57 Level Up

"I am done. We can continue." Julis walked over to Alex's side. Her boyfriend was sitting on the ground while leaning against one of the countless trees around here.

The White Dragon Emperor nodded as he slowly got up back on his feet.

His gaze went to his prim and proper-looking girlfriend. No wonder it took her a while to look all nice.

"Alright." He motioned with his hand and she handed over all the bathing things they had prepared. They don't wash up a lot in this place. They still have a whole set, from shower gel to shampoo.

As he stored the items away in one of the backpacks, Julis proceeded to ask.

"So what now? I can assume we have reached level 2. This should make the grind easier but we still need to face the other three monsters.

Which one should we go after?"

She asked him with a pondering look.

"The way I see is that Jyaratodus was weakest of them all, he had a weakness for our both elements, and the snake in the north will have a thunder weakness, and the rhino in the south could potentially be weak to fire, while the Boar could have resistance to all elements.

This could be just a theory but it does make sense considering that the rhino has metal-like plates. It could absorb heat. it would eventually be too hot and it would start to hurt."

"And what if it doesn't? Though, I guess it does. I mean it could be metal or bone plates. We haven't even seen it." Julis didn't deny it, but same time she didn't agree either.

"Though it is fine. We should face it next and then take on the Calydonian Boar, with the snake being the last." The pinkette suggested to him.

"Fine with me."

Alex agreed, he had no opinion on this as he looked at his dragon companion who was leisurely snoozing on the ground.

Albion has no care in the world.

"What do you think?" His question has awakened the dragon.

It took a couple of seconds but the white dragon gave his answer.

"I think you should level up. Even if you broke the limit of 999. There is no point in building on those foundations.

You already have a solid first layer."

Julis looked curiously at her boyfriend. She wanted to see this process of levelling up.

"That's right! You should level up." She agreed with Albion's suggestion.

"Yeah. I was thinking of waiting for your opinion. But what Albion said is true. After going beyond 999 the growth slows down a lot." He replied to her with a nod before explaining what was on his mind.

"Then go for it." The pinkette instantly agreed. By this point, they were at level 1 for ages, especially her boyfriend who was longer in this than anybody.

"Fine."

He agreed and closed his eyes.

At that moment his falna proceeded to glow on his back.

After level up was done Alex saw a window with three skills available to choose from.

HUNTER

MENTAL HEAL

ABNORMAL RESISTANCE]

'Hmm, Mental Heal is out. This is something that developed from my constant use of Electrokinesis. By this point, It doesn't mean much as my electrical powers are a mix. Faster recovery of one reserve is not worth it.

Then Abnormal Resistance is the most common skill one can get after a level-up. I can get this at every single level up.

This leaves Hunter which is the best-skill for a Dungeon like this.

The more I hunt the easier it is for me to kill the enemies I killed before.'

Without wasting any more time Alex selected Hunter's skill.

That moment a strange feeling washed him over.

A feeling of 'experience' washed over. It was as if he was 'good' at killing canines.

He was after killing hundreds of thousands of wolves.

But this Hunter skill amplifies that. It's like he attended university courses and went through training to learn their biology and muscles.

If there is one thing, it is that he is good at killing wolves.

"...Alex?"

As Julis got his attention, Albion next to him started to grow by a few inches.

His level changed, it went up.

Albion was now level 2 as well.

"Oh, even you now look more imposing and not a little dragon anymore." The Pink Princess casually mentioned that as she was curious about this rapid growth.

"Yeah, Yeah. I heard that before." Albion rolled his eyes. He was more curious about his growth!

If Alex reaches a level beyond Albion's original Lv 11 will he grow to Lv 12 as well?

This was interesting as if they are going to follow this pattern then this means that Albion will slowly regrow to his original strength inside this dungeon.

Which is an interesting little detail.

"Hmm, I don't feel different at all… strength-wise but my new skill is already showing its fangs."

"New skill?"

"?"

"That's right. I forgot to mention but with each new level up one can select one out of three skills." The White Dragon Emperor explained to the pair.

"Oh? Interesting, so what did you pick?" Julis asked him curiously.

"I took Hunter."

"Hunter?" Her eyes blinked a couple of times, this sounded quite specific.

"What are specifics?"

"It's like a hunter experience but on steroids. The more I hunt specific targets, the easier it is for me to hunt them down. I even develop something akin to a sixth sense towards that specific monster's weaknesses." Alex tried to put specific thoughts he had towards this new sense he had.

