Chapter 3: At Riverdale

-Narrator-

The Laurent family traveled for hours by plane and after 8 hours they arrived at the New York airport at 9:00 AM. The head of the family Enzo took a few hours to get a car for the trip to his wife's hometown.

With a 4x4 van, all the luggage was put in the back of the van, and the cab of the car was exclusively for the family. The hours of travel to the village were quicker, and bearable for them.

The Laurent are hunters' travel is in their veins, Ivon with only 12 years of age had traveled most of France in the course of their missions or tests set by his father and mother.

''What is the town of Riverdale like?''. Ivon asked all the time I kept turning the subject, I did not know where, but Riverdale is something I had already heard.

It's a great little town to live in, I finished high school there. After graduating, your grandparents took me to New York to finish my studies. After graduating with a degree in art, I was trained as a hunter, traveling back and forth between here and there. In a soft voice, Emma revealed something about her life.

"When did you meet dad?''. Ivon put the subject aside, for now, she just wanted to know more about her parents' union.

"On a mission in Canada, I had a confrontation with several individuals or monstrous, I was outnumbered. I single-handedly defeated 10 out of 12, the comfort brought many wounds to my body. I thought the end was near as I could not move because of the wounds, but I never gave up hope of survival. I thought at the last second I could defend myself, I never believed that... your future father would show up, and save me in the process." Emma grabbed her husband's hand to continue the story.

"I was doing a silver brotherhood job, related to a group of Vampires. It was one of my easiest jobs, when I thought nothing could surprise me, your mom appreciated my vision. A beautiful and strong woman fighting, no matter her situation she never showed a face of giving up, and without thinking I jumped in to help her. Enzo finished kissing the back of his wife's hand.

A fantastic story in Ivon's eyes, but she recovered quickly. With her curiosity satiated she asked again about the town.

''There's some neighboring city.'' Trying to get a picture of the surroundings in hopes of remembering Ivon continued the conversation. ''What's it called?

"It's called Greendale, there's a river called Sweeteater that separates the two towns. Greemdale is a town of occult darkness. It is very close to hell and in the words of my parents, it is home to witches and other creatures." Every time she spoke, Ivon seemed to remember something.

"Because the sisterhood does nothing." Ivon was surprised that such a place existed, by logic to know of something of such magnitude the sisterhood should create a crusade, to hunt the witch or warlock.

"Most of the local witch and warlock serve the dark lord, Satan himself. Their powers are on another level. The brotherhood turns a blind eye to any situation in town." Emma revealed, Enzo drove without making any noise he seemed to already know.

"Satan, Lucifer. A most startling revelation.

"Everything related to the Church of the Night is under the jurisdiction of the archangels or angels. Only they have the power to confront Satan's servants. Riverdale luckily is not inhabited by any of them, when I found out I was 20 years old. I was in New York, my parents told me about it only because we no longer lived in Riverdale. Ivon calmed down knowing that at least they didn't have so many freedoms, and the surveillance persisted.

"Riverdale... Greendale... Greendale... Witch. He seemed to be remembering something, but he couldn't find anything, he blamed it all on the being that reincarnated him.

Memory is the most precious thing that a person can have, to take it away meant to take away part of his life lived.

....

-Pov Ivon-

Watching the passing trees near the road, I thought about the towns Mom mentioned. Where I would have heard it, a sign that read 'Welcome to Riverdale' chilled my mind.

I could remember, I still couldn't say who told me in my old life, but Riverdale is a town where events take place as seriously as the town itself.

A teen series, now I understand why the standards of beauty are so high in this world. If I'm in a world where a teen series takes place, it's normal that young people are so handsome and beautiful.

Dad entered the town and everything seemed to be so quiet, very different from the city, it wasn't that there was no movement, it was just that compared to the big city it was very small.

I looked around very carefully, I didn't want to miss any detail, anything could make me remember.

"See, he's already excited. Between murmurs, mom talked to dad.

''I accept it, it was a great idea to come here.'' Said dad while driving.

The car drove a little way out of town, entered a dirt road, and a few meters later a rusty gate came into view. Behind the gate, you could see a waterless fountain in front of an old white mansion.

