Chapter 4 Interrogation

Mr. Agyei sat waiting for Baafour's return until he could wait no more. It was past his bedtime and sleep was getting the better of him.

"Can you try and find out what your brother is about when he returns?" he asked Adobea.

"Surely, father." It was her turn to wait for Baafour to query him until she got all the information needed. Adobea queried her brother without any success the moment he returned from his secret trip.

"I don't see why you should be so concerned," he said.

"You left without telling anyone where you were going and expect that no one will be concerned? Come off it!" Baafour, without responding to her question, left for his room, too tired to argue with his sister, leaving her dumbfounded.

I can't believe him! He just walked out on me. "Baafour! Will you come back here?" Baafour ignored his sister and shut the door behind him.

"Any luck?" Mr. Agyei asked when he woke up from bed the next day, expectant.

"No Dad," she replied. "He refused to tell me anything."

"Your brother will come around soon. Any ideas?"

"Not yet, Dad," replied Adobea.

"I think I have an idea."

"Great! Tell me!"

"I'd like to discuss it with your mother first."

"Aww….Daddy!" she said, disappointed. At the least opportunity, Mr. Agyei discussed Baafour's behaviour with his wife.

" Since you were saying you could not see yourself leaving the baby behind for so long, can we consider calling the two big boys from college to join us?" he asked.

"Why do you say so?" she replied suspiciously. "You seem bent on getting even with someone, don't you?"

"Well,,,,,,"

"Just tell me. I'm not going to be cross. It will be fun having the whole family together anyway, minus me."

"Please don't take it that way."

"I will miss the baby and I took a leave to take care of her till she's ready to be weaned properly…"

"And you can't go chilling knowing you've left her behind,"

"The boys can take my place if that's what you want. That doesn't mean I haven't forgotten you only used my situation to make up for another one." Mr. Agyei smiled.

"I can never hide anything from you, can I?"
