Amid The Ruins

Pain was something that was a common thing within our world, and to put it simply. It was the only thing that could keep us alive. As odd as it sounds, without pain, you were not even alive. Cause once you die, you don't feel anything anymore.

We are always afraid of when that day will come. Which was why we fight so hard to stay alive and live.

Cause all of us don't even know how much longer we will have on this world, that is our home.

With each step we walk, we are always constantly followed by the beasts who look like us. These beast are the blind which are always our common enemy and know nothing about purpose. To us they are reminders of our former selves, and as such we must forget them and leave them in what is known as our forgotten past.

We must walk forward and evolve and enter a new future for ourselves, cause if we don't. Who will?

Time was precious, but so was life. Both of these things were crucial for us, but for the blind they show little to no interest in it. They attack with sharpen teeth, and wild eyes in hopes of getting an easy meal. They lunge and bite in reckless abandon as they scream from their hollowed minds.

They don't know what we know, they can't see what we can see. Though, we hate them and kill them we can't help but pity them and see our old selves within them.

To pity them really did prove that we the conscious were so very different from them. That was what separated us from them. In order to survive we must first make a home for ourselves, without it our future generations will perish.

It was not long until the sun was rising high in the sky as a new day opens up for us, in order for us to find a new home. A new foundation for all of those who are conscious, for that is all that we have. Which is each other.

Looking back to those following him, Razzak shook his head before turning around and walking forward. Amberhide was close behind him, while looking at the vast open fields and distant mountain tops that rest along the bottom of the sky. Crisp the air was as the early morning passes through all of the residents who had lost their home.

Skyfall was flying further out in front of those who were still eagerly searching for a place to call their own. The place that he recommended was closer now, and the pteranodon looked back at the remains of the community who followed Razzak's order.

Indeed there was fear and uncertainty, but above all else the lot of them were all very hopeful.

One day went by, and then two. It was not long until they had been walking for a few days, and finally they reached the place that they were traveling too. A vast land was open before them, with massive amounts of water and forests. The sight alone captured the many eyes of the weary travelers, as they looked at the sight before them.

The sky took on a warming glow as if welcoming them, as a few mountains were seen in the distance while being covered in a vast light. Amberhide was speechless while Razzak smirked as he looked around. "This is the place."

At his words, many were talking in their excitement while others were already looking at the different places that they wish to claim.

Devastate looked at the lands with interest much like Smaug who looked at it while standing at his side. Ripper looking serious looked at Zorah as he walked forward and the little trike followed after him obediently. "Let's get to work."

These words were powerful as they went through the many who were left from the community, and right away did they all began moving in unity. Every single individual were working together to make this place their home. As they all worked, Razzak was providing protection with a few others who wanted to aid him.

The working days were far greater than the traveling days that they used into coming here. Lucky again there was peace among them, as they worked.

Clearing out the forests, taking on the blind, working together on this new community. This gave them the strength that they needed to live on and continue living. Of course, they could not forget the old community for there was far to many memories there. They had to move on as harsh as that sounded, they must.

For living in the past, could probably get them killed.

With having suffered heavy losses that they had, they sure made up for it with teamwork. With time they made good progress on getting the new wall built, it was not even all that much longer until more creatures who were in hiding, came out.

Their numbers grew within the coming days, and soon they were able to get back up onto their feet. As they worked, laughter rang out from those who feared that they wouldn't be able to laugh again. The number of blind encounters dwindled greatly due to their teamwork and strength.

This new community was up in such a great amount of time, and with new trikes and herbivores they were able to get it done quickly. This work was all thanks to Ripper who fully stepped up into being the leader that they all needed, and every single creature looked up to him.

Walls of wood and hard oak stood taller than the old community, with bones sticking out of the ground to repel the blind from getting to close. Heightened was the security as well thanks to Razzak, who was a powerful creature of structure and protection. His unit was finally realized, for there was plenty who wanted to provide protection and keep watch during the night.

Ahnyx was the head herbalist and he was able to teach a few lucky creatures to aid him with keeping the health of this community. Belle was still his assistant but she had a helper who was Wraith as surprising as that sounded.

Gambit was able to get back onto his feet, and it was not long until he became a head herbalist as well and he nominated Wraith to be his assistant. Wraith did let him have it of course, with a few harsh words. And a few hits of her claws.

Amberhide was able to smile again, and he was extremely thrilled that he was able to see Hawkeye growing things within the community walls. They had mentioned it before, but they never had a chance to for the old community had fallen before they were able to get that chance. Herbs were being grown along with a few other things that the herbivores could eat. Rain helped in growing things with him, while many were taking care of all that they were growing.

This definitely was a step in the right direction, and they all had finally found the place that they were looking for so dearly.

Jaeger was appointed of course against his will to stand beside Ripper, and be the second in command. The brute didn't even fight back, but he did find it odd that the leader had done that.

Devastate was a part of Razzak's unit, much like Smaug though the spinosaurus leader was speaking of probably leaving soon due to him being far away from his clan. He sort of doubted that Sharpclaw could handle things when he was alone.

Razzak was quite accepting of Adder, Grim, and Jr as well as Lockjaw and his small crew which included Clade and Rigor. The security was incredibly strong now for it was not just carnivores who were apart of it, a few herbivores wished to join up as well.

Swiftscale and Ebony were the teachers of the community of the youth, this included Zorah. Poor Ripper, he had a hard time enrolling her into it. The young trike was adamant about staying with him, but she was still far to young and still needed to learn. Swiftscale even allowed Ruby to help out for she adored kids.

