Meeting an Interesting Boy

Xavier Corporation, ruling over the pharmaceutical industry, was one of the leading companies of Z nation. After conquering this industry, it also gained a foothold on real estate, automobile industry and continued to spread its small but firm branches on almost every industry in the nation. The Xavier Corporation was founded by the old and aristocratic Xavier Clan which existed since the foundation of the Z nation.

At the Xavier Corporation, the current CEO Alaric Xavier was going through his hectic work schedule as usual. At the age of 34, this heir of the Xavier family had shown his skills as a great leader and brought the company to new heights. Despite his fame of changing girls like changing clothes, he's regarded as a golden bachelor and an attraction to many. Everyone was all hawking on the most prestigious Mrs. Xavier position and attempting to gain his interest. Oh the poor women had to be disappointed every time!

Alaric was a busy man wishing he could have forty-eight hours instead of twenty-four hours a day. To appoint a meeting with him one may need to wait for 3-5 months before it could fit into his schedule. Lately he had been feeling rather annoyed at the clinginess of the women surrounding him. As a result, in the past few years most of his time had been invested into his work and thus finding less time with other affairs.

"Sir, a young man has requested for a meeting with you," The secretary spoke through the intercom.

Alaric felt annoyed at the sudden disturbance. Frankly, he didn't have the leisure time to entertain any unexpected guests. As he was about to scold the secretary, he continued,

"Sir, apparently this boy is referred by Lawyer Kim and specifically requested to be granted an appointment with you."

Well now that's interesting. That old loyal dog of grandpa requested something and that too from him. Uncle Kim had been in the company ever since his grandpa took over and was a well relied trusted personality in the Xavier family.

Making a quick decision to quench his curiosity he ordered,

"Fine. Send him in."

Two minutes later Alaric heard the knock and looked up to see a young boy maybe around 13-14 years old enter the room. What shocked him wasn't his age but...

Fucking hell... The boy looked exactly like him!

He had the same freaking green emerald looking eyes as the Xaviers. Emerald colored eyes were a unique feature of their family for centuries. But that was not all, his facial features were 50-60% similar to his! Only difference was his face looked a little gentle, having a peaceful aura while Alaric tended to look more sharp and fierce with menacing aura. The most attracting was those bright eyes of his shining brightly as if hiding great mischief underneath them. While his gentle smile created dimples giving a warm and welcoming look, making you feel like being basked in the warm sunlight.

"Hello Mr. Xavier, pleased to meet you. I'm Asher."

After calming his initial surprise Alaric started wondering if this young fella was scheming to become an heir of his family. Hey was this one of those typical cliché parts where a sudden bastard comes to demand his share in rich households?

But wait a minute, that can't be right. Even if this boy was his "supposed son", his child shouldn't be this big, right? C'mon he looks like he's already graduated from junior high or was at high school and probably a young adult! And Alaric was still in his prime age. His son couldn't be this big already.

How much of a scum would he be if he impregnated someone in his teens! Shit…. No way!

Then by chance did his dad cheat on mom? The boy looked so similar to him, could he be an illegitimate son of his dad? Then that would make him his half-brother.

While Alaric was having his suspicious inner thoughts, the young fella in front of him waited patiently with his warm smile. Without interrupting him or saying anything. Just waiting, looking at him. Alaric cleared his voice and said with an intimidating aura,

"Well Asher, please state your purpose for the sudden appointment. As you can see I'm a busy man, I don't have time for any nonsense."

Instead of being intimidated his smile got brighter, "Thank you for sparing your time Mr. Xavier, I have always been interested in meeting you, you are my business idol."

His eyes got sparkly saying, "Old Gramps Kim is my neighbor, I made a bet with him that if I won he had to help me meet my long anticipated idol." Then he said grinning, "So as you can see right in front of you, I won and he had to fulfill his promise."

Huh..... That's all he had to say? Just a business idol? No other purposes?

Was he kidding with him? Did he expect him to believe that? Saying he went through all the troubles just for this? Did the young fella take him for a fool?

Very well, young man. If that's how you want to play, bring it on.

_

Surprisingly Alaric did have a pleasant time with the boy named Asher. Initially, he wanted to scare him away. But as he interacted with the young boy, he got amazed by his knowledge and interpersonal skills. They talked about from business to international market, sports, literature. What amazed Alaric was that Asher could actually keep up with his pace. Not only had he done that, but also did it quite excellently.

How could a young boy have such an active mind! He never failed to surprise Alaric with every topic he threw at him. He tried to throw Asher off guard by talking about topics which were vastly different and sometimes contradictory to the previous topic. But even so he was able to keep up.

Alaric had a game of chess with Asher which he found quite challenging though he wouldn't admit it. After a long time Alaric felt his blood pumping with thrill and excitement. He got a little carried away and played for a long time. Thus, unintentionally Alaric ended up enjoying his time with Asher. Almost three hours had passed since Asher came to his office.

"Thank you for your time Mr. Xavier. If we ever have the chance to meet again, next time I won't lose the chess match." said Asher with a bright smile.

But Alaric could see the determination to win in his eyes. He hates to lose, doesn't he? hehe, he was the same too.

"I won't lose either" Alaric replied to him

"We will see. Good-bye."

Asher left after bidding farewell.

Alaric shifted his gaze and looked at the full wall window glass, gazing at the sky.

He's an interesting boy.

Even if that boy named Asher wanted to challenge him again, he felt he won't be reluctant. Maybe somewhere in his heart, he was looking little forward to it. Was it due to being connected by blood? Maybe it won't be bad having a half-brother in the family to hang out together and share his burden with him.
