A clue

"Where am I supposed to start?"

This was the only question I had on my mind. Even the smallest idea could be helpful.

"Why didn't I think about this earlier? What's that one place with answers to every question? You guessed it, it's the internet."

I quickly ran to my pc, pressing the power button before sitting down.

"It's pretty much my only hope right now, so this better work."

As soon as I was able to press the internet icon, I started spamming it like crazy. I must have been way to enthusiastic about it, since I forgot that doing so only slows the pc down.

After what felt like an eternity, I could finally use the computer the normal way. I started typing, but right as I put my finger on the enter key, I felt like something inside of me had gotten scared all of a sudden.

"There's no way I'm stopping now."

Most of the results where just pages talking about conspiracies and how time travel isn't possible, but I felt that at least one of those pages had the answers I was looking for.

After a few minutes of scrolling like crazy on different websites and almost getting 200 viruses, I found something unusual. It was a comment, lost on a website that seems to be from the 2000's, but the person seems to know what they were talking about.

"As weird as it might sound, I come from the future. None of you might believe me, but it's true. Time travell is indeed a reality, but not everyone can retain memories of what happened before the timeline has been altered. It's similar to reseting the world. Randomly being sent back, reliving something that had already happened."

I started breathing heavily. My body couldn't move. I was scared stiff, covered in a cold sweat. It was exactly what I felt when "that" happened. The timeline being altered.

My head started to hurt from the sudden burst of information I have read.

"I...I can't stop here. I need to know..."

"The thing is that these "resets" don't happend at random. There is someone out there who managed to gain control over time, trough the use of a time machine. Pretty sci-fi, right? I wish it was all just a prank, but sadly, it's the truth. I am one of the few able to remember everything. If someone else with this sort of power happens to stumble across this comment, make sure to contact me. Maybe we could work together."

"I guess I'm way too tired. I should sleep first, then I can think about my next move."

I didn't even bother to change my clothes. I just threw myself on the bed, falling asleep as soon as my head was on the pillow.

The sun was the one to wake me up, his light hitting my face first thing in the morning. I was still half asleep when the thought of what I had read hit me like a truck. What was I going to do?

"Hmmm.... I should contact that person...what if it's a trap? What if it's a prank and I'm going trough all this trouble for nothing? No, it can't be. AAAH, DAMN IT!"

I punched my pillow as hard as I could, just to release some anger.

" I guess I should give it a try, but I'll have to be as careful as possible. I won't tell him directly who I am, but I'm still going to interact."

I gathered all my courage. First things first, I had to check that user's profile. There should be a way for me to contact them.

I was right. I sent an email to that person, telling them only that I had information. It was now time for me to wait until I would get an answer.
