10 Chess...

Julis, who was sitting next to Alex, only gazed at the Sitri heiress, the sheer gall of the devil girl is something very annoying and unsettling for her.

Alex only nodded and started with the pawn. Soon enough, the game of chess was on its way.

At first, there was barely any delay in between their turns, as it was only the pawns which moved on the battlefield.

But, soon enough, the other pieces started to join in the fray and this is where the thinking really started to kick in.

At least that was the case for Sona. And Alex barely planned his moves, or at least the student council president thought.

Something the Sitri Heiress picked up…

Alex's behaviour quickly started to frustrate her, first and at most, he was not falling for any of her traps and set-ups.

Instead, he moves a piece that is not related to any one of her grand schemes!

As if he was just doing things randomly!

Still, as time passed, she knew that she was winning. But then, she realised what was going on!

Her pieces were getting ganged up on!

Alex has mostly ignored her pawns and focused on the more other pieces.

Eventually leaving her with just the pawns left.

He then moved one of his knights towards her king.

"That would be check, Shitori-kaichou," Alex said with a fake smile.

The whole student council room turned deadly silent, most of Sona's peerage were looking at the match with extreme fascination and disbelief.

The Sitri heiress fixed her glasses and had to move her king.

Alex used this opportunity, instead of pursuing the king he took another one of her pieces out.

Sona frowned at that, realising what was going on.

She started to think, should she move her king to a safe distance, or should she retaliate?

In the end, she decided to retaliate. But, once again, Alex checked her king in the next turn.

She then saw his smile increase when she moved her king to a safe distance.

"You focused too much on my knight, Sona-kaichou…." Alex moved his last remaining bishop.

"That would be another check…" He said with a bright smile, and the Sitri heiress started to sweat.

Another several moves later, and three pieces have joined the encirclement around her king, making it even harder for her to move the other pieces as she focused on saving her king, while Alex had much wider breathing space as he took out her other pieces that were ignored.

Eventually leaving her with just her king left, while Alex still has five pieces left excluding his king.

And so, he moved in for the kill…

"And this, Shitori-kaichou, is checkmate." He said as his knight piece pushed on her king piece trapping it completely, he looked quite satisfied with this, still, he knows that he is in deep shit now.

His pink haired princess was giving him a piercing glare, promising pain...

"T-This… I…" The devil heiress was out of words and her glasses nearly fell from her nose.

"I want a rematch!" She then realised that she lost, and the very first thing that popped up into her mind was a… rematch!

"Sorry to break this to you Shitori-kaichou, but…" Alex pointed at the windows, the sky was orange… They have been playing for around an hour and a half…

"I am not here to play chess, I was expecting a tour of the school." His words made the student council president embarrassed…

Her whole plan was thrown out of the window, the Sitri heiress has not even thought about the possibility that Alex would beat her in chess!

To her, the match was already in the bag, and she only offered the chess to find out more about his personality!

Yet, she got the tables turned on her, Sona has no doubt that her older sister already knows that she lost this match…

This means that there will be a shitstorm going their way, Serafall will start digging all she can about the new transfer student.

How did a simple test turn out like this!?

How is she supposed to tell Alex that she is now, technically, his fiance?

After all, she is a devil and she had a deal with her parents…

And the deal was not THAT specific to begin with!

So, if anyone was to beat her in chess, she would have to marry that person!

Only now, after losing the match, did the heiress realise how bad her wording was when she made that promise with her parents!

Sona took a deep breath and turned to Alex, she messed up, still, she wants that rematch!

"I understand, my apologies. I got carried away. Momo, if you would, can you show them the school grounds?" Sona asked her bishop.

The silver-haired girl slowly nodded absent-mindedly.

Sona's peerage still can't believe that she lost!

Around an hour later, after Momo had finished her tour of the school grounds, Alex and Julis started walking back home.

The moment she saw that they were out of the school perimeter, she pulled him into an alley and pushed him onto a wall.

The pink-haired girl was pissed…

"Do you know what you did?" She asked with a chilly voice.

"You said that this devil heiress' sister is a Satan, and that she is very much infatuated with her little sister! And yet… you decided to beat her and put even more attention on the both of us!" She poked his chest with her index finger multiple times, it was quite painful since she has some nails…

Alex sighed hearing that, he knows quite well what he did…

"I know, but we were already on their radar, and Sona already wants us in her peerage, and if the people we saw are all her members, that means that there are still multiple spots empty there."

After seeing Sona's peerage, he could guess that canon was still some distance away…

Not that he can trust canon in the first place, since his existence should have already caused a butterfly effect.

