The final battle - 1

Ali lay on the ground, his form covered in blood and injuries that made it harder for him to move even a muscle. The bodies of more than a dozen masked men were lying around him, with their limbs severed or slashed. Even though this group of people were just human, the fact that they always charged forward like crazed maniacs without any care for their life, made this fight the toughest he fought till now.

I mean at one point when they were almost killed, these people started trading blows with him. Getting hit themselves in return for getting a hit in.

Ali's senses were coming back to him and the feeling of pain and blood loss was taking a toll on his mind. It was so bad that he had to keep hurting himself even more just so he doesn't fall unconscious there now.

He turned his face to the side where he saw a horde of infected zombies coming towards him. This would be the second wave he would have to deal with.

The smell of blood spread in the air and the loud music still echoing around, was constantly attracting more zombies towards his direction. Every part of his body was screaming at him to just lay there, to just close his eyes and relax, to just freaking die and stop forcing his limits already - yet even in all this, his eyes still had that determined look as he turned his gaze at the place where the man he wanted to kill was living.

(Well not technically his eyes, as one of them was now covered in blood, completely red. And he couldn't see anything from that anymore. But what's the point of going into something Ali considers just another injury at this point.)

He turned his face straight and looked at the sky upwards. The clear weather was gone and some dark clouds floated high above. The smell of rain that was about to come was mingling in the air, giving a final refreshing feeling to his tired soul.

"Are you there, God? Can you see it? I didn't give up, so just freaking hold back your sickle of death?" He said in his heart, as in his cloudy vision, the clouds above took the form of a man in black with a scythe in hand.

"Just one last push, body. And then we can wrap it up and get our rest." Ali said to himself, as he forced himself to stand up.

His steps were slow and steady as he started moving towards the building of sky ultima. His feet, leaving lines of bloody marks behind him. The zombies who were munching on the bodies of those masked men noticed his movement and started following him. Their faces filled with blood were like a hungry lion following a prey it wanted to hunt.

Ali reached the building and he found no one there to stop him or fight him. So he forced his tired body to walk towards the stairs after he closed the doors behind him.

From outside he saw Kevin and Aarvi standing by the window of the third floor and that's where he was going.

Ali wasn't sure how long it took him to reach there, how many times he sat on those stairs or fell down again, yet his struggle bore fruits as he looked at the sign of the third floor in front of him.

He pushed the door with his hands, almost falling down since it was opened easily.

"Ali, Ali, Ali - you really don't want to die. Do you?"

Kevin's words echoed in his ears giving his disoriented mind a shock of anger that brought back a little clarity to him.

"How much more do you want to struggle before you die? Do you know how much I've spent on trying to kill you now?" Kevin said as he grabbed Ali's collar and punched him in the face. His hands felt the sting after it ended up hitting a chunk of bone that was sticking out near his chin.

Looking at Ali's face closely again, Kevin made a disgusted expression and just pushed Ali to a wall. Smiling as he saw his body sliding down.

"You know I've been waiting, watching, as you fought out there.

And I really think your death would be a waste. If you weren't bitten, I would have kept you around as my puppet. You could have been such a useful tool." Kevin said, remembering the people he turned into mindless slaves, who felt nothing, but the need to follow his order.

"Well, can't do anything about it now, I can just kill you with my own hands." Kevin said in a regretful tone, as he picked the dagger Ali dropped on the floor. "But before I do that, you should know, after killing you I plan to go to your city and kill everyone who is connected to you. Your friends, family, little fangirls, everyone. All of them will die and pay for your crimes."

"P_pock_"

"Huh, did you say something?" Kevin said as he heard Ali mumbling something.

"Pockets check _" Ali whispered with great difficulty.

Kevin looked at where Ali was pointing at, and pulled his suit's corner with the dagger. While looking at Ali's face, so he doesn't pull anything with his bitten mouth.

Yet Ali did nothing and let Kevin check what he had inside. There was a mocking expression as he looked at Kevin.

Kevin grabbed whatever he found in the suit's pocket and pulled it out. Opening his fists, he saw a simple metal locket and a silver ring.

"I found yours first." Ali whispered to Kevin, as he noticed the angry expression on his face once he recognized who those items belonged to.

"Where is he?" Kevin grabbed Ali's collar, and banged his back against the wall. "Where is my brother?"

-hahaha ahhaa-

"What did you do, you bastard? Tell me." Kevin shouted furiously as he heard Ali's laughter.

"He was begging, pleading for mercy, (chuckles) asking what was his fault, calling your name (grins) before I turned him into a zombie." Ali said, as his body started going numb again, and the strain on his mind and senses started lessening.

"WHERE IS HE?" Kevin shouted as he banged Ali's head to the wall again. He didn't care if his brother was a zombie. He has a system now, and he had seen dozens of zombie virus curing potions. He could still heal him and turn him into a normal human again.

Yet his hopes that he raised got crushed again, as Ali's next words hit his heart.

"In hell, waiting for you." Ali said, as he slapped Kevin's hand away and banged his head against Kevin's forehead, knocking him back. Caught off guard, while he was angry, Kevin failed to notice the change in Ali's expression and eyes. They were empty now, the pain in them gone completely. And focus returned to his mind.

"Since I couldn't find you, I killed him." Ali said, pinning Kevin below him and punching his face. "I ripped out his heart, and shoved it down his throat." (Punches his neck) "Watching as his zombie body started munching on it, before he completely died."

Kevin clenched the dagger in his hands and moved it towards Ali, but Ali pushed his hand in between, stopping the knife.

Even though the dagger made a big hole from the back of his hand, but Ali didn't feel a thing. He just smiled and used his other hand to turn the dagger around and forced it down towards Kevin's chest.

"Go, join him in hell."

He said, pushing the dagger with all his strength against Kevin's struggles. Hoping to end this bastard's life once and for all, yet before he could plunge the dagger down Kevin's heart, someone grabbed his shoulders and pulled his hands.

Caught off guard, Ali's mark missed. And the surprise gave Kevin enough chance to push Ali away from his body and stand up.

-kick kick

He gave two powerful kicks in the guts to Ali, calming his anger and emotions over his brother's death and nearly dying himself.

"I'll give you the most painful death. You'll pay. You'll pay for everything." Kevin muttered in between his rushed breathing, as he held the locket and ring in his hands. "Dead, your whole family's dead."

Kevin kept threatening him, yet Ali's focus wasn't on him anymore. His eyes were looking at the girl, who appeared behind him, and dragged him.

Aarvi was standing there with a tear stained face and emotionless expression. "I'm sorry," She whispered.

A part of his brain always worked to find excuses for her. Saying that maybe she had a reason, an explanation, a side he didn't know - after all, decades of love really was hard to forget.

Yet at this moment even that thinking was gone.

Seeing her still siding with Kevin, even after everything, even after he was in that situation, even after Kevin threatened to kill his whole family in front of her, yet she still chose to save him.

The heartbreak didn't hurt him anymore. He didn't cry this time. Not a single tear, or expression of sadness moved in his eyes. He just looked at her, and smiled.

Not at her, not for her, but at himself - at all that he did for her, and all that he was willing to do.

"What a waste" That's all he managed to say before Kevin pulled the dagger out from his hand and stabbed it in his back.
