1 Strange Dreams

'Ignis…Aqua…Ventus…Terra…Sanctus…Tenebris…Ignis…Aqua…-Ugh…'

'Where am I?'

A pure, dark blueish-white sky appeared in the eyes of a kid. He laid on a huge patch of lush green field filled with medium sized grass with small-rising hills occasionally breaking the view of the horizon but it stayed mostly plain, thus giving him a great view of the horizon where the sky met the land. It was a breathtaking yet simple landscape. A heavenly landscape. And right in the middle of it was the kid.

The kid looked like he was no older than 5 and his distinctive blonde hair and fair but dirty and matted skin highlighted himself in this heavenly landscape. On closer inspection, one might be able to discern the condition of his clothing which was pitiful but more than his dirt matted skin and half-torn clothes, what stood out more was his crystal-clear pearl blue eyes. Along with that, his light freckles beside his long straight nose and thin pink lips gave a dainty and serene look, a beauty that could even rival mature pageant ladies.

The boy looked around for a while, confused. 'Where the hell am I?' he thought as he slowly stood up. A little lethargic at first but then with more energy and vigor and with caution and confusion. He stood at nearly a meter tall with skinny arms and legs, malnourishment clearly visible on his young body.

He looked around a little at the heavenly landscape, possibly enraptured by the scenery before a sudden gale erupted out of the horizon and brushed past him, almost knocking him in the process.

'Whoa!' he cried in surprise but magically no words seem to come out of his mouth. Instead it seemed like his words resonated inside his head like a thought. The kid was surprised and his young, curious mind wanted to investigate it but something caught his attention.

Near the horizon, the crystal blue sky caved in, a black spot forming in the center like a black hole had erupted all of a sudden but then a plethora of colors erupted out of the seemingly black hole, filling the blue sky with myriads of colors, colors which were far from beautiful but a little scary at the same time.

The most striking of them, the devilish purple swallowed the sky like a ravenous beast as it headed towards the kid.

The kid looked shocked for a moment but when senses came back to him, he immediately turned around and dashed as fast as possible.

But for some strange reason, his speed kept on decreasing by an almost non-existent but immensely powerful force which was restricting him. Almost as if steel chains have been tied to his limbs.

Blood rushed to his face as he exerted every single ounce of power in his body to run but nothing happened. Exhausted he fell to the ground.

Looking back, he saw the purple sky devouring the blue sky at an increasing pace, other colors not far behind. The strange scene almost swept him like a hurricane, a fine thread of despair forming his immature heart and as if sensing that fine thread, the pace of the devouring increased ten-fold.

All of a sudden, the black hole from which this disastrous event began started convulsion, or something along that line. The hole expanded and contracted as if someone was trying to puncture a hole in a rubber surface but always being unsuccessful. Until it did.

The surface of the black hole cracked a little before caving in, much further and finally dissolving into a much darker hole. Almost instantly the speed of the 'eating' up of the sky increased but for now, the kid's attention had been completely drawn in by the events in the black hole.

The kid looked agape at the black hole which now started to rotate like an actual black hole, a thin layer of pure red forming at its edges. The black and red started to expand outward and after almost doubling their diameter in a span of a few blinks, another huge shockwave rocked the area, this time forcing the kid to close his eyes.

FWWOOOOOSSSHHHH!!

Regaining his sight, the kid looked back the hole only to find it larger than ever before and more threatening. It felt like he was looking at despair itself but fortunately, for a guy like him, despair wasn't something he had quite a hold off. Only a slight pang in heart and increased blood flow across the body, biologically speaking.

But what happened next, stopped his heart, literally.

The kid looked dumbfounded at the hole which now suddenly ripped at the middle. The devouring of the blue sky stopped for a split second by this sudden change before the rip expanded and expanded.

RRRRIIIIIIPPPPPP!!!!

The clear and crisp ripping of paper echoed throughout the plane as the seemingly small but dense hole was ripped like paper and from within emerged a figure.

A humanoid figure, it looked like but nothing human, the kid inferred. At first came a hand, a mighty hand with fingers the size of a grown, adult man with nails like talons and hand as thick as five horses tied on to of each other. The hand extended and extended until almost the entire arm was visible. The figure stopped for a while before another hand ripped through the hole like a harpoon puncturing the skin of a whale. It too, did the exact same thing, extend until the entire arm was visible. Then again, it stopped for a moment. A moment which seemed like infinity before a loud roar shocked the entire plane.

RRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Like an avalanche hitting, the kid was flung across like paper mâché. Shocked and dumbfounded, the kid looked up to find the two large arms pushing sideways against the hole, extending the rip into the sky before a wide rip had been formed.

Hushhhhhhhh…

An almost indiscernible but distinct sound echoed through the rip with signs of something large extending outward. The kid looked horrified but suddenly, a blinding light erupted behind him. His back felt a soothing embrace as the light flooded his peripheral view cascading the landscape into a pure white. Almost like an instinct in his gene, the kid tried to look behind only to find an almost silent yet powerful voice resounds in his head.

'Don't look.'

Almost instantly, his body freezes over as in any re time freeze. His pupils moved the edge of his eyes but he saw nothing other than the blinding white light. With no choice, his eyes moved back towards the black hole where the creature was invading. The creature was doing something, poking one of his body parts out for sure but the kid's little experience makes him unable to discern what it was. But he didn't need to do that.

As the white light covered more and more of his view, a certain something invaded his sight. Wings. Large, flaming wings with hot flames spewing right from its edges. It was large from one end to another, the kid was sure, but the distance also didn't let him view anything else of this winged figure. The kid looked in awe as the winged figure dashed towards the hole at an incredible speed, reaching it in almost no time. For a few seconds, he feels as if the winged figure stopped still but then it was impossible to see something happening the horizon clearly with the eyes of a 5-year-old boy. The kid strained his eyes but nothing of sort happened for a few seconds but then something big happened. Above the winged figure, a huge fireball started to form, swishing and swirling like a mini sun. The creature in the hole clearly felt agitated and tried to swipe at the winged figure with its hands but before the hand could even meet the figure, the fireball met with the hand.

BOOOOM!

A deafening black echoed from the point of contact sending shockwaves after shockwaves towards the kid, throwing him around like a paper mâché. This time, it took him a little bit more time to stabilize himself but when he did, he was shocked yet again.

The whole world was on fire as columns after columns of flames rose to the sky joining the hell underneath to the flaming sky above. The kid looked baffled and agitated as he checked his own body to see a white light lightly covering his body. The light was soothing and protecting him from the terrible heat and flames all around him. As the white light extended, it left behind a patch of … nothing. His body was vanishing with the white light. Shocked but he understood the gist of what was happening and thus looked at the area of battle, only to find that the battle had long ended. The winged figure was nowhere to be found and the rip on the sky mostly repaired and mended. From the small rip which still existed, a low whistling sound escaped as if someone was breathing roughly after a huge fight.

The kid's heart calmed down as he firmly understood that the showdown has ended with the invading creature's defeat, even if that meant that the world was on fire now. The kid sighed in relief but suddenly, like a bolt out of blue, something moved in the black rip. It looked something of an … eye. An eye which was an almost elliptical white with no sign of pupil. In fact, it didn't even look like an eye but for some reason, in the kid's heart that thing was an eye. And he knew it.

In a split second, the kid's heart stopped as the nearly white 'eye' of the monster stared at him before being replaced by the infinite darkness. The rip has closed. For a moment a big sigh escaped inside the kid's heart but before he could rejoice, his vision went black.
