chapter 70

Morning broke with a muted light, casting a somber glow across the halls of Storm's End. The castle stirred with the weight of mourning, its ancient stones bearing witness to the solemn activity within. Servants moved with a quiet efficiency, the scent of incense hanging heavy in the air as they readied the grand hall for the funeral.

Clad in dark attire that befitted the occasion, William emerged from his chamber, n. Rhaenyra followed suit. And, In Malevor's room, the newborn prince was getting readied up by the maids for the funeral.

Guided by the flickering torchlight, the family of three descended the stone corridors of Storm's End. The echoes of their footsteps resonated through the ancient halls, blending with the distant sounds of preparations and creating an austere symphony that heralded the solemn occasion.

...

As they reached the grave, marked by a weathered stone bearing the sigil of House Baratheon,  Rakharo approached. His eyes, filled with sorrow, met William's gaze.

"Your father was a great man." Rakharo spoke, his voice a gentle murmur. "And I'm sure you would make a fine lord yourself."

Hugging the man, and thanking him. William turned and looked at the place that was already filled with dignitaries, servants, and members of House Baratheon, each clad in somber attire that reflected the occasion. As William, Rhaenyra, and Malevor took their places at the front.

The maester stepped forward, his voice carrying through the air as he began the ceremonial words of farewell. "Today, we gather to bid farewell to Boremund Baratheon, the lord of Storm's End." he said then continued: "May his soul find peace in the halls of the afterlife, and may his legacy endure in the annals of history."

The mourners bowed their heads in unison, a collective acknowledgment of the solemnity of the moment. As the maester spoke, William felt the weight of responsibility settle upon his shoulders. He was going to become the new Lord of Storm's End.

But William was ready for whatever challenges that will come.

After the maester's words, the mourners began to offer their condolences to the William, and Rhaenerya to which they accepted.

With only one thing on William's mind.

And that is that it was going to be a long day of mourning.
