Two Vincents meet each other

"Did you hear the legend about that one-star reviewer?"

"Yeah! There is a rumor that all the one-star reviews are all from the same person!"

"Who would believe that! There is no way one person can write so much! This reviewer would need to spend most of his time every day doing it. Do you think a person like this could exist?"

"Everything is possible in the current world."

While the two high-schoolers were talking, the legend among readers ended writing his next one-star review.

"Huff, this job is tiring! I can't believe writing a good one-star review can take so much work!"

If someone saw the man on this that was sitting on this chair, they would be surprised enough to get a heart attack!

Everyone who believed the rumor imagined a fat, short, covered in sweat nerd in glasses. Their imagination isn't actual anymore! After going through this ugly cocoon, a beautiful butterfly came out! Slim, tall, and handsome butterfly!

"Sigh, I changed a lot since I started helping my favorite novel. Don't worry Mr. Shield and Jumping Girl! I've got your back!"

This person who destroyed a carrier of countless authors was doing all this for his favorite web novel!

"New chapter is being released in two hours, I have enough time to write a review on another shitty novel that can't compare! After it, it will be my 2000 review this month. How the time flies."

This evil yet the beautiful mind of his was reading all the novels and getting the bad things out of them, making him review them negatively. Somehow, even when his expertise in reviewing became the best in the world, he still couldn't see a single flaw in 'Mr. Shield and Jumping Girl fighting bad guys - authentic story'.

"Ugh, I can't wait any longer! I can stop writing one-star reviews for a moment, I will just reread 'Mr. Shield and Jumping Girl fighting bad guys - authentic story' and give an honest review."

With trembling hands, Vincent started reading this perfect novel called 'Mr. Shield and Jumping Girl fighting bad guys - authentic story'

In the beginning, everything seemed normal. He was excited as always and read every word with great interest. He searched for hidden meanings, explored the connections between the characters, cried while reading their backstory, and so on.

Only later did something weird happened. When he reread the entire story, a new chapter appeared out of schedule. He was overjoyed and started reading once again. At first, he noticed nothing, but after reading around ten thousand words, he noticed this chapter was too long.

"Weird. Is it some kind of mass release? Usually, chapters have 1200 words. Maybe it's a surprise that the author prepared for me!"

After creating this excuse, he read for hours, but there was no end to this chapter. The plot was still progressing, but its quality fell. Characters weren't the same and became eviler.

"No! It's impossible! It must be a mistake."

Vincent read more to see a great comeback of his heroes, but suddenly the story ended, and there was only an image of a truck at the end.

"What's wrong? Why is this truck moving? Why does it have -kun written on it? Wait, it's getting bigger!"

The image was getting more vivid as seconds passed. He covered his head with his hands to survive this situation.

Meanwhile, somewhere in another world, in a giant mansion, an evil-looking middle-aged man was doing some weird moves with his hands. He had dark hair, red eyes resembling these of a beast, his hands were so long and slim that they almost seemed unnatural. He was wearing an elegant suit. His expression was stern and serious.

At the places where his hands moved, an eerie, almost invisible string appeared. It was slowly attaching itself together until finally a hole in the air appeared.

"Listen, my son. This is my special ability called 'Last hope for talentless children'. I created it especially for you."

The middle-aged man explained to a smaller copy of him that was looking attentively.

"Now, you must carefully listen to my instructions before you get in."

The son nodded as soon as he heard.

"Good. When you enter, look carefully around you. Inside this mind space, you will probably experience a lot of weird things. All of them shouldn't attack you, but rather tempt you to touch them. You can't do it! As long as you can stay there for an hour, your talent will increase greatly! I can use this ability only once, there won't be a second chance!"

The son nodded again, let out a sigh, closed his eyes, and jumped inside.

"Good luck, Vincent. It's a pity I can't watch how you are doing. I can only hope you are safe."

As soon as the boy disappeared, the expression of this middle-aged man changed to a caring one.

Inside of the 'Last hope for talentless children', the son of the middle-aged man, Vincent, looked around and saw a lot of memories from his life. At first, there were only his memories from before. He had the urge to touch them, but it wasn't strong.

He walked a few meters further and saw himself in moving images that he never experienced. These images were trying to suck him in.

Vincent observed them carefully, he was curious about this technique that his father used.

"This surely is hard. I've only been here for a few minutes, yet, it's so hard to resist these temptations."

These images had things that each human, consciously or unconsciously, craved for at some moment in life.

"Wait, what is this? There is a road here? Why is it so weird?"

Vincent came onto the road that was built from a weird material he never saw before.

"What is written here?"

He looked at the green sign with the word 'highway' written on it.

"Something is coming!"

Vincent suddenly heard a sound of a truck approaching. He didn't know what it was, but his gut was telling him that it was extremely dangerous.

"Wait, father said that nothing can move here!"

A cold shiver went down his spine as he looked at a giant thing that was quickly approaching him. In a hole inside of this thing, he could see a scared ghost that seemed to shout something he couldn't understand because of the great distance between them.

As the truck got closer, he could finally understand what this ghost meant.

"Get out of the way! Quickly! I can't control this truck!"

I hope you enjoyed this chapter :) Vote for me in this contest if you liked it. I will try to release 2 chapters around 1k words every day.
