Rise of the Half-Bakugan

A Multiversal Entity made a mistake when reincarnating an ordinary soul, turning it into a half-beast it shouldn't have been. This novel is a tragicomic account of James' adventures in this situation, his fall and rise. *** This series is also a Bakugan Alternate Universe, which I have tried to keep largely accurate to the original. Have a good read. As always, I own the copyrights to what belongs to me. Any content that is not mine is not mine. This is a Fan-Fic after all. I have no say in anything related to Bakugan. It's just a shitty fan fiction written for fun.

Chapter 32 - Matchmaker (3)

Two days ago on the Vexos space ship;

Back on the ship, Volt Luster breathed a sigh of relief.

He didn't like to act without orders. He would probably never attempt such a task again. After all, he had completely severed his connection with his past with this.

The most important factor in his coming there was to completely break the last remaining relationship with that past. But he certainly didn't expect to meet someone as strange as James.

He clearly sensed the patheticness in James's demeanor as he tried to remain calm. That's why he listened carefully to what he said. He thought it through logically.

He went and checked security himself. After making sure there was no problem, he returned to the ship. It was already heavily guarded, contrary to what James had told him, and even contrary to the evidence he had presented.

As he walked down the corridor, he took the pictures out of his pocket and looked at them again. Something like paper hadn't been used much. It was certainly more logical to use a holographic recording with a digital message instead.

Yet, when one looked carefully at these pictures, they looked nothing like a hologram. They were so vivid and clear that it was as if the person looking at them was there.

Looking at these, one might have thought that there was indeed a vulnerability gap. But with his personal observation, it was impossible for such a thing to happen. In any case, even if it did, by the time they arrived, security would have already been greatly increased.

When Volt realized that thinking too much would lead nowhere, he thought it best to leave it to Mylene and started walking to tell her.

...

Two days later, on the same space ship;

a girl with short, straight hair looked out of the ship's window with an expression devoid of emotion. She looked about seventeen or eighteen years old. She had cyan hair and light blue eyes devoid of emotion. Despite her age, the cold air she gave off would undoubtedly have put many people off.

She was wearing a jacket in a slightly darker shade of blue, similar to the color of her eyes, but with large black ridges on the shoulders. These ridges looked rather strange.

Nevertheless, there was a strange calm around her, but unfortunately this calm would not last long.

"Hahaha! What are you thinking, Myleene!"

Laughing wildly, a boy with spiky hair broke the tranquility and approached her. His hair was white, his eye color was red and his nails were painted in the same shade to match his eye color. This made him look really weird. He was wearing a purple vest, and like Mylene, it had long black ridges on the shoulders.

Looking uncomfortable, Mylene quickly distanced herself from him and spoke:

"Shut up, Shadow."

Shadow, however, began to insist like a child:

"Come on, come on! What do you think, something fun?"

Mylene sighed. Ridiculously, this lunatic was the best Darkus player. She couldn't help but question why she was paired with him, even though his erratic behavior was in many ways the opposite of her. Still, there wasn't much they could do about it.

"It's nothing important. I was thinking about that nobody Volt mentioned."

But tragically, this attempt at evasion backfired. Shadow began jumping around Mylene in curiosity.

"Who? Who? Come on, tell me. Come on!"

His excited and impatient attitude as he jumped from side to side caused Mylene to frown. She spoke sternly:

"Stay still!"

But Shadow, who didn't care, continued to insist:

"Who? Who?"

Mylene then spoke angrily:

"Some newbie named James."

With that, Shadow's excitement faded. There was no fun in bullying someone unnecessarily. He'd rather bully someone who was at least close to him.

So he muttered in a depressed tone:

"Oh damn, how boring~ So is there anything we should do?"

Mylene looked condescendingly at Shadow and asked sarcastically:

"If I said there was, would you do it?"

Shadow replied with a laugh:

"Not unless it's fun~!"

Mylene grinned coldly.

"I didn't expect anything from you anyway, I handled it myself. There's no harm in taking precautions, even if they seem pointless. Especially when it hasn't succeeded yet."

Shadow's troubled expression returned in an instant.

"How boring~!"

...

By this time James had reached Victor's room and was trying to have a decent conversation with him. Their meeting was not particularly warm. Victor was undoubtedly very cold and no matter how much James tried to bring it up, he couldn't.

But finally he couldn't take it anymore. James put his hand on the table and asked directly.

"Look here Victor, what's going on between you and Lucy?"

Victor frowned at James' impatience.

"What are you talking about?"

James spoke seriously:

"I'm talking about your childish desire to overthrow Moonlight, and Lucy feels more sorry for you than the restaurant when she tells me about it."

At James's words, Victor became unexpectedly angry. He spoke angrily with a mocking expression on his face:

"Is that so? Then why didn't she bother to stop by? And what do you care about any of this?"

James suppressed the urge to rub his temples. After nearly ten minutes of talking, he had finally gotten a response. Fortunately, he had been expecting this question. He immediately responded:

"Put yourself in her shoes. You are trying to ruin the single most important legacy of her father. Do you think she will come?"

He deflected his question about his concern for the situation by completely ignoring it.

Victor's brow furrowed at this address. It was as if he could not digest his words. He spoke angrily through clenched teeth:

"I... I didn't mean to do anything like that! I just..."

James raised his eyebrows.

"Just what? You just wanted to upset her?"

Victor retorted loudly, unable to control his anger:

"I just wanted her to need me!"