"Welcome to Welton Manor... which you'd hoped had been abandoned for about 30 years. It needs a lot of work to bring it back to its former glory. Mom said when she saw our unhappy faces.

The white paint was practically falling apart, the wood was weathered. If on the outside I could notice the dust that covered the house, inside it should be a desert. I was beginning to think that coming here wouldn't be a good idea.

"Let's leave the bags in the car for now. We'll go see the inside, son if you want you can go see the town. You know the place, buy something you like.'' Said dad I thought for a moment about refusing, but seeing what awaited me if I went in I declined.

"Thanks, Dad, I'll buy something to eat for you guys too. I said as I walked into town.

The road was lonely, with no noise I could hear that didn't come from animals or the trees. From behind me, a car was approaching at a medium speed, I thought I would pass directly as I pulled off the road, but the car stopped next to me.

The window panes opened, revealing their passengers. A red-haired woman with tanned feet and light brown eyes.

"Are you new in town? More than a question, it seemed to demand an answer.

A smaller silhouette peeked out, revealing her tender face. She should be my age, from her hair she should be the daughter of the woman who spoke to me. Red hair, amber eyes, full lips, and pale skin were some of her most noticeable features.

"Mommy I want to go now." In a tired voice, she spoke to her mother.

"Don't interrupt Cheryl I'm talking to this young man. For some reason, he looks familiar." I heard his words perfectly.

From the clothes and the way the woman spoke, it seemed that she had a lot of money. I decided to answer to avoid possible problems, I just arrived in the city. I don't want to have enemies.

"I'm Ivon Laurent Welton, I'm new in town. Mom grew up in this town may know her name is Emma. He was interrupted by the adult woman. ''Welton how could I forget her.

"Do you know Mom? I was curious to meet someone from mom's era.

"We studied together. In high school we were friends. I have to go now, but first, deliver a message to your mother. Tell her, she's invited to visit me at Thornhill Manor." He said only to close the car windows again, the car started and left me alone.

In a rare interaction, I forgot to ask who that girl was, I have to admit she was very cute.

-Timeskip 1 Week

-Pov Enzo-

A good way to get used to the town is to meet its inhabitant a few days ago Ivon brought the news and invitation of one of the old high school classmates of my wife.

It took us some time to accept the invitation for the renovation of the mansion, I hired a construction company in town for the renovation.

I'm sure it's fine to just show up without saying anything. Emma who was next to me, holding my arm just smiled.

Opposite us was a large mansion, the Blossom residence, Emma informed me. The Welton family had a share in the company, but because of the hunter's situation, her father sold the shares to the Blossoms.

The Blossoms now have a monopoly on the lucrative maple syrup trade, with the sale of the Welton family stock Blossom Maple Farms is owned solely by the Blossom family.

I noticed how my son seemed to be somewhat impatient to meet the Blossoms, his behavior was strange and new. It's only been a few weeks and Ivon already shows a change. Since he was born has always been very mature for his age, if I remember correctly Blossom has children, and I had hoped that in the future they will be friends of Ivon.

....

-Pov Ivon-

In front of the entrance of the mansion, mom rings the doorbell, I straighten my shirt, I don't know why, but I want to look presentable. I had to wear gloves to hide my tattoo.

Dad didn't have a problem because his tattoo is on his chest, and mom has it on her back. That's why this time he's not wearing low-cut clothes, our tattoo should be hidden to prevent it.

The door was opened by the same lady who spoke to me on the road. Mrs. Penelope Blossom, wife of Mr. Blossom.

"Oh, I thought you didn't want to see me anymore Emma. I've been looking forward to your visit." He commented with a smile on his face. His expression looked so fake that even I could tell.

In his mother's words, he never had any friends in Riverdale. His brief time in this town was spent preparing to be a hunter, his parents took this town for it.

The Welton family for generations settled in different parts of the United States, when the town of Riverdale was just being founded, my ancestors used it as a permanent settlement.

Somewhere in history, the Weltons bought some of the Maple Tree lands along with the Blossoms, and when they created the business they tried to buy the land from the Weltons, but no matter how much the Welton's wouldn't sell. In the end, it was agreed that the land would be the Blossoms in exchange for a share of the stock in the business.

