Vernox's power: Dethroning Damien

The light died down only to reveal a man with golden hair and red eyes. He had a good muscular build which added to his handsomeness.

He had two yellow wings that resembles that of the Phoenix. The man also had a tail... three of them actually and they looked like the three that the phoenix had but it's smaller since it's on a man.

The man opened his eyes and saw Damien holding his sword and walking towards him. Damien almost fell as he staggered and almost fell.

'I knew I should have ran away when I was about to be crowned demon king'

Damien has always been lazy and just liked to have fun. Being a demon Lord was too stressful for him. At first he thought that he would be like his father, fighting battles and keeping peace but...now he's on the throne no battles are coming.

"You think you can kill me demon"

The Phoenix's voice reverberated.

"I am a Phoenix. I can't die"

The man stretched out his hand as a sword appeared in his hand. The sword's hilt was like wings that were stretched out while the blade was golden. It was covered in flames as the man waved it around in a circular motion.

"Now die demon!"

The man appeared behind Damien in a blink of an eye and swung and swung the sword horizontally at Damien's neck. Damien eyes were wide open as he wasn't fast enough to defend himself.

'So this is how it's going to end. This is not the ending I imagined though. Sigh... too bad u can't see Vernox again. He was really funny, challenging me all the time, being serious, always training hehe'

He smiled as he accepted his fate and closed his eyes.

*Clank*

"Huh?"

Damien looked up and saw Vernox in his royal attire blocking the attack and he was somewhat happy that Vernox came.

"You think you can die now?. We haven't settled our score"

Vernox looked at Damien, both brothers smiled and nodded.

It has been two days since he left the forbidden forest with Minova and began their journey to the demon kingdom 'Azure'.

They passed their which they came from.

Unexpectedly, when they got to the demons territory they saw that the place was almost destroyed. Flames were raging everywhere in their forest and Vernox began riding at full speed towards the kingdom.

As they were riding there, Vernox saw and he stopped the horse and got down.

"Wait here, I'll be back"

"Okay"

Minova toot the reign of the horse from Vernox. He immediately started running towards Damien as Damien looked weak and was finding it hard to stand.

Damien seems to have been beaten up and is almost out of energy. Before he knew it, a winged man appeared behind Damien and swung a sword at his neck.

"What?...Shit"

He used his time stop skill and ran in front of Damien. He summoned his demon sword and cancelled the skill as he blocked the attack.

"We haven't settled our score" he said as he turned and looked at Damien.

"You dare ignore me demon"

The Phoenix eyes glowed a golden colour as it used a fire spell to blast Vernox backwards. Vernox was a little shaken by the impact but he quickly got up. Vernox used his power to look at the stats of the creature.

He summoned his demon sword that fell from his hand before and pointed it at the creature.

'Demon's wrath'

A dark aura surrounded Vernox and his sword as he felt a wave of energy flow through his body.

[All stats have been increased by 100%(except intelligence, it can only be increased externally)

He was a little bit stronger than the Phoenix now. He charged at the Phoenix and the Phoenix retaliated and charged at him too.

With a slight speed and strength difference Vernox seems to be pushing the Phoenix to the corner as they exchanged blows.

"How dare you, a lowly de...claaah"

Vernox punched him straight on the jaw.

"Ahhhhhhhhh"

The Phoenix shouted in rage as a yellow aura surrounded him.

"Now you die!"

He charged at Vernox with even greater speed than before. Vernox regained his composure as he used his time stop skill.

'I only have 15 seconds. I'll use it to deal as much damage'

With a swift movement he cut off the arms and wings of the Phoenix man and then stabbed the chest where the heart was with his sword.

"woo.."

Time played and as the Phoenix reached close to Vernox, his body parts separated and splattered around all over as he fell.

The man didn't freak out and instead... began laughing.

"Hahahahahaha...You still don't get it do you?. I'm a phoenix, I can't die" the man stood up like a zombie with only two of his legs.

Vernox gritted his teeth as he remembered that there was a myth about phoenixes that they can't be killed.

