23 Devised A Plan!

"Say that you love me, again Jenny!"

The eyes of the girl widened and she looked like her soul had left her body.

She bowed her head abruptly as it turned so red that it felt like blood would drip out from it any moment!

"What.. What are you talking about? We are still underage!" the voice came out stammering as she flushed! What was he even talking about suddenly?

Her heart beat started to drum in her chest so fast that she felt like it would burst out.

"Does that mean that you did not like me?" Alec had seen it on TV and in school. There were many who were dating!

They hold hands and spend time with each other. They talk and smile while telling each other that they love each other.

He had thought that he and Jenny were like them too. They go to school together, spend all the time with each other and even call each other at night and talk about random things.

"That is not what I meant!" she spoke abruptly as if she was afraid that he would misunderstand him.

"So, what did it mean?" she told him that she did not love him and did not dislike him either! He could not read her thoughts like other beings.

Her clear eyes mostly speak what was in her heart. Then what was she thinking now? He felt like his heart would burst just by thinking about it.

"And why is your face so red? Are you ill?" he forwarded his hand and placed it on her forehead to check the temperature with a frown.

"What happened to you?" the girl frowned at his words.

"Alec! You should speak the words wisely. I would have thought that you liked me with the way you speak!" she shook her head and tried to calm her raging heart when the man frowned and nodded.

"Of course I like you Jenny! I have never even talked to anyone else but you. You are my only one!" she was confused and her eyes widened again.

She flushed so much that she felt like it would have been better if she would have just disappeared from there.

"Alec! You are talking about being good friends, right?" She chose the words wisely so that he did not feel hurt and she could be cleared of what was running in his mind.

"No! You are more than a friend! You are more important than my family, jenny!" there was no hesitation in his voice that touched her heart.

"Alec! You are very important to me too. But I do not know if I am ready to be a lover yet!" her hands held her skirt tightly as she struggled for correct words.

"I still have to win this scholarship to stay in the school and have to prepare for the entrance exams of college too.

You are the only one who stayed by my side. But I want to focus on my studies too.

So, would it be okay if I take some time to think and only reply to you once the result of the quiz is announced?" Her hesitant words were full of concern but worry too.

She did not want to hinder her future with love but if that was Alec, she was sure everything would be fine.

He would not pressurize her for something she did not want to do and they would spend more time together.

Suddenly, the thought of being in a relationship did not sound that bad to her!

But she still wanted to be assured that she was making the right decision!

"Will you wait for my reply till then?" she asked as she looked into his eyes since he did not reply this.

She was worried that he would misunderstand her and think that she was only taking his benefit but surprisingly, he was looking at her with a confused gaze.

"Why are you being so serious! I can wait for you for a lifetime even if you are with me as my best friend and stay with me like you are now!" as long as she was with him, he did not care what their relationship would call anyway.

"Thanks Alec!" She took a breath of relief as she did not want to give him false hopes but at the same time did not want to refuse since she did not know where she would end up in future.

But even when he said that he did not mind. She felt like she was betraying him. She felt a tinge of guilt when she noticed how much hard work had he done in the project.

"Alec!" she did not know what she was thinking about but she wanted to tell him that she had never approached him to take the benefit of his knowledge

"Shush! We should be studying since the quiz is close. I will wait till you are ready to take the decision jenny.

And I will respect whatever decision you will make. Just do not let this affect our friendship!" if only he had controlled his mouth and would not have asked to repeat her words. They would not have been having these awkward conversations.

He felt furious at himself for being so greedy and not being satisfied with what he had!

So, what if they were just friends. He was still her only friend.

She looked at him with apologetic eyes but nodded her head in the end. If she would still continue to speak, it would only be more awkward.

They did not notice that a boy was looking at them hearing their conversation intently since start, he had a smirk on his face when he whispered in the end,

"I finally found a way, Alec!"
