Chapter 011 | nightly training

Graham: What is now your answer to my riddle?

"We have a blind man in our clan, and he once told me that although he lost his sight, it increased his other senses."

Graham nodded his head:

"Right, I suspect that it will be the same for you, only that you don't lack your eyesight, but a Ristic"

"But how do you want to test that?"

"We already did that when you dodged the attacks of my homunculi. You dodged all of my homunculi attacks without any experience in evasion or other protective methods. It would take years to avoid so many consecutive attacks without getting hit. ''

Graham was now sending me from one task to the next. And after completing each task, the correctness of his hypothesis was confirmed again and again.

He made me do many tasks and wrote something down each time. For example, once I had to smell scents from as far away as I could, or I had to try to read small letters at a great distance and hear his voice. He tested all of my 5 senses to the extreme.

Sometimes he would also give me a simple wooden sword from the wall and let me fight his homunculi in extreme situations, once on a tree trunk at a height of 3 meters or while I was dangling overhead.

After 3 hours of training, Graham sent me to him.

"Well, I have everything now.

In all 5 senses, you show, as I already thought, astonishing results. These include sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Because your brain could not rely on its ristic, as with the others, it automatically trained your already existing senses to somehow compensate for this difference. If we now combine this with experience and muscle strength, then you should be able to overcome everything well. The next step is now to make you a suitable weapon.

.

Even if you didn't notice it, but here in the underground, it is already night. That means that many are already asleep. So we shouldn't see any more people. The perfect time to get going, ''

"Where are we going?"

"I'll explain it to you on the way"

When we walked through the exit of the training area, it was exactly as Graham told me. The place where music played and people laughed before, is now as good as gone.

It was very quiet, only a few groups of people went through the plaza.

"We're going to the forge", Graham told me ,,The blacksmith there has a Type 3 Ristic, very rare and very useful. He has a talent for forging the right weapon for you. You just have to tell them his name and he will surely forge a weapon for you that will fit you like a fist in the eye .....

Here we are, '' finished Graham.

In front of us was a wooden house, which was probably the definition of mending. Planks had been nailed across and over to the wall of the house everywhere. The only thing left in the order of its structure was the inactive chimney sticking out of the house.

We went in.

There were already 3 people in the forge. First the man who greeted Graham at the entrance this afternoon. The older and the shorter man, probably because of the soot on his face, the blacksmith and ... and .....

A little girl about my age. But this girl was on all fours. Where her hands should be where the paws of a dog, or rather a wolf.

"Oh, you must be wondering about the girl'' said the man to us ,,This is Amy, my student. I found her in the woods here, about a week ago. It seemed like she had been cast out by her clan. She cannot speak and mostly still behaves like a lone wolf. But her Ristic is something very special. I don't want to anticipate anything just yet, but she has an abnormal Ristic a type 4 ''

The blacksmith interrupted this conversation:

"There are too many people here for me, David, you have already ordered, your order will be ready to be picked up tomorrow. So you can go already ''

The man named David went out of the forge with Amy.

"See you at the recruitment, my big Graham!" Said David to Graham.

Graham ignored him and immediately started his assignment.

"We need a weapon for this boy"

The blacksmith looked at me and asked:

"What's your name Recruit?"

"Paul, Paul Hatcher"

The old man looked astonished:

"Uhhh you have a last name, very few people here have a last name. That is something special ''

The smith got up and looked me over from all sides. He measured my arm length, height, Face, skin, and hands.

"Okay, I now know what I have to forge for you. The order will be ready tomorrow. Good night''

Graham then sent me to the recruiting room, so that I could go to sleep.
