chapter 47

In the throne room, in King's Landing. Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, stood before Viserys Targaryen, and cleared his throat, a note of solemnity in his voice as he began to speak.

"Your Grace, I bring news from Dragonstone," Otto said with a measured tone. "A message has arrived, and it bears significant tidings."

Viserys, seated upon his ornate throne, raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "What news has come from Dragonstone?"

Otto hesitated for a moment before delivering the revelation. "It is reported that William Baratheon, has disappeared from his chambers late at night. And then returned. What is more, he has formed a bond with a dragon during his absence. The legendary Cannibal."

A look of shock passed over Viserys' face, his features frozen in astonishment. "The Cannibal? William has tamed The Cannibal?"

Otto nodded gravely. "Indeed, Your Grace. The message makes no mistake. The Baratheon, has tamed a dragon, and The Cannibal nonetheless."

Viserys leaned back in his throne, contemplative. "I did not anticipate that a Baratheon, even with the scant Targaryen lineage they possess, would be able to form such a bond."

Otto, hearing this immediately his voice laced with concern, stepped closer to Viserys. "Your Grace, I must express my worry. The return of a dragon as formidable as The Cannibal poses a significant danger to the realm. And for the rider to be a Baratheon. Such power could disrupt the balance of power in Westeros."

Viserys' brows furrowed, Otto's advice have been becoming worse and worse.

First, he suggested, for him to wed Rhaenyra to her younger brother who wasn't even a year old. And now he was suggesting taking the dragon from William.

With that, Viserys looked at Otto Hightower and said: "William is my daughter's husband, the future king consort. I will not take the dragon away from him."

Otto Hightower opened his mouth as if to voice further concerns, but Viserys cut him and said: "You're dismissed."

With a decisive bow, Otto Hightower retreated from the throne room, leaving Viserys alone with his thoughts. The fate of Dragonstone, the return of The Cannibal, and the bond formed between a Baratheon and a dragon hung heavily in the air.

Viserys knew that difficult decisions lay ahead, decisions that would shape the destiny of dragons and the realm itself. As he contemplated the path forward, he couldn't help but wonder if the bond between William and The Cannibal would bring prosperity or peril to the realm.
