CHAPTER 77: EXPLORING A RUINS

The three of them spent the night at a luxurious hotel and ate a lot of fancy food before going to sleep, Baal telling them that he had something big in store for them.

The next day came and Baal was wearing something that made him resemble an archeologist, and he got similar clothes for the two of them, giving them an idea on what awaited them.

Gideon wore a pair of black shorts and a dark green shirt with a black hat while Victoria wore a purple shirt with a skirt that went below her knees, also wearing a hat.

'I'm very curious as to how this world has things that resembles our so much. Maybe all intelligent races have had something like this at some point.' Gideon mused as the three of them got on a train.

They attracted some attention due to their clothes, but most of it actually came from the videos of them at the beach yesterday. Turns out that the videos people made exploded and they actually gained quite a bit of popularity.

The train soon stopped near the entrance of the city and the three of them left through the gate quickly.

"So where are we going." Victoria asked, no longer able to reign in her curiosity and Gideon listened attentively as well.

"We are going to explore a ruins." Baal said plainly and although the two siblings expected such an answer, they were still a bit excited.

'Exploring the history of a new world. How exciting.' Gideon said inwardly. But then he suddenly had another thought.

"Wait, why didn't we just go to a museum?" Gideon voiced his thoughts.

"Oh, yeah I actually just discovered these ruins not too long ago, so it hasn't really been explored by others yet." Hearing this, the curiosity of the siblings grew. But they were also excited due to fact that the would be one of the first people to explore such a place.

The moment they reached the forest, Baal started running and the two of them followed him closely. He ran quickly but also at a speed the siblings could follow.

As they ran, the duo also took in their surroundings. Usually, when Baal carried them, the world simply became a blur and all they could see was green. But now they could actually see where they were going.

The three of them ran for almost the entire morning before Baal stopped abruptly, so the siblings followed suit.

"We're here." Baal announced and the siblings saw a large amount of shrubbery and trees.

"It's here?" The two of them strained their eyes and eventually gave up, concluding that the entrance was hidden.

"I actually stumbled upon in by chance, follow me." Baal ordered and walked towards a tree, the siblings following him closely.

They walked over to an inconspicuous looking tree and went to one of its sides.

"Right here." Baal suddenly took a step and suddenly fell into the ground. The duo wasn't overly surprised though and after looking at each other briefly, went in as well.

They were Immediately enveloped with a sense of weightlessness as their eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness.

The two of them swiftly formed wings with their respective magic and came to a stop just a few meters above the ground where Baal was already waiting for them.

They landed and what greeted them was a huge cavern that was a dozen meters tall. And at the very end, there were two large doors made out of a silver metal.

"I concluded that this place was created roughly half a million years ago." Baal explained as

"It's huge." Victoria muttered as the three of them approached the huge door. Gideon felt it and noticed that it was cold to touch.

'Did this appear before astral energy descended on this world? If so then what sort of ancient civilization created this?' According to the information he received from the Earth and Zion, astral energy came to this world some time a hundred thousand years ago, earth was ten thousand years.

'Something doesn't add up.' Gideon thought with furrowed eyebrows, but in the end he decided not to pursue the matter.

Baal then walked up to the door and with a grunt, pushed the several meter tall doors open, and what the siblings saw stunned them on the spot.

A city. A massive ancient underground city was situated on a huge stone platform which had a large hole going around it. Large stone bridges going across.

There were crumbling buildings and structures, stalactites hanging out from the tall ceiling. There was also a very tall tower that dwarfed the other buildings and above it, there seemed to be a closed hole in the cavern ceiling, sealed with the same metal that made the doors.

"To be honest, I'm not quite sure who or what made this city. But it is very old for sure. Moreover, even though I somewhat confirmed its age, there were some items and pieces technology here that seemed way beyond its time. Though most of it is junk now." Baal explained, and then Gideon gave him a questioning look.

"This seems a bit much for a simple outing, why did you bring us here." Gideon asked. He could sense that there was something deeper to this.

"You're right." Baal seemed to pause for a moment before saying.

"I'm sure you guys already noticed that something like this couldn't be built without the help of astral energy, but with the date at which I confirmed its existence, and the date at which astral energy reached this world, it doesn't add up, right?" As Baal said this, he turned around and looked at the siblings.

"With what I've gathered so far, I was only able to gain two possible answers. Either there was an incredibly highly advanced civilization that hid away from the rest of the world and declined for some reason before getting destroyed, or..." His gaze became solemn.

"It was created be another race, one that had already received astral energy and found our world before deciding to take refuge."
