62 Shooting in Tokyo

The shooting dates of "Lost in Translation" were set in the beginning of March. The budget of the whole movie is 5 million $, which is even less than "Memento's". Sofia's positioning of the movie is low-cost literary style, so the shooting dates can also not be long. The whole shooting would be completed in the month of March or at maximum first week of April.

The actor playing opposite to her is Bill Murray, an Oscar winning actor. For this movie, both Bill and and Amy just received a symbolic pay of 15k and 10k, which may be less than their daily expenses. This is just giving Sofia and Coppola family a face, otherwise there's no way an Oscar winning actor or even Amy would act on such a low paycheck. Sofia also understands the truth, that's why she's very friendly with actors.

The filming location of the movie is set in Tokyo as per the need of plots. Amy who came a few days earlier went out to see the scenery and shopping. Amy has never stopped herself on spending money and she buys whatever she likes. Tokyo is a beautiful place and Amy enjoyed her outings a lot. The culture and quiet atmosphere is indeed a lot different from fast running America. The life here is steady, while in America, your everyday passes like a fast moving train.

A few days later, the complete crew had gathered and shooting started. Amy met her co-star Bill Murray, who plays the role of American actor Bob in the movie. Bill Murray is an Oscar winning actor with great movies including "Ghostbusters" and "Groundhog day". He was polite with Amy and they didn't had much talk outside the set. Sofia was instead very polite to her, and Amy had pleasent time working together.

The shooting of the movie was almost completed in the span of month and just few of the shots were left. On an occasional day of shooting, Sofia called Amy to talk about something before the day of working began.

"Sofia, you called, Is there something to talk about?"

Sofia who was checking the materials and making arrangements for the set, looked up at the actor of her film. Amy Collins, a new name which has taken Hollywood by the wind. Only three works of her have been released yet, but all of them are lead roles and superhits. She smiled and said to Amy: "It's nothing, I wanted to discuss something with you about today's scenes."

Sofia explained to Amy that today was going to be a kiss scene between her and Bill Murray. Although kissing or even nudity is not taken seriously in Hollywood, but people are still very critical of age gaps. Most people don't appreciate when there is a romance between two people of a large age difference. So, she informed Amy earlier before the shoot.

Amy heard Sofia's concern and replied: "I don't mind it as long as it remains true to the content written in the script." In the script, it was written that there is a vague affection between Bob and Charlotte, but there was no proper mention of romance or love between them. So, there's nothing to be afraid of as long as there is not open romance or confession in the movie.

Sofia was happy that Amy didn't make any fuss. She was worried that as a new actor, Amy will be afraid of public criticism. She said "Of course, the content will not be out of the script. You don't have to worry about this."

The problem was solved without any fuss. Sofia's attitude also improved a lot from before and was even a little more friendly. After all, which director won't like actors who coperate with the director properly.

The shooting of the movie was completed in the first week of April, and only post production was left. Amy's work was completed and post-production and editing has nothing to do with her. So, she flew back to Los Angeles.

Richard came to pick up Amy from the airport. He said: "How was the shooting. You don't look like someone who came from shooting for a month."

Amy replied: "It was quite good. I enjoyed Tokyo a lot. Except shooting, I spent most of the time shopping and eating."

"I can see it by looking at extra four suitcases in your luggage."

Amy sneered and didn't take Richard's mockery to heart. She never denied the fact that she likes shopping, and it is not something bad. After all, shopping is a woman's instinct.

On the way to home, Richard informed her about the details of the project whose script she wrote. The project is determined as a joint cooperation between 'Warner Bros Studio', Caa, Amy's 'Eternal pictures' and Tom's 'Cruise/Wagner' productions. The investment is setup as big production with the cost of 90 million dollars. It is not a small coat for a romantic movie. Nora Ephron was signed as the director and Amy and Tom will star in the roles of Elizabeth and Michael.

Warner Bros will make 50 percent of investment while Amy and Tom will each invest other 25, 25 percent. The amount of twenty million $ is not a big amount for Amy after the inheritance of nearly 200 million dollars which she received after her parents death.

The box office of "A walk to remember to remember" came out of 109 million $ and "Legally Blonde's" total box office also came out as 200 million. It became Amy's first movie to cross 200 million dollars mark.

Richard dropped Amy to her private villa in Beverly Hills. Tom was not at home as he is busy with the promotion of "Minority Report." It is the first coperation between Tom and Director Steven Spielberg. Media is also paying much attention to it. He is very busy with the matters and has to go to various cities to promote the movie.

Amy looked at her's little changed bedroom. The wardrobe is also changed with addition of Tom's clothes and things. Now it can be called a bedroom of two with the things of them both.
