Reverend Insanity: Nature's Dominion Venerable

A 'realistic' portrayal of what would happen if a person of our word transmigrated to Reverend Insanity. It is a story of how the protagonist develops in strength and character. *** This is my first time actually writing something, plus English is not my first language, so there can be a lot of mistakes.

A/N: First of all, I'm sorry for not uploading for so long, but I felt like I wrote myself in a corner within 3 chapters. So I decided to rewrite it. This time, I will try to put much more thought into it. So I hope it won't happen again. Also, the protagonist won't try to become the Avatar, as I felt that I could not pull it off. Anyway, happy reading.

The sun was high up in the sky. It was shining so brightly that everyone could not miss it.

The birds were flying and chirping, enjoying the warm morning breeze.

The waves at the beach were gently moving. The people in the village were working hard.

Everybody was doing something; some were fishing, others were getting ready to swim to other islands. Practically, everyone was working or getting to work; only very old or otherwise young children were doing 'nothing'.

But even though they did something, the elderly were gossiping with each other or not letting other people work by telling them of their past and how they were doing everything wrong.

And the kids were running around, playing various games and just being kids.

It was very peaceful, and the place looked beautiful. But that very beauty was destroyed by a single person.

A child who wasn't playing with other children or doing something, to be precise. He was simply lying on the ground under the tree's shadow.

He was an outliner of everything you thought a child typically would do. An anomaly, you could say.

The boy rarely interacts with anyone and only relaxes under a shade if he can. Suddenly, from a nearby group of running kids, a single girl spots a sleeping boy under a tree.

"Big brother Feng, stop sleeping and play with us!" cutely shouted a little girl to a kid who was almost snoring.

You can tell that this wasn't the first time this happened, as the other children were already trying to stop her without waiting for a response from the 'Big Brother Feng'.

"Why are you still trying to invite him?"

"You know that he started to ignore us."

"Yeah"

The girl obviously knew that, so she just replied.

"I know, I just thought that maybe this time he would play with us and not be lazy for once." and suddenly she added with strong conviction, "I also know that he must have become shy; that's why he doesn't play with us anymore."

She then started to nod, like she had unraveled a big secret. The other children, looking at her face, started to feel the same.

"Is it true?"

"It could be, right? Once I saw him talking to some adults, but when we try to speak to him, he doesn't replay or talk." added one boy.

"Let's invite him then!"

The other girl from the group abruptly said, "But Mei Ling, even if it's true, we will never play with him if he doesn't talk to us."

"Yeah, if he doesn't speak with us again, then we won't speak with him."

"Agreed"

Suddenly, the situation got out of hand pretty fast. At first, they tried to talk to him, and without any reason, in the next second, they would never talk to the boy under the tree if he didn't talk to their fist.

"No! That's not what it means to be shy. My mother told me that if a person is shy, he must be afraid to speak with someone." declared Mei Ling as she quickly cast a glance at the boy to see if he noticed them speaking.

From the group of children, a chubby boy started to talk nervously.

"Even if that is true, he still must come himself to us if he wants to play."

The group of children didn't know exactly what being shy is, even with an 'explanation' so they still wanted the boy to come to them as this was 'beneath' them to try over and over without success.

"Alright, you guys can go and play by yourself then, and I'm going to try to make him speak with us!" Mei Ling, with slightly red cheeks, ran over to the sleeping boy after finishing talking.

"If that's what she wants,. Let's go and play hide and seek!" said the girl who started the whole situation.

"Alright, then you are the seeker!" the other boy quickly shouted and sprinted off.

The other kids did the same, as they didn't want to be the seekers.

"Wait, no!" She shouted and then mumbled, "I wanted to hide."

Under the tree's shade, there was a boy lying on the ground. He had beautiful blue eyes like sapphires and long brown hair.

He wasn't sleeping like others thought but simply resting. He enjoyed sunny days because he was a child and wasn't forced to work.

So he can simply be lazy all day and watch the clouds. It was like vacation for him—no work, no responsibilities and especially no studying.

'What a good life. I can be used to this.'

'It is nothing like my previous world. It's like a paradise,' the boy thought.

Probably everyone could have guessed it by now, but if not, he isn't a native of this world; at least the soul wasn't.

He came to this word quite recently. Originally, he was a university student trying to get a diploma and find a high-paying job. But once again, he is a kid, enjoying a carefree life.

All of a sudden, he heard a rustle from the nearby bush and opened a corner of his eye.

He saw a small kid trying to sneak up to him and he got an idea to scare her. So he waited until she got closer and talked.

"What are you doing here, Mei Ling?"

*Hieeek*

A surprised yelp could be heard as the girl fell.

"Why did you scare me? You can't do that to a lady!" yelled Mei Ling as she brushed her blond hair from her face and started staring daggers at him.

"Why did you try to sneak up on me?" he asked back

Her scarlet eyes widened in shock.

"What... what are you... you talking about?" stuttered Mei Ling while trying to avoid his eyes.

He gave her a weird look and said, "Well, it looked like you were hiding in a bush and were trying to sneak up on me."

"I never tried to 'sneak up' on you." doing air quotes while saying sneak up "You must be imagining things anyway; I need to go."

Immediately after Mei Ling finished talking, she ran off to the distance with an embarrassed look. She was so surprised that she forgot her original plan and tried to go as far as possible from here.

"That was something," he mumbled.

After that whole ordeal, he went back to relaxing and thinking about his current world.

'Hmm... from my time here, I learned that my name is Hai Feng and I don't have parents so I am basically an orphan. Well, not exactly as a village chief; let's sleep in his home. I heard that my father is from another island and my mother died while giving birth to me.'

'I also learned that I'm 10 years old so it's still quite far from the age I need to start working. It's definitely a paradise.' with a small, visible smile, thought Hai Feng.

'From my observations, I probably transmigrated to some world of ancient China or something. The question is: do I want to use my knowledge to become successful and famous or to simply enjoy life on this island when I grow up?'

'Anyway, it doesn't matter right now; I'm going to get some sleep.

***

In the late evening, as the sun was setting down and everyone was going home,. From the dock, hurriedly ran an old man to the village center and yelled.

"Everyone, I just heard that the nearby island village was raided!"

The news immediately made every person panic and raise questions with the old man.

"Really?!"

"It can't be!" one shouted.

"Will they come to us next?"

And as the panic grew, an old, authoritative voice could be heard.

"Silence! Yong Yan did they got raided by bandits or someone else?" the village chief asked the old man.

"Elder, all I heard is that they got raided. But what is even worse is that their leader presumably is a Gu Master!" with a very scared look, answered Yong Yan.

After he stopped talking everyone was shocked and a deathly silence took place. In this group of people, only young children didn't know what 'Gu Master' entailed so they weren't as scared as the adults; instead, what they feared was the raid that took place.

All the kids were like that.

All but one.

He was also deathly silent, with fear so strongly showing on his face that one could think he saw a ghost. In fact, what he heard was even worse.

'No. It can't be, right?'

'But he did say Gu Master, didn't he? So doesn't that mean that this world...'

'Is the world of...'

'Reverend Insanity!'
