The Rightful One
After a long deliberation, Sir Charles announces to the public the decision of the royal court.
"People of Andorre, as part of the custom of our forefathers from generations to generations we hereby announce the successor of the crown, the one who will seat in the throne, the one who will lead his people in all honesty and integrity none other than the King's only son Prince Edward who will be called King Edward from now on."
The crowd cheers as the Chief Advisor of the King announces the name of the new head of the Andorre Monarchy.
"The coronation will take place three days from now, in order to prepare His Majesty for all the duties that he will be doing from now on" Sir Charles added.
This is the first time that a 16 year old prince will be crown King, though some of the nobles opposed the idea, it was decided by the way of voting. Despite in such a young age, the now King Edward excels in his skill in speaking like an eloquent scholar and a sharp minds when it comes to decision making like a skilled General hence those are only a few major factor why they voted for him to be crowned King at such a young age.
"Your Majesty this way, i apologise but as King you are needed in the war council" Sir Charles said.
"I understand, lead the way" the King responded
The King enters the war council meeting together with Sir Charles, and the murmuring of the officers and the royal court has stop and everyone sits on their respective chair.
"My lords" greet by the King
"Your Majesty, i believe you're already aware of the situation" said by Sir Randall of House Woodford the marshall of the royal court
"I do, all of it" the King responded
"A force of 30,000 men is in the plains of huns right now Your Majesty lead by the Duke of Brunswick is to set an ambush & intercept your uncle, while the Langford situation is still idle, there's no movement from the prusian army" said by Sir Benedict the commander of the King's Guard
"I believe they will be joining forces at Langford and will attack the Hamstring fort in the front and behind at the same time and if that happens and Hamstring fort fall, they will be controlling all the passage north of Langford and they can freely transport troops and supply without us knowing" said by Lord William of House Lemarc the Duke of Langford province.
"And i am saying this because i know langford very well Your Majesty" added by the duke
"What's the situation of the troops in Hamstring fort?" Ask by the King
"Hamstring fort is defended by the garrison force of 6,000 men plus 35,000 from the duke of burgenda 15,000 from the duke of east harbor and 90,000 from the Langford troops in total of 146,000 troops Your Majesty led by Commander Jarin" as Sir Charles read the report.
"I'll trust the skill of the commanders in charge of the defense, for now let's keep it that way, we cannot wait for the prusian to make a move, we cannot let them dictate the battle of the minds, we need to make move and see how will they react" said by the King
"What should we do Your Majesty?" Ask confusingly by the Duke of Langford.
"They will suffer attrition if we prolong this, so
send an envoy to my uncle, ask him about his demands and also inform him about the ambush that is waiting for him"
The King firmly order the royal court and the nobles to do so.
With Sir Charles writting the whole meeting there are murmuring inside the war council between the nobles some are shock, some are confused.
"Your Majesty, but why? I mean sending an envoy is reasonable but giving away our plan just like that? The men of Duke Barrington is outnumbered, the surprise attack is the only edge they have in the battle why reveal it out? Ask by Sir Randall
"I want to add fear in my uncle, knowing that someone is waiting for him but doesn't know when and where, and if he's smart enough he will not think that he outnumbered our troops, by revealing our plan means that we are confident in that plan, and he will think that we outnumbered and surrounded him instead" the King said.
The war council ended in a quiet way, the King leaves the room and the royal court is still puzzled by the answer they got from their King.
The next morning at milton
Rhaena, Colton and Robert meet up with Captain Devon in the courtyard behind the castle, the three of them arrived ahead of the Captain, when the captain arrive he introduced them to one of his subordinate.
"This is Captain Cedric, he is the captain of the patrol group" Captain Devon said.
"Captain these three young man wants to protect our villager that's why they volunteer themselves on the job, so i want you to teach them the basic so they can protect themselves and the villagers as well" he added
"Leave it to me" Captain Cedric answered.
They started practicing first the form in holding a sword and how to swing it properly, it's not an easy task due to the weight of the sword because holding a sword for a long time requires a lot of strength which definitely they don't have, Captain Cedric spend the whole day training the young lads, he did test their physical strenght and stamina and they did some sparring with some of the soldiers and fortunately they manage to inflict damage to them though the soldiers did better than them to be expected.
After a long day of training, Captain Cedric dismissed the trio and after the training they just lay down in the grass in the courtyard while taking a rest as the captain take his leave, catching their breath the trio decided to have a sparring between them, they spend the night training by themselves until their body cannot take it anymore.
Captain Cedric reported back to Captain Devon about the training of the new volunteer and Captain Cedric mentioned what he thinks of the young lads, he saw an exceptional talent in Rhaenal not just in sword fighting but also in quick decision making, Colton has potential in fighting though he hesitates sometimes but most of the times he did well, Robert caught my attention he has strong arms and he didn't panic when he is pressured.
