2 chapter 2 My fate

I woke up early in the morning ate what i could and left the house. I went straight to the clan's academy entrance, and it seems like i wasn't the only impatient person. Their was already over seventy people waiting.

As i waited patiently i observed my fellow clansmen. Just about all of them had the light blue hair but their was a few that had light green hair. Most of them were a mix breed of merman and human. So a majority had blue/green scales on their body. I'd say about 60% of them were of that mix while the rest were human, beast men, hairymen, and mushroom men.

Very quickly almost 300 people showed up and out of all of those people i only saw 3 other people who still had a truth shines gu, but unlike me they had their mouths shut with cloth. Well thats one way not to lie i guess, in all honesty I'm surprised peoples parents didn't do that to everyone else.

As i was thinking so i felt an overwhelming pressure over come me, and i wasn't the only one too. As everyone else went quiet, everyone's attention then got directed towards the only person speaking. It was a green scaled and haired human merman hybrid woman. The pressure was coming from her, after spending so many years around gu masters i could tell she was rank 5.

???[ good morning my Hu clansmen, to those who don't recognize me i am Helan]

Helan? She's the clan leader of the Hu clan. This is my first time seeing her but I've heard many good things about her.

Helan[ today we're gathered here for an important day. The day that some of you will begin your cultivation journey, and do not be disparage if you do not awaken. Their are still plenty of ways to live a better life in our clan and for the clan.]

No no shes right 'for the clan' that is the clans mentality.

Helan[ and the person who will guide you through the start of your gu master journey is none other than madam Fose. I'll let her take over from here.]

A pretty woman then took the stage, she had long light blue hair and green scales on the side of her face, but what made her stand out was the fact she had a truth shines gu on her forehead. An adult able to use truth shines gu..... thats a first for me to see.

Fose[ hello everyone my name is Fose, and i am the academy elder. I will be in charge of all the newly awakened gu masters, but I'm sure everyone just can't wait to get started. So clan leader if you may]

Helan nodded her head, and once again i could feel her rank 5 aura activate, and i could feel the temperature lower as a shadow came over me i looked up at the sky to see a large milky white body of water that had thousands of shiny glimmers.

God... dam, and here i thought we were going to go to a hidden secured location. She brought the freaking spirit spring to us. As i was thinking the spirit spring descended upon us all. It quickly covered us from our feet to our waists.

I could feel a warm energy enter near my navel, as i looked down i could see little rays of light enter me. These are the famous hope gu, in this world its still used to awaken apertures. Yet this reminds me that in this world their is no legends of ren zu.

As i was lost in thought i felt something solidify and take form. I tried my hardest to focus on what had formed and in no time i was inside of a spherical container that was slowly filling up with a jade green essence. From 10% to 30% and after it reached 35% it started to go slower, till it reached 50% only then did it stop increasing.

A c grade talent..... i can work with that. It's definitely better than nothing, c grade talent is average anyways so theirs nothing wrong with that, because with this i have hope. A few minutes after i awakened my aperture the spirit spring was lifted into the sky once more. Leaving some clansmen on their knees crying while the rest stood with faces of pride, some more than others.

Fose[ those who have awakened please line up in front of me to report your grade. So that we can place you in the appropriate class.]

We did as she said and i could now see how many people actually awakened their aperture. From the nearly 300 people only about 150 had awoken their aperture. Half not bad but not good either, but the Hu clan is a large sized clan that is constantly having more clansmen born to make up for any losses of gu masters. The line might have been long but it quickly shortened and before I knew it it was my turn. Fose looked at me with an amusing look and asked.

Fose[ what is your name, grade, and primeval sea level?]

Shu[ greetings elder Fose, i am Shuidi Zhide Hu c grade talent with a primeval sea level of 50%.]

Fose[ alright i have your information written you'll be in class 6 starting in the beginning of the new week, and one more thing now that you have a aperture you can always put truth shines gu in it in times of danger, but remember truth shines gu can only be away from your body for about an hour before it starts to starve.]

Ah that must be why she didn't inspect my aperture, since truth shines gu is on my forehead proving I said no lies.

