16 Conflict between Love and Duty

It was saturday morning when I received a call from the authorities. I was tasked to investigate the sudden influx of incidents connected to the ancient god extremists. As a government agent, I have been trained to handle such situations with utmost care and diligence.

As I walked past the park, I saw my fiancé, Rahu, sitting on a bench talking to a woman around his age. They seemed to be engaged in a deep conversation. My heart sank as I realized that jealousy was consuming me.

"Who is that woman?" I muttered to myself. I felt a pang of jealousy and couldn't resist walking towards them.

Just as I was about to approach them, my phone rang, interrupting my thoughts. "Maria, we need your help. There's been an attack within the city suburbs. We need you to aid the authorities," said my colleague on the phone.

I took a deep breath and composed myself. Duty called, and I had to leave my personal matters aside. I turned around and walked away, leaving Rahu and the mysterious woman behind.

"Maria, are you there?" My colleague's voice came through the phone, urgency in his tone.

"Yes, I'm on my way," I replied, picking up my pace.

"The situation is escalating rapidly. We need you to get here as soon as possible," he continued.

"I'm doing my best," I said, trying to keep my voice calm.

As I rushed towards the scene, my mind raced with thoughts of the mission at hand. I had to remain focused and alert, no matter what distractions may come my way.

But the image of Rahu and the woman kept creeping back into my mind, fueling my jealousy and distracting me from my duty.

Finally, I arrived at the scene of the attack, the sound of explosions and screams ringing in my ears. My heart raced as I assessed the situation and prepared to take action.

"Maria, we need you to secure the perimeter and evacuate the civilians," my colleague instructed.

"Understood," I replied, gritting my teeth and pushing my personal feelings aside.

I am a dedicated public servant, committed to fulfilling my duty without any distractions. Despite my personal life, including my engagement to him, my job remains my top priority.

I was discussing the recent attacks with my colleague when I brought up the findings of the investigation. "After strict investigation, it has been determined that the culprit to these attacks were the Eyes of Naga," I said. "They're a group of shamans who are loyal to their beliefs and will do anything to awaken the Serpent God."

My colleague looked surprised. "I've never heard of them before. How did they manage to cause so much chaos without leaving any traces behind?"

"They used spirit bombers," I explained. "It's like an ordinary suicide bomber, but more devastating because they use their spirits to explode. And anyone who's within the effective range will corrupt their own souls if they're an ordinary citizen."

"That's terrible," my colleague said, looking concerned. "What can we do to stop them?"

"Well," I replied, "we need to gather more information about them and their plans. We also need to ensure that the public is aware of the danger they pose and take measures to protect themselves."

My colleague nodded in agreement. "We should also notify the authorities and see if they can help us in any way. We can't let this group continue to cause harm and put innocent lives at risk."

I agreed with my colleague's suggestions and we began to brainstorm other ways we could combat the Eyes of Naga and put an end to their dangerous activities. It was clear that we had a lot of work to do, but I was glad to have such a capable colleague by my side.

As I was chatting with my colleague about the recent events, she suddenly surprised me with a question that caught me off guard. "Hey, I've heard some rumors about you," she said with a grin. "Is it true that you're engaged to one of your students?"

I couldn't help but laugh at her teasing tone. "Yes, it's true!" I exclaimed. "I never thought I would fall for one of my students, but he captured my heart with his unwavering affection."

My colleague raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Wow, I never would have guessed! You're the 'Blue Temptress', after all. I thought you would never let anyone catch you!"

I rolled my eyes playfully. "Well, everyone has a soft spot, don't they?" I replied. "But I have to admit, it hasn't been all smooth sailing. With all the attention my fiancé gets for his talents, there have been a few women who've tried to steal his heart."

My colleague nodded in understanding. "I can imagine that would be tough. Has anything happened recently?"

I hesitated for a moment before deciding to share. "Actually, I caught him speaking nonchalantly with a young woman before I came here. They seemed really close, like they'd known each other for a while."

My colleague's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh no! Do you think there's something going on between them?"

I shook my head. "I highly doubt it. I trust him completely, and I know he would never do anything to hurt me. Besides, we're getting married once he graduates, so there's no reason for me to worry."

We continued chatting for a while, talking about our relationships and sharing stories about our personal lives. It was nice to have a break from work and just chat with my colleague.

After a long day of work and making a detailed report to my superiors, I walked back to the parking lot where my car was located. I was tired and ready to head home, but then my phone rang. It was Rahu.

"Hey, how was work?" he asked.

"It was busy, but I got everything done," I replied. "What about you?"

"I had a pretty relaxed day, actually," he said. "Listen, I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my place tonight. I could cook dinner for us."

My heart skipped a beat at his sweet offer. "I would love that," I said with a smile. "I'll head over right now."

As I drove to Rahu's house, I couldn't help but feel grateful for such a thoughtful fiancé. Despite his relaxed day, he wanted to make me dinner and spend time with me. It was moments like these that made me fall in love with him all over again
