Chapter 19: Magic

In the the right pocket of the uniform was a small pocket containing a note that once I read it, I started to laugh.

"Shamballa" which is also the WiFi password as shown in the movie when Strange got trolled.

On the backside was a different note that told me to head to the library and the directions to where it was.

After a few minutes of walking, I reached the library and it truly looked just like the movies.

It was slightly dusty but it had this ancient feel that permeated through it halls.

I walked up to Mr. Moore and I talked to him about the next level of books.

I of course didn't tell him that I finished all the books that were given to me in one day, but I just told him that I was trying to have them with me, so in case I get an rare chance of enlightenment and I don't have to go outside to get them.

Then after a few minutes of pleasantries, I went back to my room and again magically there was piece of paper containing the different classes offered here.

So here I am the next day sitting in an ancient classroom listening with actual interest.

Also The doctor strange movie was absolute BS.

In the movie only the cool parts such as creating the portals, having combat classes with the stickler AKA Mordo was shown.

In reality, however there was actually barely any action.

Did you know that sorcery or magic has its own language and there are hundred thousands of different symbols with billions of combinations.

The so called magic affinity is just the ability to be familiar with the different symbols and to weave them to together to make a complex magical shape that alters reality.

There is also even a hierarchy here, but you don't need any connections here; you just need to have the ability.

The lowest level is Novice, they spend most of their time in the library. They study tomes and scrolls and even perform magic found in them, but he cannot truly cast magic on his own as most; if not all of them can't cast spells without reading the scrolls while casting the spell.

Their occult knowledge is basically nonexistent, they have no special powers. They sometimes have a low-level Connection to a higher-Ranked mentor. They don't have any magic Background, sorcery, or connections to any entities.

The next rank above is a disciple. An disciple assists his master in some of his rituals and is spending more time adventuring than a novice. He may learn new spells from his master's written works.

Their occult knowledge consists of minor ritual casting and creating very basic magical weapons of energy . The requirement is to have at least 2 Magic spells memorized and able to create a weapon of magical energy for at least 15 seconds. They usually have a Low-level connection to a higher-Ranked Mentor.

They still don't have access to an dimensional energy.

The middle of the hierarchy are the Adepts.

An Adept spends more time adventuring than he spends with his master, though he is still at his master's beck and call.

They have learned all the Master has to offer except for the spells that are the Master's legacy and his personal spells.

You need intermediate mastery in 3 languages, cast up to 8 spells and have them memorized, also capable of astral projection to become a adept. They also have a intermediate intimacy to a higher-Ranked Mentor. They now begin to be recognized by the magical community and also are able to contract with up to 2 low-level dimensional entities for power.

At this point, you finally at the upper level of the magical society. A Master spends very little time with his mentor as they are now the same rank and there is not much left to learn except for some special masters. Most if not all time is spent studying or adventuring in the world of the magical. If they qualify then they can even take up a student.

The requirements of becoming a master is very strict as all masters in Kamar-taj have a very important role, some are even masters of the three sanctums. You have to have mastery of 4 languages, know how to fight using magical weapons made of energy, at minimum 12 spells with battling proficiency and know 15 rituals. These are just the baseline requirements as they need a lot knowledge of the mystical, able to diagnose most problems of magical origins.

They are also well-known figures of the magical world and have had many different adventure. They can have up to 5 high-level connections with the suitable entities and using that connection they can level an entire village of a hundred people.

Finally at the very top of the pyramid is the sorcerer supreme. The strongest master in the world or dimension of his natural existence is called the Sorcerer (or Sorceress) supreme. The current Sorcerer Supreme is the ancient one, a Sorcerer Supreme has the greatest amount of mystical knowledge in their dimension and spends all their time guarding their dimension, teaching any students they may have, and studying mystical lore.

Sorcerer supremes are known more for their feats than how powerful they are. Their power is measured by the amount of times the protected earth and who they protected it from. Like even though in the movie strange could barely create a weapon of energy, he still protected earth from dormammu.

The Sorcerer supreme usually has the highest level of occult knowledge than all practitioners in his dimension. They know hundreds of rituals and thousands of spells. They are basically walking armies that on one wishes to anger.

All Sorcerer supreme's well respected in the magical world. Anyone who has a brain will try to get on the good side of Sorcerer supreme's, their word in the magical world is equivalent to basically a law personally passed by Queen Elizabeth.

They also can draw energy for any dimension and have as much connections as they want as long as two contracts don't conflict.

One limitation is that each move they make is immensely scrutinized and so they have to be very careful when taking a certain action that affects the magical world. Also apparently there have been Sorcerer supremes in other schools than Kamar-taj. There can only be one person in the position and it's impossible for Kamar-taj to keep a monopoly of the position; it's just that each school dedicates itself to different threats.

The instructor explained and I leaned back in my chair. The different robes worn in the movie represented the different ranks.

Strange was most likely a disciple when he battle Kaecillius in the sanctums and an adept when he faced Dormmamu. How did he grow so fast in the span of 2 days is something I will never understand.

However there was one question bothering me.

"Mr. Bendu, what threats do the other schools manage and why are there barely any Sorcerer Supreme's from other schools ?" I asked him

" Good question, Apprentice Hunt; is there anyone that knows the answer to this question.?" He asked as he looked over the other apprentices that were giving uneasy glances to each other

After waiting for a few seconds, Mr. Bendu answered the question.

"The chi schools protect the Seven Capitals of Heaven, they guard the gates of each city and the protector of each city is given a special title. Example: Iron Fist: Protector of Kunlun

Most if not all Universal schools are not on earth. They protect earth from the creatures of nine realms. Their job is to make sure that no creature of the nine realms wander off into different realms. Example: Asgard

The dimensional school protect earth from threats from different dimensions. So while there have been Sorcerer supremes from other schools, they are in the extreme minority. As you all know that the sorcerer supreme has to be human and protect the time stone from all sorts of dangerous enemies. The chi schools are obsessed over their secrecy and protecting themselves and the universal schools are more protectors of the nine realms. We are the best dimensional school on earth, so that's why majority Sorcerer Supremes are from Kamar-raj." He explained to the class with a bit of pride at the last part.

He glanced at the clock and said " Looks like Class is over Apprentice's, I want a full parchment explaining the different ranks and the requirements to be promoted. Also as many of you already know, 2 months later; you will be selected to be students of a master. The assessment will be more theoretical than physical; though you shouldn't neglect you weapon conjuration and so I expect you all to know the names of the 72 demons of the he'll dimension to their 72 angel counterparts."

I took my books back to my room and just started meditating as I already memorized all the theoretical books I needed to ace the exam.

I interlaced my hands together and called upon my solar energy reserves.

As I separated my hands hundreds of tiny fiery orange sparks lines followed.

They twisted around each other at first making a pole and then I called upon even more energy and the rope started to turn into something else.

It started to compress flatly at the top and created what looked like sharp edges and this process went on for 5 whole minutes.

At the end, in my hand lied a spear that made from solid orange sparks

It started to magically float my in the air and I went to creating a different weapon.

By the time, I was done 6 different weapons lied in front of me each floating in a circular format.

( Bit of a short chapter, sorry guys; family problem. Anyways this is going to be our 2nd poll.

I need everyone to choose a total of 5 weapons for the mc.

The spear is my choice and the rest of the five are yours. So please make sure to recommend some weapons, also please make sure that they are cold weapons like swords,spears,bow and arrows, axes, hammers.
