It took him little time to answer, he didn't completely understand what the man had meant but in this situation, the only good answer could be "Yes".

The man stood before him wearing a black trench coat, fitted black trousers, black dress shoes, and a white dress shirt that was tucked into his pants. A black peaked cap with a red stripe starting from the visor, and ending all the way at the back of the hat, the middle of the hat was embroidered with the design of some type of monster skull with twisted and deformed horns.

The wearer of that hat had an emotionless phiz, his eyes lacking light as they were dark, pure dark, akin to an abyss, and they were slightly closed, but those abyss-like eyes flashed with a flame that illuminated their darkness every once in a while which only lasted a few seconds before fading away, but Deus saw it and it enthralled him, it made him forget everything that happened for a short moment.

'I want eyes like that.' The thought flashed.

The flame would dance within the twin abysses like a lantern being held by someone lost in the dark of midnight trying to find their way out before disappearing to somewhere unknown, in a hurried way, as if something caught their attention, fading away to someplace else. It was a certain kind of brilliance that defied his uninterested look.

As long as they were, his thoughts only lasted for a few seconds before he was brought back into reality.

"Get up then. It's time for your first mission."

But he couldn't move anymore.

"Firsss missssin?" His words were drowsy and he was confused.

The man glanced at the Blue Flame Wolf for a second and it started moving again. At first, it moved slowly then it started getting faster although still a bit slow.

The man nodded and tapped the air, a pill appearing in his hands and a dagger. He put the pill into Deus's mouth.

"Swallow it, I was able to stop your bleeding, but you'll die anyway with wounds like that unless you see a doctor. This pill will be a substitute until I take you back to my base and your possible new home."

As the man said, his wounds started closing, some leaving no trace of having been damaged, but the bigger and more serious wounds left marks and didn't heal all the way. The blood that he lost was being replaced at a crazy rate every second, there were even bones he didn't know he had broken that was being fixed, although they were still weak and felt they would fracture again at any moment.

He then shakingly got up, getting assistance from the tree. Now came the use of the dagger. The man held out his arm, holding the handle of the dagger out towards Deus. He was oblivious to why he was trying to hand it to him. The man noticed and instructed him.

"Take this dagger and…"

He pointed towards the Blue Flame Wolf.

"kill the mutt."

"Kill it? How am I supposed to do that without a system?" He looked at the man like he had just told him to jump and touch the moon.

"Yes." His nonchalance was still there as he forced the knife into his hand. "All you need to do is stab it and it will die."

"..." Deus obviously wasn't going to go anywhere near the Blue Flame Wolf, even if he wanted to his body would not allow him to move towards it; it terrified him

"It's understandable if you don't want to do it though, I guess this wasn't meant to happen." He started walking away, but he left the knife in Deus's right hand. "The wolf is slowed down considerably, even if you walk down the rest of the mountain it wouldn't be able to catch you at its current speed. You should make it to the city safely."

After he finished talking he stopped and looked Deus in the face then rubbed his chin. "Come to think of it…while I was roaming through the forest I happened to come across a burned-down village on the way here. It was overrun with monsters feasting on the charred bodies of the inhabitants."

'Huh?'

"I'm sure there were no survivors. Just before I rescued you, I came across the body, if you can even call it that, of a child. No, a baby."

The man glanced at Deus, his right hand was now gripping the knife to the point his hands started losing feeling and the fear on his face was replaced by the anger that he had earlier. It was all coming back to him.

The man knew what he was doing.
