Chapter 004 | walking down the Guard

I have to come to the landlord's villa, but I mustn't let the will-o'-the-wisp see me. Strangely enough, it doesn't seem as if this will-o'-the-wisp is the ristic of the landlord. Maybe he bought one of these will-o'-the-wisp from the Supreme Council?

It seems like the flame is paying attention to movement. I took a deep breath. When the flame stopped dancing and became red again, I noticed it! "Large amounts of Carbon dioxide! crap! I didn't think about that! Fire is very sensitive to air, of course the will-o'-the-wisp would notice me if I breathe. Because of the cat the flame came close enough to my hiding spot to register my breath!The burning red flame slowly whizzed over to me. I held my breath and lay'ed down on the ground. The will-o'-the-wisp was now exactly over me, it was red. Ready to explode at any moment. I felt that I slowly ran out of breath. My arms ripened the roots of the plants below me to somehow better endure the pain. But after a few moments I realized that it couldn't go on like this. I have to come up with something and do it quickly!

Something came to my mind! The will-o'-the-wisp detects high levels of carbon dioxide emissions. I took a branch and tried to hold it inside the will-o'-the-wisp. It actually started to burn! Now I have to throw away the burning branch as quickly as possible, if the will-o'-the-wisp only pays attention to co2 emissions, then I could distract it with fire. I threw the branch on the street and at the same moment, the will-o'-the-wisp began to turn deep red. If I was too slow It's going to explode right over my head! But thankfully the will-o'-the-wisp whizzed to the burning branch and again mumbled the 3rd rule of the Supreme Court. That was my moment! At the moment the red flame explode in a firing he'll. I got up as fast as I could and ran away,with the remaining oxygen in my lungs,as fast as possible. At about 20m I started breathing again. I breathed in and out, high and deep, long and short.

I finally made it to the Landlord's house! But one thing still bugged me,why was there only one will-o'-the-wisp. These flames have an approximate range of 3 arm lengths and not everybody will try to get in from the main entrance. Before I could really finish this question, I clearly knew the answer with the Sight of the new leaders house. There wasn't just one will-o'-the-wisp! There were roundly 80. All around the house there were prancing flames just waiting to turn me into ashes….

"That's boring" I thought to myself. I already knew everything about these will-o'-the-wisps.

With the knowledge I had gathered beforehand, I simply passed around the wisps and quickly went through an open window in the house. The man really seems to detest us when he lives so far away from our village and with so many »guards« he should fear a lot of enemies.
