119 Chapter 114 : Vulture

"How do you think your buddy Stark paid for that tower? Or any of his little toys? Those people, Pete, those people up there, the rich and the powerful, they do whatever they want. Guys like us, like you and me, they don't care about us. We build their roads and we fight all their wars and everything, but they don't care about us. We have to pick up after 'em. We have to eat their table scraps. That's how it is. I know you know what I'm talking about, Peter."

―Vulture to Spider-Man

Waking up, Peter Parker, also known as Spiderman, started his day by making a phone call to his girlfriend, Gwen Stacy. He fabricated a story about working late the previous night to ease her worries. After a farewell breakfast with Aunt May, Little Spider, prepared for his day.

"Remember to bring an umbrella, Peter; I think it will rain outside," Aunt May reminded him through the window. Little Spider, seeing the gloomy sky, grabbed an umbrella from the storage bucket.

"I'm leaving, Aunt; you're at home alone; pay attention to safety; don't work like the other day; I was almost worried to death."

"Don't worry, it was just an accident, and I wasn't injured. Work hard, Peter; Mr. Herbert is a good man."

"I see, Aunt."

Dressed neatly, Little Spider was about to leave when the TV screen suddenly switched on. A reporter delivered breaking news about the Vulture, a supervillain who had kidnapped a man and taken him to the top of the Herder Building.

"It is said that this man is a former colleague of Vulture, who mocked him many times. The vulture escaped from prison for revenge, demanding the presence of the man's wife and children. Presumably, he intends to throw the man in front of his family to die."

Little Spider frowned, realizing the Vulture had escaped from prison. Anxious to confront this threat, he decided to swing into action. Aunt May, understanding the urgency, encouraged him to go, and even Gwen Stacy, upon calling, supported his decision.

Pulling off his jacket to reveal the spider suit, Little Spider swung away, leaving Aunt May's home.

At the top of the Herder Building, the Vulture, Adrian Toomes, confronted his hostage, a frightened man pleading for mercy. The Vulture's real target, however, was the Spiderman, whom he expected to arrive and attempt a rescue.

As Little Spider approached the scene, he took a moment to call Mr. Herbert (Jude) to ask for leave due to the unexpected situation. Mr. Herbert assured him that he would handle the issue, promising to re-incarcerate the Vulture within an hour.

In the underground laboratory of Haytham Technology Company, Mr. Herbert hung up the phone and, puzzled by the dead waiter, tried to contact Ivy. Her phone was off and calls to the Daily Bugle office and Ivy's secretary went unanswered.

Growing suspicious, Mr. Herbert decided to leave the underground laboratory to investigate the news department in person, leaving behind Deadpool with a promise of compensation if the issue was resolved within a day.

Upon returning to the ground, Mr. Herbert found a group of military personnel led by Captain America (Steve Rogers) waiting for him. Dismissing the incompetent supervisor, Mr. Herbert confronted the military intrusion, questioning their actions and the apparent disregard for his privacy.

The military demanded Mr. Herbert's advanced armor technology, offering substantial payment. Mr. Herbert, surprised by Captain America's aggressive approach, fired back with sarcasm. The military accused him of numerous crimes without presenting evidence, labeling him a heinous criminal. Jude, challenging their claims, demanded proof of his alleged misdeeds.

As tensions escalated, the military, considering him a high-tech criminal, insisted on arresting him immediately, highlighting their unique approach to dealing with individuals like him. In response, Jude sarcastically applauded their commitment to justice and questioned their lack of evidence.

The military ordered his immediate arrest, leaving the situation hanging in the balance. Jude continued to demand evidence for the serious charges leveled against him, particularly questioning the absurd accusation of rape. The outcome of this confrontation remained uncertain.
