Rise of the Scarlet Demon

—"So, this is it, huh? What a horrific way to die." Damien whispered his 'last words' and closed my eyes. ... Darkness. Absolute darkness. Not gonna lie, I wasn't a big believer or anything, but if this is the afterlife, I'd rather there just be nothing... "Ah?" I opened my eyes and blinked a few times. I hazily got up from the bed I woke up in. Confused about how I survived and how I wasn't covered in third or fourth-degree burns, I reached for the lights. "What?" I said as I stared at bloodred eyes reflected on the mirror in front of me. (This is my first novel, so if you see any mistake, correct me so I can fix it. I'll try to post one new chapter every day, but I can't promise anything.)

Chapter 3: Deal Maker

It was late at night, but I wasn't asleep. I couldn't sleep...

'As much as I'd like to tell Aaron to go fuck himself, he's not wrong... This body has no potential to use mana, nor is it even capable of absorbing some sort of special mystical energy.' My mind calculated multiple possibilities for how I should go about obtaining strength, all of them, however, got discarded.

"Sister..." My biggest problem, yet my biggest support.

She would definitely stop me if I attempted anything extreme, like turning myself into a lich or any other supposedly dangerous change, but she was the one who taught me the most about mana and is considered to be one of the strongest wizards living in the Empire.

'I can still remember her face when I asked her to teach me the basics of magic...' A faint smile came to my face as I thought about how her cold eyes gleamed.

Sigh

'There's only one "safe" way for me to quickly gain strength... I already knew I'd eventually need to make a deal with some sort of superior entity eventually, but I never thought it would be so quickly.'

Tsk

I clicked my tongue as I started to write down the names of all the strong entities I could remember.

Sitri — The Devil of Beauty and Lust.

Odis — The Evil God of War and Bloodshed.

Lakhius — The God of Health and Wealth.

Limos — The Evil Goddess of Hunger and Thirst.

Lokhis — The Entity of Trickery and Deceit.

Apophis — The Concept of Order and Chaos.

"I can only remember the deals of six gods; three are too dangerous to get involved with, and the others are very tricky."

Hmm

'Odis would grant me strength, but slowly make me insane. Limos, besides granting you an unholy appetite, would grant me a nearly infinite amount of mana, that would slowly eat your body from the insides. Apophis would...'

Sigh

"If I make a deal with most gods, I'll end up dead in less than 10 years..."

Tsk

'Alright, let's think about the good news. Lakhius, besides requiring a dragon's hoard worth of gold, doesn't have any sort of mental disability as an Easter egg and would give me regenerative capabilities that could rival an angel.' I pondered for a few minutes on how I could make a few heaps of gold without killing a dragon or two, before putting it aside for now.

'Lokhis would give power to anyone he found interesting, so there isn't much I can do.'

Hm

'Sitri's deal would be an increase in charisma and a body that could never get tired, basically gaining infinite stamina, there's only a side effect of racial change from the overuse of Demonic Energy...' A few uses for the abilities granted by her deal flashed through my mind.

'The problem is... She only makes deals with good-looking and alluring people.' I looked at the mirror at my side.

"I should give it a try..." I thought out loud as I stared at my white porcelain skin and bewitching red eyes.

"God, I will fall in love with myself at this rate..." I put my head down at the table and mumbled a few words as sleepiness started to creep in.
