Antebellum

Sharpclaw blinked before frowning sharply, his eyes narrowed at Vallun's words. There was no doubt about it, the battle was about to begin. His head slowly looked at Smaug and Cobalt, the both of them could see how serious he was.

"D-Dad?", asked Cobalt as she looked at her father with great concern.

Sharpclaw looked at her and gave her a smile, "Don't give me that face. Everything will be okay."

With those words did he turn around, he looked at Vallun as he said. "Get everyone together, I will meet the ugly bastard half way."

Cobalt looked shocked, her heart was firmly pounding up against her rib cage. She was fearful about the situation, and what could possibly happen to her father. Heck, to everyone who was in the clan.

Death was always a guarantee in battle, but it was so much higher when it came to war.

Smaug was about to say something but Sharpclaw looked at him sternly. "Don't you worry. I will go meet that brute halfway. I'd rather die than let him interfere with my daughters wedding."

Smaug frowned in anger, "Yeah, but going out there to meet him halfway? What the hell!?!"

Sharpclaw smiled, his stubbornness began to show. "I ain't gonna die that easily boy!"

Sharpclaw walked away from them with a smile, he began to give out his order in a orderly fashion. Everyone stopped what they were doing, as they begun to get ready for war.

Smaug watched him go with a look of pure frustration upon his face. While Cobalt looked terrified, was her father serious about this.

Smaug looked at Cobalt with a thoughtful look before he turned around to face her. "Cobalt..."

Cobalt looked at him curiously still a little shaken about the whole thing, "Yes..?"

Smaug gave her a smile as he placed his forehead against her own, this gesture caused Cobalt to blush. "Uh..?"

Smaug finally spoke, "I am going to promise you that we will have a proper wedding after this is all over. So wait for me."

Cobalt had light tears in her eyes as she nodded slowly yet softly. "Okay..."

Smaug moved his head away as he followed after Sharpclaw, Cobalt only watched with a soft smile on her features.

In a split second the clan was celebrating for a wedding but now they were beginning to get ready for war. Sharpclaw blinked taking notice of Smaug who was prepping himself for combat.

"Smaug? What are you doing?", asked Sharpclaw with a frown.

Smaug looked at him seriously as he said, "I will not let you go to war alone. You are part of the wedding to, so I will not let you do something so incredibly stupid by yourself."

Sharpclaw stared at him for some time before he smirked, "Fine. I swear you are just as stubborn as me, which I don't like that."

Smaug gave a brief smile in response to Sharpclaw's words.

The clan of Sharpclaw began to move out, the females and the youngsters were told to stay in the clan walls. The females will act as herbalist if needed if someone was to get hurt.

Cobalt was scared as she watched them leave, it was a serious situation. But she had faith in her father as well as her husband, which she could not believe that Smaug was her husband.

It seemed like yesterday that Smaug and her had only just met, but now look at them.

Smaug walked beside Sharpclaw as the both of them led the clan into combat. His two pets were running out in front of them.

A good amount of walking distance from the camp led them to a semi large area of land, with the ground still some what wet from a rain shower that happened a few days ago.

In the distance the trees were still burned due to the volcano eruption a few years ago. The damages that the volcano has caused were slowly recovering, though it would take longer for everything to properly recover.

Sharpclaw blinked taking notice of movement that was in front of them. They were not rexes, they were something completely different from that. He had to assume that these were the beasts that Vallun had mentioned.

The area they were in was vast, with a large amount of open space. Smaug glared when he noticed a large figure, his guess was that this was the rex who gave Sharpclaw and his clan a hard time in the past.

Dreadtooth smirked, right by his side was a creature who shared a lot of similarities to a ceratosaurus. However, it's body was covered in strange frill like quills that one would see on a different animal. That and the beast had raptor like claws upon its feet.

"You made a mistake, you know that?", spoke Dreadtooth who didn't look scared. As he spoke three more creatures came up from behind him, along with a large amount of rexes who were more than ready for combat.

Sharpclaw scoffed, his gaze was locked on Dreadtooth. "I'm ready to kick your ass."

Smaug looked at his two pets who were growling viciously at Dreadtooth and his clan.

Two large clans of one of the same species, with two different leaders. Two leaders who had different beliefs and views than the other. With different views, of course a battle was definitely going to happen.

Dreadtooth smirked as he took notice of Smaug's pets, he didn't look fazed as he said. "We will see who kicks whose ass."

Smaug looked at Dreadtooth with a unfriendly glare, his claws flexed for he was ready for the next move. It was anyone's move, and he knew that.

Smaug had to keep in mind that these creatures that the rex leader had were so different from anything that he had seen. The one that looked like a ceratosaurus like raptor looked agile and fast the more he glanced at it.

The other three were without a doubt, creatures from some kind of nightmare.

The largest one among them was one that was the size of a giganotosaurus, who had what looked like blades that were on each side of its jaws. Along with longer claws upon each of its three fingers.

The other two were the same size, being about the size of a rex. Though they each had different looking spikes on their tails similar to that of a stegosaurus and a kentrosaurus.

Smaug did not doubt that this was going to be a challenge, but challenges were greatly appreciated. After all he was going to get stronger after he faced them.

