Reverend Insanity: Experiment N.001

Two men are standing in a windowless office dimly lit by a small lamp on the ceiling. "Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!" "That was the last group we had!" "They were supposed to be top-of-the-line superhumans. Demons in human skin!" "How does this make any sense!" ~ Scientist Port Till(the head scientist of 'Interdimensional Travel') "If I don't produce results soon! then I'm going to be 'fired'!" ~ In this business 'fired' was code for getting wiped from history and his head was starting to develop bold spots. "U-um Sir. If I may interject." ~ Sim Art his Assistant spoke up. "What!" ~ One could hear the clear rage in Port's voice. The Assistant swallowed and loosened his necktie ~ "Technically that wasn't our last group..."

An introduction to 005

A huge creature with a heavy resemblance to a mythical troll: The long lank body, pointy ears, teeth like saws, and pale skin, stood in front of Mother and Valk with a suit embalmed with many key cards and a badge with the word 'Security' etched into it.

The Troll nodded its head before turning with a wave of his hand, indicating for them to follow him. They were headed for room 005, otherwise known as 'The Enduring'.

As they walked to the room Valk opened up his tablet, giving himself a short briefing on the person numbered as 005.

Experiment 005: Former

First ability: Deep connection to beasts.

This ability allows him to connect to beasts neurally, giving him perfect control over them. Reports, however, show that the more connections he makes, the harder it is for him to control each one proficiently.

During his second awakening, he went completely insane, making every scientist in the room screech before they massacred one another. It is speculated that his second awakening gave him the ability to connect to humans as well, either that or he's been hiding that he could do that all along.

The room was then sealed off before poisonous gas was released killing him.

End.

Raising an eyebrow, Valked looked to the top of the page on the tablet, noticing the words 'former' added to 'Experiment 005'. With a light sigh, he went to the search bar and looked for information on the current experiment 005.

However, he was cut short, for they were already in front of room 005. The first thing he noticed was that the usual steel doors had been replaced with bamboo doors. Valk lifted his head to question why, but a voice from the other side snappily interrupted him.

"Steel, titanium, poisonous gas. Not a single attempt to contain me has worked. Which poses the question, why have you interrupted my training and why have you come to my domain?"

Valk's eyebrows twitched as he shouted back, "Your Domain? This place is owne..."

Mother with a snap of her fingers, brought back Valk's attention, causing him to shut up, before she explained, "We plan on talking with 004 and decided it best if you came with us."

A brief pause commenced, followed by the air growing heavy. The ground began to shake, the air felt denser, and the metal walls surrounding the bamboo door began to buckle as if being twisted by a giant before they were released followed by a longwinded sigh, "004, otherwise known as the slug demon . . . Sure."

The bamboo door began to peek open with a pair of glowing eyes peering through and a voice that felt hazy, but at the same time carried weight with it, "However, forgive me if I'm wrong, he should only be awake in about two more weeks?"

Mother nodded while adding, "Yes, but there's also a second reason for coming. What do you know about 001?"

His eyes squinted as he pulled open the door, revealing a naked man covered from head to toe in scars. The sheer amount of cuts along his body made it difficult to find a place that was not brutally scarred. Prior to replying, his eyes slowly moved to the large troll causing it to take a step back in fear. "001 is like a lost swarm of fish, his mind is unwell. If you've come here to ask me to kill him, I'll have to politely refuse."

As he finished his sentence a pained expression grew on both Mother and Valk's faces. This led to him wanting to ask what happened, when Valk interrupted his thoughts, "Why exactly wouldn't you kill 001?"

005 paused to look up at the roof as if he could see the sky, admiring the beauty of the stars, while recounting, "It's a simple story really, can probably fit in three paragraphs."

"As a child, me and my brother would tussle around a lot, one day my brother and I got into quite the scuffle. I don't quite remember what it was about, but it was probably something stupid like who gets to sit on mom's lap. I remember he punched first, and I continued from there. Dad was watching in the background dragging a bottle of beer, cheering us on. I fell to the ground from one of his punches and low and behold there was a brick on the ground. And in the next moment, I was standing over my brother, bleeding profusely from his forehead."

"Thankfully he didn't die, however, I learned that day, that taking a life can happen in an instant, with no forewarning."

"When I was 15, my mother was in the hospital from a concussion that she got from father who got drunk and hit her too hard. I got so angry that I went to one of his drawers and pulled out a gun before coming to him in the living room. He was crying louder than I had ever heard him cry before, but I was too angry to notice, so I threatened to shoot him in the head. He didn't quake in fear instead he approached me, yelling, 'Do it! You'd be doing me a favor!'"

"I didn't pull the trigger on the gun, but in my heart, I had killed him. That day I learned killing out of anger makes me no more a monster than the person I want to kill."

"When I was 18, the doctors came to me saying, 'It is unlikely that my mother will ever reawaken from the damage to her brain. Pulling the plug would be a mercy'. At first, I had denied doing it adamantly. But after this went on for months, I finally gave in. I had agreed to do it the next week, however, within the next three days, she had woken up. It was like a miracle had happened. I came to her a sobbing mess. All I could think to myself was, 'If I had pulled that plug three days earlier, I would have lost my mother.'"

"That day I learned that life is precious, a gift that can't be replaced."