My dear grandfather had another idea, his thoughts were very firm in devoting his attention to hunting supernatural beings. He sold his share of the stock, kept only the grounds of Welton Manor, and then left for New York.

"Penelope it's good to see you doing so well. You may already know, but this is my son Ivon Laurent Welton. The one with me is none other than my husband Enzo Laurent.'' Mom introduced herself as someone listened behind.

"Penelope. Who is it?". The silhouette came out and it was a red-haired adult male.

"Clifford look who's back in town." He turned to give the man room to walk.

"Emma Welton, I never thought I'd see a Welton in Riverdale again. Surprised he came over to see us.

"This is my son Ivon, and this is my husband Enzo. You may permit me to enter. Emma, tired of being on her feet, spoke with a smile.

"Sure come in, I'll call the maid and have her bring us some tea. We went in without a problem when Mrs. Blossom made way for us.

Later, in the living room of the mansion we sat on the sofas of the place, mom talked to the Blossoms, and now and then dad talked to Mr. Blossom. They all talked while I sat quietly listening.

"Mommy can we go to the garden, J.J. will go with me." The little girl I saw in the car before, appeared with a smile on her face.

"Cheryl can take Ivon with you. His mom is a friend of mine who has come a long way to live here. Take him and show him the garden." Mrs. Blassom ordered her daughter.

"Sure mommy!". Cheryl looked at me as if telling me to follow her.

We left together, and neither of us spoke until we reached the garden. A boy with the same trait as Cheryl quickly looked at me with suspicion when he saw me arrive with his sister.

''Hi I'm Ivon Laurant Welton, I'm new to Riverdale.'' Seeing that I was already suspicious I introduced myself first to lighten the mood.

"I'm Jason... sister let's go look at the flowers." His introduction was brief, he stopped taking my attention, and spoke to his sister.

"We can't Mommy said to show him around. She'll be mad if we don't." Cheryl quietly spoke, Jason made a 'No desire' expression.

"! What's the difference, come with us! Without looking at me she grabbed her sister's hand and walked through the garden.

They were only 12 years old, I didn't care about their behavior. A few meters behind them I followed them, at least until mom came to get me.

....

-Timeskip 2 years

-Pov Ivon-

In my work room, a red-haired woman was facing me with her back to me, sitting on a chair, her hands clutching a paintbrush and a palette full of colors.

"You are doing well Cheryl, just remember your movements must be smooth and precise." I am Cheryl Blossom's teacher, this role was mom's, but for work reasons, she has been away for 3 months with dad.

It must be that my teacher is someone without talent, everything I do is perfect. With the arrogance of a rich girl of her age, she mockingly answered me.

I sighed inwardly, the beautiful, sweet girl I met 2 years ago slowly turned into this sarcastic, bratty girl.

"Cheryl I have the talent and experience to teach you. If you still don't feel satisfied with my words, look around, all these paintings are mine. I told her as I spread my arms wide, my artwork was attached to the surrounding walls.

"Yeah, if she always answers the same thing. Your mom may have done it, I won't believe it until I see it with my own eyes." I put the brush down on the palette only to stand up, and look at me mockingly.

She thought that with her little words she could provoke me, just because I wanted her to swallow her words I played along.

Tomorrow comes with the nicest clothes I have or the ones you like. I'll make a portrait of you, which will make you swallow your words. I told her no problem, she smiled as if she had already won.

The conversation ended after a few hours when the Blossom's chauffeur came to pick up the red-haired girl.

"Remember, I'll come tomorrow. Bye." Cheryl hugged me goodbye without warning.

This girl is bipolar I don't accept it, but I like her. She is still young to have a relationship, I will wait until she is 15, to ask her to go out with me. For now, I will win her friendship, and for now, I am succeeding.

....

In the training room of the mansion, I started training, in these 2 years, I have only done 5 quests given by the Silver Sisterhood.

"I'm so handsome!" I thought as I looked at myself in the reflection of the gym mirror.

Since I was only wearing a tank top, you could see my slim body with pronounced muscles. My skin is white, my eyes are green, and my hair is my mother's blonde heirloom. It's a perfect outfit, without shame I think I'm above average in beauty.

