Dawn of Apocalypse

Metal Ridge City, also known as Metro, was one of the last few remaining cities on Earth.

Five years ago, mechanical creatures that were named as Gretas by the humans,rose from the sea and attacked the human populace on Earth.

Almost three quarters of Earth is in ruins. Greta's attack and humans fight back trying to hold on for another day and another and another. Now only four hundred and three human shelters remain on earth. No one knows why they attack nor why they are here. And as each day passes humans lives are lost.

The human's last hope lies in the scientists. Two years ago a body of a Greta washed ashore at the Broken Spine, the shores of Vulcan City the world head quarters.

Nobody knew how the Greta body had washed ashore intact and in perfect shape although dead. Since the war begun humans had never managed to capture the body of a Greta. They would carry their injured and dead back to the sea after an attack therefore leaving no bodies to be studied upon. This was a mystery to say the least.

From the Greta's body the scientists were able to learn a lot of things . From the Greta they saw that the metals and fluids that comprised it were quite alien.

They discovered that the Greta had a blue square crystal in it. The crystal was used as the powersource by the Greta. It was their heart.

The scientists studyed the Greta's body for a year it had brought along great technological breakthroughs.It was around this time the third year into the war that Stinger, the first Mecha reached the end of it's creation.

Stinger was a twenty three metres tall silver Mecha with black on the edges. It was fast and focused mainly on offense. It was slim at the waist with broader shoulders and a small square head with a glowing red crystal at the center. Its feet upto the ankle resembled those of a bird of prey. The name Sting came from the two red laser stings at the back of his wrist. People admired and coveted this Mecha as it was deemed the best of the best even though being the oldest mecha. Every city was filled with pictures and grafitti of Sting. This was the Mecha of the Supreme Commander Lais at Vulcan City.

There were three types of Mecha: Combat Mecha, Safety Mecha and Patrol Mecha.

There were two types of Combat Mecha. Military grade were the best. These were created using the best resources from the Gretas dead in the battlefield. Military grade Mecha and their pilots were famous and renowned. In every shelter there would be at least two military Mecha. Five or more Mecha would be placed in priority shelters, a good example is the Vulcan City with ten military grade Mecha including Sting.

Apart from the military grade there was the Beta grade. These were the combat Mecha created by private companies but they could not by any means be compared to military grade. Military grade Mecha had access to the best resources from bodies of Greta from the battlefield while the private companies could only buy the resources that don't appeal much to the military from the militaryor look for the resources in the black market which didn't have Greta's in bulk ofcouse. Not to mention that the military had better technology. Still, the Beta grade was admired by many.

The Safety Mecha were produced by the military and private companies but solely managed by the military. These were support for the Combat Mecha. They were smaller more flexible and more agile. They were also able to kill weak Greta if being piloted by a good pilot. Some pilots had even made a name by killing multiple Greta using just Safety Mecha. Many people also wished to pilot a safety Mecha.

Lastly were the Patrol Mecha which were created by private companies but were managed by the shelter authorities. They would generally keep the inside of the shelter safe and crimefree. They were basically Police.

Metal Ridge City,

When we talk about cities with more than five Mecha, Metal Ridge City wouldn't be able to make the list. Metro didn't have important individuals living there except the shelter governor, the shelter had not produced any elites in the army, the city didn't have any resources that would endanger the other shelters if destroyed eg food granaries. The metal ridge shelter only had three Combat Mecha. Two of them were military grade with one of them belonging to the shelter governor and the other was a Beta grade.

Metal Ridge City, Calif market

"Hey, hey, where do you think you are going, you need to pay for that, get back here." an old man with white hair and a pair of sharp mean eyes got out of the store shouting towards a black haired boy holding a red paper bag filled to the brim with food and fruits, running at full speed.

The old man remembered something and turned his gaze from the boy to the opposite end of the Street.

Next the old man was standing next to a mecha at the end of the Street. "PM, a boy stole goods from my shop. He is around 1.67 metres tall, black hair and black eyebrows along with an olive skin with a medium body stature. He went in that direction. I think he was heading to the dumps." the old man added as he pointed towards the dumps. After listening to the old man Mac the pilot of the mech walked straight toward the dump.

As he headed there he sighed and said.

"I really hope it isn't you Trek."

"Haha...it's really you Trek."an old man living at the dumps shouted.

Trek went to the first tent and gave an old lady wearing rags known as Hannah food and fruits.

"Thank you Trek."

"Thank you Trek...."

"Thanks..."

...

He continued to give the people around him food receiving thanks and kind words.

Trek was an orphan. His parents died five years ago when the Greta's attacked. His parents didn't leave him anything, he had no relatives to turn to and he could not even join the military as he was young back then. His only option was to live in the streets. When he reached fourteen years old he did not attend the recruitment as he had gotten used to this life.

But he knew that the military was his only chance if he wanted a better life. He was still young, he wasn't planning on living here forever.