He could dissect a wolf with closed eyes and one hand behind his back. This includes their hunting methods and pack tactics.

So one could say… he was ready to fight anyone with four legs and who looks like a wolf.

Yet, Alex wondered how well this experience would be against the floor boss. Will it work or will it be a different kind of 'wolf'?

Time will tell but this was good. This is the best skill for grinding. The more he kills the better he will be in killing.

'This almost sounds like a serial killer 'skill', damn.' For a second some sweat rolled down his forehead.

"... That is a very convenient and powerful skill, given time. I assume you already 'feel' confident in killing a wolf?" She asked with a pondering look.

"Discarding the fact that I have over 800 stat points difference, yes. I have self-confidence at the spiritual level that I could strangle them all with my bare hands." He tried to explain to her how he was feeling about this.

"This is good, but at the same time this is bad." Albion finally started to talk and say his part.

"How is it a bad thing?" Julis asked the dragon.

"The bad part is that the dungeon will evolve. I can guess that the next floor will have much fewer enemies than this floor just from the fact that you, partner, have taken the Hunter skill."

Alex realised that as well, and he nodded at the dragon. Same with Julis.

"Then the next floor could potentially have a harsher climate and fewer monsters." Julis chipped in.

"Precisely."

"Well, then we should continue with our hunt and find out, otherwise it will be decades until we reach the next floor." Alex was feeling motivated to see the next floor now.

"Wait! Update my stats!" Julis stopped her boyfriend.

"Sure."

"Well, your stats barely went up. The only thing of note is your Magic is now at three 'S' letters which is impressive." Alex commented after seeing her stats.

Since he can't show it on paper he can only comment on it.

"I see. Then I didn't level up."

"It was not enough since you only delivered a couple of strikes with fire while I was the one who delivered the killing blow." The White Dragon Emperor commented after mentally reviewing the fight.

His blows were the deadliest to the fish wyvern. This means his girlfriend will need to deliver the killing blow in the next fight.

'I suppose the most of exp goes to the one who delivered the last blow or did the most damage.

This is so like an MMORPG that it's disturbing.'

"So I have to deliver the killing blow? It's…so specific? But, I guess Falna has to recognize the 'heroic' deed." Julis mumbled softly after remembering what Alex said to her about falna.

With how her memories are jumbled she can't tell how long ago it was. She has two sets of them after all.

"Yes, it has to record the exp. Honestly, it's so much like a game it's even freakish to some extent."

"Well, whatever. Let's go, darling, we stayed here far too long." For now, Julis decided to shelve this, as they need to find the next Monster Rex.

"Sure."

As the pair moved. Albion was thinking about how much this Hunter Skill would be abused. Such a power never appeared in his world.

What the Vanishing Dragon is pondering is whether this skill can be used on humans or dragons. If so then how dangerous can Alex become? After all, it doesn't just reveal weaknesses but it becomes easier to hunt them!

What about the evolution of the skill? Can it become even stronger?

If so then Alex will become a very dangerous being.

Regardless, the dragon proceeded to follow after his host. They need to travel back to the starting point.

Like always travelling back was much faster as they didn't need to mark anything, instead they just followed the markings Alex left before.

As the trio were travelling, the newly levelled-up Alex was testing out his new power.

He noticed an increase in speed, reaction, and output in his Dragon Thunder, there was a simple overall increase in power.

Though… something was disturbing.

"...The wolves."

"Their numbers dropped."

"And they are more powerful," Albion pointed out the aura the beasts are emitting.

"I guess my level up affected the floor," Alex said with a small frown.

"Even so they don't look that strong," Julis said as she shot a ball of white flames.

As she suspected their death was quick but not all of them were dead.

"Yes. It's not impressive, but the point is that this dungeon can change midpoint. We didn't leave it. This means that it can be even worse on higher floors." He explained to his girlfriend what this has meant.

"Partner is right. We need to gather as much information on this place as possible. Before we go to higher and more dangerous places." Albion chipped in as well.

"Well, for one we know that they got stronger but not by much. I guess that their stats went from 100 to 400 or even above that." Julis commented as she saw how the wolves reacted to her fire blast.

"True, there should be more to them. Let's run some simple tests." Alex was quite happy to see that there was another pack of these puppies. It appears some of them survived Julis' blast and reinforcements were called.

Now, he was intrigued to see if they had new movement patterns.
