CHAPTER 8 TRUTH

[Ding: new mission: Learn a language. Mission reward: None]

Garen felt incredulous even after leaving the Oldman's house. He couldn't believe what he saw and heard there. All kinds of impossible things were achieved with just a simple flick of the old man's hand.

Though for some unknown reason, the elder made he swear not to let anyone know what happened. And everytime he his asked about what he his doing over at bahil's place. He should only mention learning the common language and nothing else.

As for that words that keep appearing he gave quite some hint but the oldman seem to not know anything about it.

He couldn't help but feel as if he his special in some kind of way. After all there are dozens of kids here yet he was the only one bahil introduced to sorcery.

Garen walked, head held high and a small smile on his lip. Anyone seeing him would have thought he raided a Dragon's nest or married a princess.

Though everyone gave he strange looks but Garen didn't care at all, it's not like his joyful mood affected anyone but himself.

Days went by and everytime he his free, he will go to old bahil's place bad learn the common language. Though bahil didn't teach him any sorcery yet, he felt it was only a matter of time. Once he fully learned the common language, then he will truly have a chance at being a sorcerer.

Most of the able bodied men had split up into different teams to go down the mountain and raid villages and steal from the merchant groups. This made the whole mountain quite less lively and more quiet. Old bahil should have gone with them but since Garen studies are just coming to party, he gave an excuse of a failing health. Olauf went with the party giving Garen quite some free time which he spent extensively in old bahil's place.

Three months went by and soon Garen could understand most of the language quite well.

The familiar words once again appeared. The first three words were incomprehensible to him. But to his astonishment, he could actually understand the last sentence. His mouth went wide open. Good thing he was in his little room alone.

Garen looked on like a dumb duck. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. If he had still being in the mine, he might still dismiss it as some kind of prank. But now that he had learned about different kind of supernatural things from bahil, he couldn't help but anticipate how this will impact his life.

He focused on his intelligence stats for a while. His quest point rapidly reduced and once in reduced to 2142.

he felt a little different. He seem to understand a bit more of what old bahil said and things seemed a bit clearer to him.

He couldn't believe what is happening. He can actually increase his intelligence. He focused on his intelligence again and once a hundred quest point were deducted, his intelligence once again increased by one.

Garen felt a splitting headache, loud sound rang put all around him and he couldn't get his bearing. He tried to grasp something to steady himself but all he did was knock things over and soon he fell faced floor on the ground as his body convulsed.

After some minutes, he finally got back to normal and regained control over his body. It seems the use of the system is not without repercussion. He felt slightly afraid of using it.

Though the experience was painful, it was not like he didn't gain anything out of it. His mind got clearer and he could easily understand things that were difficult for him. His memory seem to have improved alot and he can remember word for word what happened to him 2weeks ago.

He felt the pain was quite worthwhile after all everything seem quite easy for him now and that will help alot in his sorcery training.

He got up from the floor and wiped off his sweat and changed his cloth. He walked out of his house and to bahil's. It was time for his lesson at bahil's place.

He got into the house and walked straight to the small room at the backyard. That is were he usually have his lessons.

Old bahil was already there. He seem to have just gotten there. Garen let out a small sigh of relief. The seemingly friendly old man easily changed into a demon anytime he got late for his lessons. He learned the painful lesson of punctuality with his blood and sweat.

"you have finally learned the common language. Now we shall begin your journey to greatness of truth."

"before we begin I must let you know, sorcery is about the unveiling of truth. The everlasting search for the truth of the world. You must not be blinded by emotions nor be held down by morals, nor held down by any mortal shackle. As you become a sorcerer, you have transcend the world of mortals and become a different being. You must not believe in any god nor goddess only the truth deserve your faith." the oldman said all this in one breath. His face stern and serious and he stretched out his hands and opened his hands.

"truth is the greatest. It is your lord. The code you abide by and your only calling."
