to hurt it directly.'

As he was thinking he summoned his Dragon Thunder and created a javelin.

In the meantime, the rhino turned around and proceeded to dash towards Julis who was already preparing her next attack.

Alex seeing that the back was opened proceeded to throw his javelin.

The speed of the weapon was as fast as lightning, but the connection which he expected didn't happen!

"...What… the fuck!?" His eyes widened as he realised that his Lightning didn't work at all!

He saw how it travelled and upon impact, it just disintegrated! Like a rubber ball bouncing off a concrete! That's what happened to his lightning which according to Albion is good enough for a God to wield it!

"This is nonsense! What kind of hack is that thing using!? It's cheating! I demand to speak with the manager of this place!"

"Huh? Did you say something Albion? My ears are still ringing!" All Alex could hear was static but he could see Albion wasn't happy that his Host's powers were not working.