Dreadtooth smirked as he flicked his head, and it was then at this moment did his clan move in for battle. The sounds of all these rexes were similar to a stampede of the blind, the ground floor shook as they charged at them.

Roaring as they charged made everything seem so surreal.

There was no turning back now.

Sharpclaw charged forward along with his own clan, the sounds that went down became intense. Like it was storming, though no storm clouds were evident in the sky.

The war had begun.

The first to meet were Smaug's two pets as they both jumped on the ceratosaurus like beast. It was not long until a rex met a spinosaurus and vice versa.

So much was happening and the blood to be spilled was from a rex.

When there is death, there is more death that would follow. Not to mention the blind beasts picking up the scents of blood.

After all blood was so enticing to the blind.

Sharpclaw was going for Dreadtooth but was stopped by the giganotosaurus. He glared at the beast before moving out of the way when it went to slice at him with its own blades.

Mutations were not normal, and Sharpclaw could see that now.

Dreadtooth smirked as he watched the chaos happen, the two beasts were following him like obedient dogs to a master. While the giganotosaurus fought against Sharpclaw.

Smaug was quickly taking on anyone that he could comfortably see. One rex would fall every time they would try to fight him. Improvising, he took off two bone blades from a rexes jaws and decided to use them as his own.

Smaug looked at Flaay as he said, "Hands up!"

Flaay looked over and smiled as he caught one of the bone blades from Smaug, that he had thrown.

Smaug watched as Flaay stabbed a rex in the top of the head with it. He smirked before quickly turning to slit a rex by a throat when it charged at him.

As each second passed by, more bodies began to fall, soaking the ground slowly with blood. This was a slaughter as well as a war, and it was clear that Dreadtooth did not care.

Were as Sharpclaw cared, each time one of his clan members died did he get emotional. He would retaliate against the one who killed them.

A loud painful howl and then another, pain and blood poured out of the bodies of the wounded. The dead littered the floor, which give hint to how final death was.

The giganotosaurus was unmercifully swinging its head at Sharpclaw, while Sharpclaw and a few others of his clan tried taking on the massive mutant. The beast was so unlike anything he had seen, but Sharpclaw was not going to die. Not today.

Dreadtooth blinked as he heard a sound, turning did he see Flaay. Dreadtooth smirked as he watched Flaay glare at him.

"You bastard!", hissed Flaay as he charged at him.

Smaug blinked catching sight of Flaay from the corner of his eyes, his eyes went wide however when he saw Flaay getting impaled by a tail with spikes. It was like a slow motion for Smaug, to see someone who was like a brother getting hurt. "FLAAY!?!"

The moment he yelled this, did it seem like time continued in its normal flow. Smaug glared as he roared running over to help Flaay while taking out anyone who was in his path, he honestly didn't want him to die.

Smaug got to Flaay who had four stab wounds upon his chest, he was still barely alive though blood flowed from his mouth. Smaug looked down at Flaay with a pained expression, "Flaay...!"

Flaay looked at him as he slowly moved to stand, "I'm okay bud..."

Smaug stared at him silently with his hands shaking, he looked upset when Flaay fell back onto the floor holding his chest. "Ugh okay maybe I am not alright..."

"Flaay you can't...", spoke Smaug before glaring.

There was a good bit of laughter, everyone was fighting around them but as his eyes lifted did he catch sight of Dreadtooth.

His sickening sneer as he watched him grieve over Flaay, made his entire body come alive with rage.

Smaug flinched as Flaay slowly took a hold of Smaug's hands, with tears in his eyes. Flaay's chest bled much worse giving hint to the full extent of his wounds. "Take care of my sis... okay?"

"N-No...you can't!", stammered Smaug as he watched the life slowly drain from Flaay's eyes.

Never in his life had Smaug come to be so close to someone, it was just him and his pets. Now, he had watched someone that was like a brother to him die. To lose someone like that, really hurt him more than losing any kind of battle.

Smaug was silent as he stared at Flaay's body, what would Cobalt say. Flaay was suppose to make them a meal, he was supposed to be at the wedding with them.

But now, he was gone.

Smaug's hands shook as he slowly took a hold of the bone blade that he had given Flaay. His eyes narrowed sharply as he slowly looked at Dreadtooth. He bared his fangs, as his eyes slowly became wet with faint tears. "I'LL KILL YOU!?!"

He roared this at Dreadtooth who laughed in a heartless way, "Pathetic! You cry for a weakling?"

"He wasn't weak! He was a friend! A brother!", hissed Smaug as he strongly gripped the bone blades that were in his hands.

Sharpclaw having heard Smaug looked over in surprise, he glared as he yelled. "Kill the son of a bitch!?!"

Smaug hissed out, "I plan too."

The pain of losing a friend, was probably the most difficult of pain there was. But it could be the greatest of motivations in the world. To someone who was heartless they wouldn't understand. Smaug was going to get revenge against Dreadtooth, so that Flaay could rest in peace.

The war has shown how horrible it can be, for Smaug had lost someone who was actually a brother to him. Flaay is gone and now he plans to get back at Dreadtooth!

What are your thoughts? I am not going to lie, I cried a little as Flaay died. Did you feel the same as I did? I would like to know!