The course of the day was quiet with nothing to mention I prepared something to eat for dinner, no problem I made some dishes. The whole Laurent family knows how to cook our work and circumstances make it necessary.

For example, let's take the present time, it has been 3 months since I saw my parents, during which time I have to fend for myself. There was talk of hiring someone to do the cooking and cleaning, but I objected without thinking about it.

One of the things I always prioritized is my intimacy, I was still experimenting with my body and mind in search of the gift of the being that reincarnated me. Of all the things I may have obtained, I am more inclined toward Muscle Memory.

Because it's strange that just by watching dad training I learn the moves, I can copy the moves I see perfectly just by watching them.

I can be a prodigy thanks to my skills or desires, I can't forget that my body is human, to make it worse I'm still a child. With training and technique, I can easily beat an untrained adult.

....

The next day I was expecting Cheryl's visit, but I never thought she would come with her brother Jason. Cheryl's smile was overshadowed by Jason's angry face.

"I hear you're going to do a painting of my sister. I'm going to be present at all times. He seemed to make it clear that no, he would not leave us alone for any second.

"Come on master or that could change today." Cheryl without waiting walked to the room, she knew the way.

She was wearing a very pretty red one-piece dress. For a moment I looked at her back for more than a minute.

"Hey stop seeing my sister." Jason grabbed my hand to stop me.

"Jason I'm not going to lie to you your sister is really cute. When I met her I liked her. Let me be her friend." Without being quiet I revealed my thoughts to Jason.

Be direct under the odds of immediate rejection or a negative response.

"I wish you would stay away from my sister, but since she knows you, and takes art class with you she is happy. I allow you to be just her friend, I don't want you to hold hands or anything like that." As an overprotective 14-year-old boy, I threw out a list of conditions.

I can understand my mature behavior because of my experience and knowledge, but Jason is just a normal kid because he is so mature, that I can't understand it.

"J.J. Come quick. Ivon I'm ready now." From inside the room Cheryl's scream reached us.

"Cheryl's birthday is coming up, she'd be happy to see you there." It was all he said to leave my side.

She didn't need to remind me, I was already aware of it. It's one of the reasons I decided to accept Cheryl's challenge, portraying her is a way to show my skills and surprise her. By the way, I will also give it to her for her birthday, this will be a memory that I will capture in Cheryl.

With Jason as my guardian I began to prepare the canvas for painting, the whole place was filled with jars of paint. The room smelled of paint, a smell that always relaxed me.

"Ivon you better take off your gloves, I don't want you to say at the end that it's their fault you couldn't paint properly. Cheryl scoffed as she looked at my gloves.

"Little Cherry, don't worry I wear gloves so I can get a better grip." I listened as Jason kicked the ground for how he had called his sister.

"Little Cherry," Cheryl mumbled with her cheeks flushed, I captured that moment in my mind, and I decided that her blushing appearance would be what I would capture on canvas.

I was so excited that I started painting... it would take 1 month to finish the painting. Perfecting the light and colors, it would take time to get it perfect. The good thing is that Cheryl's birthday is a few months away.

....

-Pov Narrator

Ivon finished the portrait as she intended, Cheryl's reaction made it worth all the time she spent working on it. Every day she set aside some time to go to Welton Manor to continue the portrait.

What she didn't know was that Ivon could remember in detail what she had to put on the canvas, she wasn't going to complain either because, at the time, Jason couldn't attend all the meetings. Meaning that Ivon had a free hand to woo and flatter Cheryl, their friendship is something remarkable now.

On the side of Jason, Cheryl's brother. There was a cold war between the two of them, no advance of sarcastic words between the two of them. You could tell they were friends just so as not to cause problems with Cheryl.

Another change in Ivon's life is that she now attends a local Riverdale school. Ivon's parents did all the paperwork for her to join the school year, Ivon met a lot of kids from the town, and some of them became her friends.

....

-Pov Ivon-

I never thought of attending school again, now here I am sitting in the classroom waiting for the teacher to arrive. I agreed to attend, just to spend more time with Cheryl, since I finished the portrait, and gave it to her, a friendship was formed.

"We'll go play soccer because you're not coming. I understand you might be afraid of losing. There was my partner next to me, it was Jason, the Blossom brothers sat next to me.

