13 Cherish

Ezra stood wobbling, his legs like spaghetti, his body covered in cuts and bruises, he had several broken ribs and his face looked swollen.

He had one healing potion left, he had spent all his shadow points and now he was done to one.

"Sixty seconds, that's all that's left," Ezra said, he looked at the hydra in the distance, it was going to attack again.

"I ain't gonna die, not today asshole, I'll rather fuck myself than let you kill me," Ezra shouted and ran towards the hydra.

The clock ticked down as he ran, and just as the tentacle was about to hit his chest, the time finished and he disappeared.

Ezra awoken, groaned, and stood up from the ground in the alley. He looked around the place and saw that there was no one, he heaved a deep sigh.

He realized that he didn't feel any pain, he patted his body but didn't feel any pain.

"I think the vitality increase healed me," Ezra said to himself.

"Now what the hell is I got a shadow, didn't I have one already?" Ezra asked.

As he read the details of the shadow summon, he became eager to taste this out, but he didn't want to do something like that in public, even if this was an alley, someone could come here.

"Now my main issue is can I tell my mum and sister about my shadow ability, or should I not.?"

Ezra thought about it for a moment, he didn't for one second like the thought of having to hide who he was completely.

"I will show them, I will simply say I awoke my magic and that is what it is.

If I remember something about this world, then it is the fact that mages lack physical strength, yet I have martial arts and shadow abilities.

This gives me leverage above the others, I'll have to speak with Dad to find a way to let me apply and go to the magic academy that Lisa will be going to."

After making the decision, he decided to check his status to see how much he had grown from the shadow realm, he had risked his life, so the results had to be good.

Ezra read through his stats, he realized that he had grown a lot. When he looked at his body, he saw how toned he had become, for a twelve-year-old, he looked deadly fit.

A smile appeared on his face, the fact that he was growing stronger made him happy.

"I guess it is time to go back home."

When he got home, he saw his sister out back practicing her magic, chanting spells.

She was a complete genius who awoken fire and lightning magic, two very sought-after elements, she had a beautiful future ahead of her.

Ezra didn't disturb her, he admired her commitment, so he let her be and went upstairs to his room. His dad would be around tonight, so he would share the news with all of them.

Night came and dinner was set, the four days were at the table and chatted as they ate, and then Ezra called out for their attention.

"Hey everyone, there is something I want to show you."

His parents and his sis all looked at him, wanting to know what he wanted to show them.

He pointed his finger up, and a shadow tendrils came out of it and squiggled in the air before dissipating.

"I have awakened my magic."

They all stared at him with wide-open eyes, his mum got off her chair and ran to him, she gave him a big hug.

"Congratulations son," she whispered in his ears.

"From what I just saw, that is darkness magic right?" His father asked.

"No, something more like shadow magic Dad," Ezra responded.

"Whoa, I have heard of unique magical attributes like that, but they are hard to come by, I can't believe my son got one." His father said happily.

"I want to go to the magical academy Lisa is going to, I don't know if that will be possible," Ezra said.

"Definitely, we will go tomorrow and I will talk to the academy and explain things to them, they'll let you take the first assessment." His dad said.

"No Dad, the day after tomorrow would be better, I have to tell Oliver about this, and that I won't be able to continue under him for a while," Ezra said.

"That is true, the day after tomorrow would be best." His father agreed.

After dinner, Ezra sat ok his room doing nothing, just thinking and planning for the future. The door unlocked and his sister walked in.

She came and sat next to him, then she hugged him. Ezra was a bit surprised, but he let her be.

"I thought we would have to be separated, I didn't want that, but now that has changed," Lisa said in between sobs.

She let go of him and sat up straight, her eyes focused on the ground.

"Let me promise you something," Ezra said, he captured the attention of Lisa immediately, she looked at him wanting to know what he had to say.

'I never had a person to cherish me or care for me. I never had someone that would cry at the loss of me, or being away from me. So this girl, my sister, I'll cherish you, and bring down everything that comes your way, I'll make them bow to you

"Lisa, I promise you that I'll forever protect you till my last breath, as long as I have a place in your heart," Ezra said.

Lisa looked at him, a smile on her face. "I promise you that you will always be the person I cherish most bro."
