"Damn, they're fast," Renzor thought, eyes locked on the pair above. The wind whipped around him, leaves and branches a mere afterthought in his wake.
Above, Vaella led the group, her wings flapping rhythmically. "Vael-, no, Mother," Daxos grumbled, irritation evident in his voice. "Why did you invite him?"
"Hearing you call me a mother is weird," Vaella replied, her heart warmed despite her son's complaints. "But he's my friend. And there's another reason."
"Another reason?" Daxos raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued.
"You'll see," she said with a mischievous grin, her golden eyes glinting.
"Mother, stop playing around," Daxos chided, his frustration growing.
