Twin espers

Jasmine took Loki home to heal her injured twin brother. The house was rundown and old. Most floorboards were already falling apart, and some doors were already broken. He realised the girl could have used those mana gems to buy a better house. However, she was saving them for someone who would heal her brother.

After Loki and Jasmine entered the house, Jasmine yelled. "Yo asshole, I'm home!" then she shut the door behind her.

A second later, a very angry-looking man walked into the room. "Where the fuck have you been?!"

"Language!" Jasmine scolded him.

Loki raised his brows and looked at the girl thinking, "Didn't you just call him an asshole?"

"Whatever," He scoffed, annoyed. "Who is he?" He pointed the finger at silent Loki.

Loki stood silent for a few minutes, waiting for the girl to introduce him. However, she just pouted like a child while staring at her brother.

After five minutes of silence, he clicked his tongue and, in annoyance, "Tsk." and then introduced himself. "My name is Loki, and I am here to heal her brother."

"OH?! I am sorry for my rudeness. You may call me Sam." the tall raven-haired pale boy said and put out his hand. "And I'm her twin brother."

The young raven-haired boy shook hands with Loki. After that, Sam turned his attention back to his sister. "Jasmine, we can't afford a healer. You should have bought yourself a house or an apartment instead!"

Jasmine folded her arms in front of her chest and narrowed her eyes menacingly. "Shut up! It's my money, my gems. I will spend them however I want."

Sam rolled his eyes but didn't say anything about the issue and stared at Jasmine silently.

"You two are so fucking annoying!" Loki interrupted their glaring contest. "Let's start so I can go home!"

Loki was annoyed and no longer cared about his image in the gang's eyes. He just wanted to get this over with and heal that guy as soon as possible.

"Jasmine, could you please leave?" Loki asked.

"Okay." Jasmine shyly replied and turned away to leave the house. But then, she turned back and asked again. "You sure you don't want to get paid? Gems are huge money."

"I am sure," Loki answered and activated his eyes of chaos.

He manipulated golden mana snowflakes and began healing Sam but realised Sam was poisoned. So instead of managing healing mana, he removed purple mana, which represented poison, from Sam's body. After that, he used healing to remove the leftover side effects. Sam's skin soon regained a healthy colour.

"You didn't even ask what's wrong with me..." Sam spoke, amazed, staring at Loki. "You just healed me immediately without knowing what disease I had."

"You were poisoned," Loki explained. "I removed the poison, and there won't be any remaining side effects."

The raven-haired teenager blinked at Loki several times before nodding his head slowly, still looking awestruck. Then he smiled.

"Thank you," he said and bowed at Loki in gratitude. "I thought this was curse magic, but I guess it was just poison."

"Well, most poisons are as dangerous or even more dangerous than curses." Loki shrugged his shoulders. "Curse magic is tough to control, so very few people use it."

"I am grateful!" Sam smiled brightly at him. Then he turned serious and lowered his gaze to the ground. "But you're not a sorcerer, right?"

"I am an esper." Loki tilted his head to one side and asked, "By the way, how you got poisoned?"

Sam rubbed his hands nervously together as he tried to explain.

"I used to be a number one fighter in my college, and I was supposed to enter a tournament."

"Interesting. So you got injured in the tournament?" Loki asked

"Well, no. A few days before the tournament, I went on a date with this girl.… Mary Simmons." Sam frowned when he said her name. "She was a witch whose boyfriend was also participating in the tournament. She poisoned me and the next day humiliated me in front of the whole college."

"That sounds rough," Loki murmured sympathetically. "What a bitch!"

Loki knew this backstory. In the novel, Sam was probably the strongest antagonist the protagonist had ever faced. This was good news. If this was the same guy, his ability should be electrokinesis and body enhancement.

"Yeah…" Sam sighed. "I got many injuries during the first match because I could not activate my skill."

"What kind of skill do you have?" Loki inquired. "Could you show me?"

"Yeah, I can control electricity!" Sam enthusiastically responded. "Wanna see?"

Loki nodded.

Sam stepped back so he wouldn't accidentally hurt Loki. Then he raised his palm upwards and made a lightning bolt appear above it. He then pressed his index and middle fingers together and released the power. The bolts hit the house's ceiling and exploded, sending the wooden beams crashing to the ground.

When Jasmine heard the loud noise, she rushed back to the house. She gaped when they saw Sam standing in the center of the destruction.

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" Jasmine shouted. "YOU DESTROYED THE WHOLE HOUSE!"

"Yes, so tonight we go and sleep in the hotel," Sam said while shrugging. "And tomorrow, I will get money from adventurer's guild."

"You're so annoying!" Jasmine yelled in frustration.

But before she could start cursing at Sam, Loki asked a question. "Jasmine, Sam? What are your ranks? I mean your abilities."

"I am B ranked. I can create illusions, read minds and use telekinesis." Jasmine told Loki. "And Sammy is S ranked. He has very powerful electrokinesis ability. It even allows him to fly and enhances his body's capabilities with super strength and super speed."

"Sounds great!" Loki commented cheerfully. He looked at Jasmine with a smile on his face. "As I said, no need to pay me." he winked at her, making a slight blush appear on her cheeks.

Before Jasmine could answer, Sam cut her off, saying, "Loki, if you don't want money... What do you want?"

"Now, why would you assume I want something?" Loki chuckled. "I simply think it would be great if I could work with both of you."

"Work with us? What do you mean?" Jasmine wondered.

"Your skills would be great for taking over the city," Loki stated. "I decided to search for trustworthy people. You would be the first ones on my team."

Jasmine's expression dropped, causing Loki to notice that she was upset. He quickly added, "Of course, you can decline. I won't hold it against you." He gave Jasmine and Sam one last reassuring smile. "I told you, this heal will be on the house. Anyways, I am going home. Bye."

Sam and Jasmine stared in awe at Loki, who started to walk away. Sam put his hand on Jasmine's shoulder and said. "We owe him."

She nodded and chased after Loki. When she caught up, she grabbed his hand and asked. "What do we have to do?"