For example… he already has Sona's full attention, who should, by this point, be working in recruiting Saji.

Julis only groaned hearing that, no matter what, they were already on the devil's list.

"Even so, you are now on Leviathan's radar too…" Julis said with an annoyed look.

"I was on her list the moment Sona found interest in me." Alex defended himself, but Julis was not buying it.

"Yes, and now you moved up in that list since you have beaten Sitri in a chess match!" The pink head pointed that out.

"Yes, yes, I get it. I think we should go home already…" He just raised his hands in defeat.

Julis rolled her eyes, but she agreed. There was no point in pointlessly arguing when she should start practising her Pyromancy and get stronger.

"Yes, let's go."

After returning from school, they made dinner, and did their homeworks. There were only a few hours left before they had to call the day.

Neither Julis nor Alex wanted to lose their school marks, it's something that has to do with their pride.

After that, for the remaining hours left, the both of them spend practising their respective elements.

It's a good thing that their backyard has high fences, otherwise they would need to find a good place to practise their powers.

Even so, it won't last for a long time. Once Julis can make fireballs and Alex can generate enough power which, in turn, creates a lot of flashy lights, they will need to start practising somewhere else.

After two hours of practice, Julis felt like she had run a marathon, and Alex felt a splitting headache. They had to stop with their training.

"So, how can I check my progress?" Julis asked Alex as they were resting in the living room.

"Only I can upgrade your Falna, Julis." He answered back from his side of the couch.

"Does that mean you need to see my back, again?" She asked with narrowed eyes.

"Hey! It was not me who invented that spell!" Alex countered back after hearing the borderline accusation coming from her.

"I know, but still… fine! Just, do it!" The pink head caved in and decided to just do it.

While her… boyfriend just groaned from his side.

"Can we do it after my migraine is over?" He asked her with closed eyes while holding his head.

*Sigh*

"Fine, I will get the empty papers." The pink head lazily went up and walked to his room.

A few moments later, Alex remembered that Julis probably had no idea where he was keeping his empty papers...

So, with a groan, he got up and walked over to his room, where he found the girl exploring his room, her tiredness was nowhere in sight.

"Why are you checking under my bed?" He asked with a deadpan look.

Julis stiffed, and Alex just sighed.

'Is she looking for my porn magazines?'

"I-I-I didn't know where to check… So, I thought they might have been here…" The pink head got up, she didn't look at him directly, instead she found one of the maps on the wall to be more interesting than boyfriend at the moment.

"I see…" He did not buy it at all, instead Alex decided to change the topic.

"The empty papers are in the first drawer." He walked over and pulled out two papers as he started walking back to the living room.

"Come, let's get this done, I want to sleep." He motioned for her to follow him.

Julis nodded and decided to forget about the incident in his room, instead she remembered about how Alex woke up this morning!

"Wait! Does that mean you will go back to that dungeon!?" She asked with realisation.

"Yes, I will return there." He only nodded back as if it was a natural thing.

"B-But, you might die again!" She said with a somewhat fearful voice.

"Probably will, but now I have Electrokinesis," Alex said with barely hidden excitement.

He is not going to lie, he wants to cave in the skulls of those wolves, he wants revenge!

Julis saw his reaction, she could not believe this! Is he not afraid? Or, did he think that even if the wolves kill him he would just return to his bed in the morning?

In the end, she sighed, there was nothing she could do to stop him, after all, he still needed to sleep…

"Just… promise me you will be careful…" She said with a small embarrassed blush, it's a good thing that he didn't see her blush, as she quickly hid it.

"Yes I will, I have no interest in collecting more scars like that." He said plainly.

Julis decided to lighten the mood after she heard his response.

"And here I thought men liked scars…" The pinkhead questioned him in a joking tone.

"It depends on the guy, you know? I don't mind having one or two, but knowing the dungeon, I will have much more in future."

The pink princess grimaced for a second, she wanted to lighten the theme of conversation, yet it returned to his dungeon crawling...

After a few moments, they arrived back at the living room.

"Update me first, please. I want to see how much it has improved and also start on understanding how the progression works." Julis said as she got face down on the couch, she then lifted her sweater and showed her back.

She was about to tell him not to stare too much, but instead, she holds her tongue, as the pink-haired girl remembered the devils, and more specifically Sona, and the fact that he won against her in that stupid chess game.

The princess does not doubt for a second that the devils are more liberal with their actions and that they would use seduction if needed, since she realised that Sona's peerage is full of girls.

And besides, Alex is her boyfriend and he has his boyfriend rights…

"I am done, here is your stats sheet."

Julis snapped out from her thoughts, was he done already!?
