Chapter 1.Derriya’s point of view

As I ran across the floor peppered with glass shards that pierced through my feet like the piercing fear in my heart that caused my dry throat to tear into a scream that I couldn't release. I felt the stabbing pain on my feet as I left traces of dark red liquids on the floor with my two bloody feet. I ran to a wall and backed up on it keeping my senses on high alert. I heaved in and out heavily after all the running I did. I knew this day would come. I regretted not training myself emotionally and physically. Tears threatened to spill out. I contained my sniffles so as to not draw any unwanted attention to myself from the lurking dead or half-dead or the psycho living.I thought about them-him-Adam.I remember the stupid puns and jokes he used to tell me to make a smile plaster on my face. My vision became blurry. Realisation hit me. They were all gone including him. How could I have been so selfish?I curled up into a ball my arms wrapping around my knees in an effort to give myself comfort and warmth from the freezing cold night air that blew from the broken windows. They were around. Dead or alive I wasn't sure. I haven't figured out yet. But one thing I knew for sure,if they spot you run or your dead and their next meal to success.