*Beep*

Vernox looked at the screen that appeared in front of him, he was a bit surprised...but it was the perfect timing and smiled as he has gotten an advantage.

[Curse of hell has been activated.

Target can't regenerate.

The curse is a talent of the sword. Those who have been scratched or injured will die or will be cursed with extreme bad luck that will lead to death (Cannot affect some beings). ]

After a few seconds of silence, Flare, the phoenix man noticed that he wasn't regenerating and looked at Vernox with anger.

Vernox had an extremely wide smile on his face as he stared at the Phoenix man.

"YOU!!!. What did you do to me....arhhh"

Flare started feeling pain in his cut off parts as he started bleeding severely. His blood was a weird black colour which Vernox have never seen before.

Damien was shocked to see how powerful his brother have become after one journey.

Damien acquired some fighting skill from his childhood. Most of his power came from the demon sword that increases his power everyday, even without doing anything his power will still increase. He got the demon sword from ascending the throne.

Vernox wielded his red sword as he walked to the Phoenix who was now crying as he hasn't felt pain before.

"Let me help you with the pain"

Vernox raised his sword and struck flare... killing him finally due to the curse of the sword not letting him to be reborn.

Vernox stood up straight, for some reason he doesn't feel fear in this world. He still doesn't understand why...but it felt good, fighting and killing...felt good.

Vernox looked at the red sword in his hand and smiled because he was able to get his hands on it. He has gotten a big advance in powers since he collected the sword.

He turned and looked at the body of the Phoenix man suspiciously as he didn't know where the soul crystal was.

"I'll just start from....oh"

He saw a white shiny stone inside the man's chest where he slashed. He grabbed it and it vanished as he teleported it to his dimension is to and immediately ran to Damien who passed out due to lack of energy.

*Clakata clakata....*

Minova rode the horse to where Vernox was as she saw that the battle was over. She was impressed by Vernox's strength as she imagined being like him one day.

"Thank you" he told her as he put the unconscious Damien on the horse.

His kind and humble nature was one of the reasons Minova liked him so much.

(Note: Minova is only a 17 years old human)

They rode back to the kingdom on their black horse, passing many planes and the forests.

Upon reaching the kingdom, it was as quiet as a graveyard. It seems that the kingdom has evacuated to the east gate area.

He already knew what to do as he walked to the castle with Beth and his brother on his shoulder.

Outside the Kingdom at the east gate, a crowd of demon people were inside the forest waiting for Grunt's orders. Earlier when Grunt left the demon Lord, he went to evacuate the kingdom in case the demon Lord isn't able to defeat the creature. The people all had hoped that the demon Lord will kill it as they have witnessed his strength before.

*Phoeeeeew*

A bright red fire ball flew upwards and exploded in the air. As everyone saw the light they erupted in cheers as they knew that they were safe. It was the signal that they have been waiting for. Grunt guided the people as they began entering the kingdom again.

Vernox went to the castle and sent a sign to show that it was safe now. It was a system that was normally used in the game as the demon kingdom Azure frequently got attacked.

After a while everyone settled down and relaxed and the kingdom was returning back to normal. Damien was taken to an infirmary to be treated while the demon generals dispersed.

Meanwhile, Minova was now living in the castle with Vernox as his right hand person. The demons thought that she was a demon too as she had dark energy within her.

On the top floor of the castle Vernox was I. the bathroom taking a bath. It's been two days since he rescued his brother and assumed the throne.

As his brother wasn't able to defeat a soul monarch and Vernox was, it was clear that Vernox is now stronger than him.

His brother left the kingdom to search for his next goal with his betrothed.

"I'm the demon Lord now. I've gotten the throne, my next goal should be the underworld since I was given a key as a reward from the system"

He said as a blue transparent screen appeared in his view.

[You have saved the demon kingdom 'Azure' from destruction.

He got out of the shower and dried himself up as he made his way to his room.

It's been such an exhausting day. Little did he know that he was about to have the time of his life.