Then there was Scarface, the head and leader of hunting unit for the community. This was something that Razzak asked of him, and in his shock Scarface merely stared at him silently. Scarface accepted the rank of course for he was glad to provide for them, even though Ruby was against it.

The hunting unit consisted of Scalpmuzzle and Gullet. Cripple happily joined in with Goong who was all about going out and getting food. In truth however, he probably wanted to get away from Gambit.

This new community was flourishing well, and with it were there a few offspring that were able to run around and play. However, there was one child who had no one. This child was a young rex who had apparently lost his way from his parents. Razzak found him outside of the wall one night, and brought him in.

No one wanted him, probably due to the fact that he was different that or if he did have parents they didn't want to get trouble with them. In any case the young rex was conscious but his appearance was different from any normal rex that they had seen. Mutants were accepted in this community, but some rumors were starting to spread about him.

Some believe that he was a bad omen and that there was no way that he lost his way from his parents. This kept him from being able to make friends but a gentle creature approached him.

Huddled in a ball against the wall, the little black rex with red colors upon his face with blood red feathers along his back shivered to the presence of a white raptor. Belle happily took him in, which fascinated the masses. Devastate didn't refuse her wish to adopt him, and decided to raise the child with her. Though, they couldn't help but wonder where his parents were.

They decided to give him the name, Devokus. This young rex who they adopted was courageous but had a strong heart. It was almost like he was fully Devastate's son when it came to personality.

Finally, after so long the work began to settle down for every single creature, they were all able to live peacefully. Though it was peaceful, they still worked on their respectable jobs. As well as keeping the blind away. However it became less peaceful once the egg that Belle had was beginning to hatch one night.

"What do I do!", whimpered Belle as she looked at the egg that was beginning to hatch. "I've done this before but I'm a little rusty!"

Gambit watched curiously as the egg shook about, under the moonlight. Devastate was watching the egg while Devokus sat close to it and watched. "Stay calm.", grumbled the behemoth. "You're not alone remember?"

Belle smiled comforted by his words, "Right."

Gambit tilted his head when he saw a bit of a nose poking out, and Devokus jumped to it while saying. "It's a snout!"

Belle giggled at him as Devastate smirked. Helm who was watching, couldn't help but chuckle himself at the young rex who was watching intently.

"Get out you little sniffer! Face the world and roar your lungs out!", teased Gambit as he went to move a shard of the egg away.

Wraith made a sound which in turn made him flinch. "Let them get out on their own!"

Gambit looked at her with wide eyes, "Hey! Help is always appreciated!"

All around them was the group of Bloodmaw, who watched the hatching take place. Ruby was smiling big, while Scarface looked at her with a funny expression.

"Oh! There is the snout again!", yelled Devokus with wide red eyes.

Belle watched while feeling her heart race, her blue hues were watering up from the excitement and adoration for this little raptor who was about to be born. The shell broke further as a innocent squeak came from the small mouth of the new born.

Gambit blinked at the little ones appearance for they didn't have any feathers, and were very different from that of normal raptors here. Cripple smiled as she spoke up, "I think that is so cool!"

Cripple obviously didn't mind the difference, much like all of them who were taking part in this experience. It didn't happen a lot, to see new life being born.

Ahnyx chuckled at her, "Well some raptors have been known to be different?"

Belle carefully sat herself down as she looked at the little raptor before her as it wiggled out of the egg, and she smiled softly at them for they almost looked to be white in color though they were a light whiteish grey. Along their neck was darker gray colored stripes that went down along their back and tail.

Swiftscale smiled as Belle picked the little one up as she turned around to let them all see the hatchling better. Devastate smiled at the sight of Belle for she looked to be a happy mother.

"Is it a boy?", asked Devokus excitedly.

Belle smiled at him, "Nope!"

Gambit laughed a bit at Devokus who was disappointed for his tail drooped, but his head perked up fast.

"Little sister!", grinned Devokus as he looked at the little raptor who squeaked at him curiously.

Ebony looked at Belle curiously, "What name are you figuring on giving her?"

Belle made a thinking face before smiling, "Loa!"

Harmony smiled at her while Nina laid beside her, and in between them was Eden and Enyo who were fast asleep. "Congrats on the healthy baby.", purred Harmony.

Belle smiled at her in her thanks, she then looked at Ahnyx. "I will check her out in the morning."

Gambit scoffed, "She is healthy! There be no-!"

Before he could finish, Wraith smacked him on the head which made everyone laugh.

Laughter was a pleasing sound, while outside of the wall was Razzak and Lockjaw. It was a oddly strange sound that was taking place, for the calls of the blind still happened and yet the night maintained some kind of peacefulness.

Perhaps, the world was giving them a nice long reprieve? If that was so, then they were going to make it count.

When there was peace, there could be destruction else where. This was the case for Reza who was still leading her small group to the community, but what was waiting for her was the aftermath of what had took place.

Violent roars were now taking over the place that was just remnants of the old community, the giant monstrosity was greedily enjoying the territory that it had claimed. Among this large beast, were the blind who were relishing their rewards. Reza could see this from the distance with wide eyes.

"I can't believe it.", she quietly spoke while looking from a safe distance.

Savagejaw frowned at the sight, his eyes looked at her now. "What now?"

Reza gave a firm determined look, as she glanced back at her group who were waiting for her call. She looked at the sight that was just destruction, "We move on, surely they all didn't die."

Savagejaw nodded as he looked at the group that was behind him.

Shifting into the shadows of the trees, Reza began to carefully move her group elsewhere. But little did she know, she was being watched.
