4 4. The begin of a city

After the feast, Perseus and his people go to rest for the night. 20 Fortunians join the goblins during the night watch. There are dangerous animals that go out to hunt at night; dire wolves, for instance. However, they are not much a concern compared to other creatures such as orcs. Orcs never settle, they keep going from places to places looking for their preys. In the unlucky settlements that encounter orcs, the civilians are slaughtered, females are raped and kidnapped for breeding purpose since there is no females in this race.

While Perseus's still thinking about the future, he falls asleep from both mental and physical exhaustion.

The next day.

" Here, as promise. These tools are the best for chopping woods and my builders will help you build your settlement. " Kurk speaks. Although his wounds are still not fully recovered, yet he stills move around actively counting the sheep exchanged for the goblins' tools and labor.

Perseus's head sores a bit; they have around 500 sheep if counting the babies as well. And they have shared nearly 200 with the Redhorn tribe already. However, Perseus reckons this is a good investment due to the fact the goblins can make iron tools, so farming and building will be much easier, now.

After discussing with Clovis and some of the elders, Perseus begins to give the command. All of the Fortunians will be divided into three teams: farming, building and transporting. The farming team will start ploughing the pasture, gather grasses for horses and sheep in winter. The transporting team will chop the woods, deliver the grasses to the temporary storage house. The building team will work with the goblin builders to start building the settlement.

Perseus decides to build the settlement on top of the hill next to the river. After drawing a general overview on hides, Perseus directly commands the building team. His plan is simple: he will set up the meeting hall on the top of the hill. The hall will follow the Norse mead hall style since it is easy to build and in tribal era, no doubt it is one of the most fascinating design.

There will be two wooden Palisade built protecting the place. The first one will surround the hill, or the future inner part of the settlement. The meeting hall, armory, storage house and barracks will be built in this part. The outer part will be protected by the second Palisade, including civilians' living area, gardens seasoned fruits will be planted; however, the farming area will be placed outside the settlement due to lack of space. If the Fortunians decide to build walls to surround all the area that they are going to farm, it will take months before they finish.

After buying the seeds, Perseus decide to just plant the winter cereals first and leave other seeds for the next spring. Winter cereal is a special type of crop that sown during autumn an germinate before winter comes. It can still survive the cold and snow of the winter so when springtime comes, they can harvest and recover the food supplies that they consume on wintertime. Before snow appears, the Fortunian hunters will try their best to hunt as much animals as possible , since now the Fortunians are responsible not for themselves only but for their goblin alliance as well. Promise is promise, if the Fortunians can't support the Redhorns with food, their reputation will be over.

" In the worst case, I can just spend the rest of my CP to buy food. But it'll be difficult to explain where the food comes from afterward." Perseus thinks. CP is a convenient currency; however, it will get harder to earn them eventually so if possible, Perseus wants to save his CP as much as possible. In emergencies such as Kurk attacking him yesterday, he managed to buy the ultimate skill to boost mankind's brute strength and overpower Kurk. This was one of the factors the Redhorn tribe decided to work together with the Fortuna tribe since races like goblin respect the strong. They will not accept a ruler who is not goblin so forging an alliance is the best move that Perseus thought of.

After two weeks of hard works form both humans and goblins, the settlement has been built successfully. Perseus and his men look at the infrastructures with joy on their faces. No longer they have to sleep under the sky, no longer their clothes will be wet under the heavy drops of the rain. The winter cereal farm has already been visited by the green of newborn offsets. In the process of cooperating, Perseus knows that his men and the goblins have developed an understanding of each other.