Captain Devon thanked the Patrol Unit Captain for what he done today and dismissed him to prepare for tomorrow.
Back at the courtyard.
"Ahh, i'm so tired" said by Colton
All of them are catching their breath like a tirer horse..
"Do you think we can do it?" Robert ask
"We're already doing it" Colton answered
"What i mean is, do it properly?, what if we encounter some bandit tomorrow while patrolling?" Robert added
Captain Cedric told them to join the groups patrolling the enzo village north of milton near the charcoal mine for tomorrow, he told them to look for a man name Leo, he is the squad leader patrolling that area, it is the safest place to patrol that's why the captain will dispatch the lads there as beginners.
"That's why we had this training, to prepare us, though it's not enough atleast we know the basic" Rhaenal added
"We need to rest for tomorrow, let's just meet at the gate house" colton said
Captain Devon also tells the trio to stop by the gate house to get their equipment and uniform for tomorrow.
They went their seperate ways to go home, Rhaenal is staying alone after the attack since his father is with Lord Jerald, He just grab a bread and some fruits and went to the bed to take his rest.
Next morning at Duke Barrington's camp
"Men arriving! Men arriving! Sound the alarm" said by the lookout at the entrance of the fortification camp
A total of 20,000 troops are coming through the forest from the hunai passage, it is Duke Hansel of Briton with his men, they enter the camp and Duke Hansel together with his selected retinue go to meet Duke Barrington and the others.
"My lord," greet by Duke Barrington with a smile on his face
"My old friend" responded by Duke Hansel
They hugged each other before going inside the war tent, inside the tent they seated and started planning about the ambush.
"Before we start, this is General Obu and Captain Eso" said by Duke Hansel
They greet each other and continue with the planning, Duke Barrington received a message early in the morning about the new King's plan with Prince Henry's forces.
"Why did he want to reveal our ambush? And why the court let the Prince to take the role at an early age? Shouldn't there be a regeant for it?" question by Duke Hansel with confusion all over his face
"We don't know why the King do that and about them letting him taking the crown i am sure there's a reasonable answer for that knowing the royal court" answered by Duke Barrington
"But according to the message, we should still continue to play as if the enemy doesn't know our plan" he added
The position will be like this, General Obu together with 5,000 cavalry will take position in the forest behind the enemy lines, we will wait until they pass the Hexham crossing and General Arkistan and Count jerald will lead the front line infantry and act as bait here in this open area here. Duke Hansel will take position here in the hill with archers and some infantry to protect the range unit. The others wait as a reserved and reinforcement.
General Obu your target is their range unit, you wait until they're frontline is engage in a melee before charging, and if in any case i can lead some cavalry as well to loop around the corner and help with cleaning their range units, General Arkistan and Count jerald just hold the line, after their range unit we will charge from the rear of their infantry
Our main card is the mobility of our cavalry in the field and though outnumbered the strength of our men is not a joke as long as they hold the line we can win.
"Anyone has something to say about the battleplan?" Ask by Duke Barrington
"Do you have have any back up plan in case the enemy scout out our cavalry from the forest? Or something bad happen?" Ask by Duke Hansel
"We don't, that's why we need to send scouts ahead of time to secure the position and keep yourself open for any strategical idea during the battle you have my permission to do adjustments according to what you see is fit in the battle" answer by Duke Barrington
"A very risky deployment indeed!" Said by General Obu
"I will entrust my troops to you Lord Barrington though i will take my two counts with me on the hill with their retinue" said by Duke Hansel
"By the way my lord, how can we be sure they will not change their course?" Ask by Count Jerald
"According to the report and their course of action they will take the King's road from goldea to Yorkenshire province and go to Langford to meet up with the prusian army and take the hamstring fort so that they can resupply easily if they manage to take the fort" said by Duke Barrington
"Any question?" He added
"If there's none, be prepared and send out scouts to secure the area"
And they started dispersing one by one and getting ready to take position.
At Prince Henry's camp inside hastings forest a couple of miles to hexham crossing.
"My lord, an envoy from the King himself is here" said by one of the guard
The prince is inside his tent sleeping but when he heard that the King sends an envoy he immediately stands up and meet the envoy.
"My lord my name is Albert i am send by the King himself" said by the envoy.
"So who's the King you're working for?" The Prince ask
"King Edward my lord, he sends me to ...."
The envoy didn't finish his sentence when Prince Henry stops him.
"So it's my nephew, i guess my brother really passed away how sad, i am actually here to visit and see him before his illness took over him, but *sigh*.... what a waste" said by the Prince with a disappointed look.
The King sends Albert one of the top scholar at Wiltshire as an envoy to Prince Henry to discuss the reason of him marching a large number of hostile troops in the countryside and also about his connection with the prussian