Shu[ thank you for telling me elder Fose]

I bowed my head and left, making my way back home. Where father and his wife were waiting for me.

Shu[ this one greets his uppers.]

???[ did you awaken your aperture?]

The one who spoke was my father's wife, my step mother. She was a human merman hybrid with green hair, eyes and scales to match, and with slightly tan skin in my old world she would be considered a model.

Shu[ i have indeed awoken my aperture, i am a c grade talent with a primeval sea level of 50%.]

Father[ that is good you'll be able to be a gu master.]

Stepmom[ yes but with his grade all he'll ever reach is rank 2, but at least his value has increased. I'm sure we won't even have to look for a wife for him, eventually they'll come to us with marriage proposals.]

After she said that i could see my father get a little bit sad. Im sure he wanted to say something but he can not, she is head of our little branch family. My father is rank 2 upper stage while she is rank 3 middle stage. They are simply not equals

Father[ you can leave now, you should try to learn how to control your primeval essence before you go to the academy.]

With that done i returned to my room, that woman really does not like me. Once i marry someone I'll be marrying into their household and leaving hers, im sure thats what she wants. That and the fact anyone who wants to send marriage proposals will also send "gifts" aka resources. In my eyes shes basically selling me away.

Well its not like i plan on accepting any marriage proposals, i still have a choice after all, but once i do she'll probably kick me out the house. Don't get me wrong I'd love to have a beautiful wife, but by doing so it will limit my growth. I'll have to contribute my earned money to the family and take care of the household and any children. Thus impacting my cultivation time, so hopefully before she kicks me out I'll be strong enough to live on my own.

I stepped into my rest room where i saw myself in the mirror. It had been a while since i last looked at myself. In this world i was just human from what i could tell. I had my fathers light blue hair, but unlike him i had it in a ponytail. I had lighter green eyes than him though, currently i was about 5'9. I also had thin eyebrows that made me look constantly mad since i don't smile, and lastly i had inherited my fathers pretty boy face. You'd think I'd like that but really by now I've grown indifferent to it. The last thing about me that separated me from my father was that my skin was a bit tan. Since i was constantly traveling i was always exposed to the sun.

Soon the week ended and i started going to the academy. Class 6 the class i was placed in had 22 students including me. After two weeks of being in this class i had learned some things about my similar aged students. This years batch had two grade A geniuses and four B grade talents, while the rest of us were c and d grade talents.

I also learned that their was only 6 classes in our age bracket. So those 6 talents were separated into each 6 classes. In our class we got a B grade talent hairy man, and everyone in the class were heavily kissing up to him, well everyone but me. As i was thinking this our teacher finally said something that caught my attention.

Teacher[ now that you all have been given a few weeks to learn how to control your primeval essence. It is time for you to get your first gu.]

At this statement all the kids cheered.

Teacher[ now which girls don't want to have woman's touch gu.]

Woman's touch gu..... the gu that changed the gender roles in this world. Apparently their was a female cultivator who was born into a sexist clan where women were degraded. Once she was strong enough she left the clan, hoping to find better places else where, but the gu world is cruel. It was worse out there on her own, but she was able to grow in those difficulties till she reached rank 6.

As an immortal she hoped things would be different, but they got worse. As the number of female immortals was less than 1/4, with many clans wanting her to marry into their clan. She chose to cultivate on her own till she reached rank 9 becoming the peak of this world. With her ability she created a unique gu called woman's touch gu and spread it across the world.

A gu that accumulates yin energy in a womans body and can be used when the gu master is attempting to reach a higher rank. Increasing the odds of breaking through, but this gu must become the vital gu and has to accumulate enough yin energy to breakthrough.

This is why this gu changed the gender roles in this world. As a d grade talent that was only normally able to be a rank 1 gu master could now breakthrough into rank 2 and a c grade talent could now breakthrough into rank 3. Even B grade talents could now breakthrough like an A grade genius, but with enough time they all have the potential to breakthrough into higher realms. It makes me wonder what must the immortal realm cultivators be like.