Cheryl to my left was now chatting with her friend Josie McCoy, a skinny curly-haired girl of color. Lastly, Jason, who for as long as I've known him we've had our roses.

I'm not going to lie going to school is nice, here I don't have to worry about being attacked by a witch or whatever being I have to hunt.

Mom and Dad went on a mission again, only coming back to enroll me in school. I understood the importance of their work, I could live alone at home, but school made noise in my life.

At home, I only spent my time training, painting, reading, or learning. I had the talent and I didn't waste it. I read college-level books, and all that knowledge I learned at, the high school level is a walk in the park now.

"I follow you Jason, but let's bet something. It's more fun if there's something to win, well I understand you feel scared." I tried to provoke him, and he played along with my game.

"Please, I would never be afraid of you. Speak up, what do you have in mind?" Jason with a scowl exclaimed loudly drawing stares from the other students.

I had to lean in close to whisper in her ear so no one would hear. "If I beat you, I want you to give me time to buy Cheryl lunch at Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe."

"I accept, but if I win, I want you to stay away from Cheryl." His condition I could see coming, I could only smile slyly.

"Deal." I held out my hand to close our deal in a fist shake.

"Don't cry when I lose." I confidently hold my hand, and we shake hands.

"Students there will be the Literature book on page 50. The teacher didn't wait to order the class to start.

"What's going on with you and my brother." Cheryl leaned close to whisper in my ear.

"We're just going to play soccer, you know how it is, I always want to compete," I told her, Cheryl never had any idea that the reasons for our quarrels were her.

I was a sweet girl who thought, Jason and I were good friends. I was wrong and very wrong.

....

On the school football field. Jason and I decided on our team. In a short amount of time, we were able to get 10 together, which is why the teams will be made up of 5.

"I'll go first," Jason said in a mocking voice.

"No matter who I choose your loss is assured". Was my answer, he intended to grab the best.

"Moose, Trev, Peter, and Reggie with me." Unsurprisingly, he chose the best in sports.

None of them said anything or refused.

"Guys, with me the rest of you. I said to the remaining ones.

We have five minutes to plan the plays. Whoever scores 3 touchdowns wins." Jason said, "Since it's not a formal game and we were kids we took the game our way.

"Guys we will win you just have to tip over and pass me the courage. I'm good at running, once I get the ball no one will stop me". I spoke to my team.

"Jason is a cheater he took all the good ones. Eric was the first acquaintance I made when I arrived at school.

"Don't overthink it, life is hard this will not defeat us. Follow the plan and we will win. I spent the next three minutes explaining the games we would play.

"Come on Ivon, you'll lose today, and you'll never look for my sister again. Jason shouted, and his companions took the position.

"Jason I am someone of actions, not words." With a glance, my team also stood in their assigned area.

"Let's play! We took the position, and the game began.

....

"I'm the winner!". It wasn't mature of me to rub in the victory, the boys were on the floor breathing heavily.

I made them suffer by playing, Jason got up between gasps from the floor only to look at me with hatred, and without saying anything he left. This defeat destroyed his pride, I waited for the boys to recover.

"Guys let's celebrate my victory at Pop's place, drinks are on me." My words won my team's victory cry, those in Jason's group stood up silently, and walked away defeated. "Guys don't leave, I want to celebrate with all of you, you did well, but facing a genius like me your defeat was decided.''

Without looking at me they walked away in silence, the words I said caused them to feel more depressed. It's their loss... Let's go. I took one last glance at their silhouettes and then we left.

Leaving the school Cheryl approached me with a smile. "I heard from J.J. that you have something to tell me. I'll meet you tomorrow at Pop's Chock after school." Surprised because Jason already set up our date.

"Guys thanks to you my victory was possible. Let's go eat too." I said to them as I watched Cheryl's back, as I got into her driver's car, Jason crossed eyes with me from inside the car.

Twin brothers can be very overprotective, sorry Jason, but my school life I'm going to enjoy. The story of this world hasn't started yet, when it does Cheryl will be my girlfriend.

-Narrator-

Ivon was convinced that, shortly, the world would follow the plot of a teenage sitcom, but he didn't know that nothing in this town was abnormal. The quiet days would end in the future.
