Beth's past(V): Shadow secret art

DLR - 29

She stared wide eyed at the contents of the box that had a weird aura around it. There was only a single object in it which left her stunned.

"The inheritance ball" she murmured.

This object is used to pass on knowledge, power, and techniques from earlier generations. It was extremely rare to see an inheritance ball except from powerful beings and even some creatures.

Knowing what to do, she grabbed the ball in her hands. It was quite heavier than what it looked like and weighed quite a lot.

She sat in a lotus position as she wanted to activate the ball. Readying herself, she released her soul energy around herself.

Black threads of miasma spread across the room and rotated around her in all directions.

She opened her eyes and they glowed a red light.

*Crash*

She broke the ball and black energy seemed to spread around and speed rapidly to disperse in all directions.

If that happens the technique will be lost for good. To be specific, it's like gas...when exposed they rapidly disperse in all directions.

As if she planned this, she closed her eyes as she focused.

The black miasma threads stopped the black energy from dispersing and compressed as the energy were went towards her body.

With absolute concentration, she started using her soul energy to pull the inheritance towards herself.

*In her subconscious*

Beth stared at a large red ball that was a floating in what looked like space. This was her core and the source of her soul energy.

Every solar has a core which can evolve, replenish and store soul energy in the body of a human.

The black miasma threads pulled the inheritance energy into her core as it swirled around her core like rings.

The energy formed a little vortex leading to her soul which absorbed the black energy which were inheritance fragments.

....

After a few minutes of absorbtion, she finally absorbed the whole inheritance into her soul.

*Boom*

A small ripple spread around, causing the dust around to be shifted backwards and rise.

A black dome covered her and small sparks of weird black lightning covered the dome.

As she opened her eyes, her head started aching like there were using pins to pierce her brain as a wave of information and ideas flowed into her mind, causing her to grasp her head with both hands as she gritted her teeth and endured the pain.

...

Five minutes passed before the pain started fading away and she felt relieved. Beth now had memories of techniques owned and created by her family.

"Shadow secret arts" she recalled the name that was in her mind.

She smiled as she walked out of the place, feeling happy to have gained something from coming here. It wasn't her instincts but it was just a feeling, after all... powerful families must have inherited techniques or treasures.

....

"I guess you found something" Vernox said as he saw her smiling as she came out of the place.

"Yes, yes I did" she smiled as she went to Vernox and hugged him.

"Umm...okay what's this for" Vernox asked as he hugged her back. Besides, why not.

"Nothing. I love you" she said as she looked up to his face.

Beth was shorter than Vernox as her head was reaching his jaw.

"You've said this so many times already..." he replied.

She didn't say anything again as she hugged him and enjoyed the comfort of his embrace. Vernox was quite naive of the feelings she had for him and only saw her as his closest friend and ally.

Even after so many years, the passion for revenge is burning within her.

She will never forgive the humans for taking her family away from her....never.

*15 years later*

*Neeeiiigghh*

A horse neighed as it rode pass a point. The horse seems to be pulling a carriage filled with creatures.

The driver wore simple clothing and emitted the aura of a human.

It was night time and the moon radiated it normal cool bright light. For the humans, it was a perfect touch as they didn't have to stress with illuminating the road that they travelled through, but for predators, it was perfect as they didn't have to look for their prey.

The humans normally followed this road since there were no monsters around this area and it was safe. But little did they know that something worse than a monster was lurking around here.

Inside a bush, within the shadows, a humanoid silhouette was standing and watching the carriage ride away.

It is a bit hard to notice this silhouette but a person can visibly see two red eyes that glowed in the darkness. The silhouette suddenly moved and chased the carriage.
