1 Reincarnation

Southern Border, Xiao Yue Mountain

The sun was shining brightly overhead. Overlooking the window, the mountains in the distance were hard to see due to the piercing sunlight. Wolf howls, however faint, could be heard constantly.

The light in the room was dim, illuminated solely through the barely translucent curtains, a teen in blue robes sat cross legged on the bed. Slowly, his closed eyes opened as he breathed out, his body relaxed and he let himself lean backwards till he was laying down.

'I am finally Rank 3,' Bei Cai mulled over it inwardly, it did not feel too different, except for the superior quality of his constantly replenishing primeval essence. There wasn't the rush of excitement to try out his strength right away, he was unsure if that was because he was somewhat tired or because, 'it was… too easy.'

It didn't feel right playing the first run with cheats. But there was no reason to do things the hard way when not needed. Rank 3, apparently the stage where he finally had the strength to explore the wilderness alone, away from the town, without constantly being in danger of losing his life. Honestly though, he had no plans to leave so fast in the first place.

He was a college freshman on Earth, sporty, and liked reading Webnovels. He had barely managed to come out of his depression and feel alive once again after finishing highschool, but when he went to sleep after re-reading Reverend Insanity, he found himself waking up in the body of a newborn, crying. His first guess was, 'Oh! The reincarnation cycle is real!' But soon he saw some marvellous displays of magical abilities. Being an avid reader of fantasy, he did not find it too hard to believe that he had been isekaid, so he decided to observe the situation and do what anyone with a decent IQ in his place would do, act like the baby he had become.

It had been a little more than 16 years since he had been reincarnated in the Gu World, as an infant in a large clan with two Rank 5s. The current clan leader was his mother, Bei Shi, a Rank 5 initial stage Gu master proficient in Enslavement path while his father, Bei Fu, was a Rank 4 middle stage Gu master proficient in refinement path, who died soon after successfully refining a rank 5 Slavery Gu for his mother.

His grandfather, Bei Yuan, was the previous clan leader, a peak stage Rank 5 Gu Master proficient in enslavement path, who had retired when his mother became a Rank 5 middle stage Gu Master.

These past few years, he had been training in martial arts so that he would not have to waste his time on that after becoming a Gu Master, while gathering as much information as he could about the current state of the world and his surroundings.

From the caravans that often stopped by Bei Clan Town, he found out information about Shang Clan, Gu Yue Clan and many others. By cross checking some events with the book, and seeing as Gu Yue Bo was still young and not the Clan Leader, he came to know that he had been reincarnated around 40 years before Fang Yuan was born. Same generation as Shang Yan Fei and Wu Ji, who were still young and not the clan leaders.

After awakening, he was found to have one of the Ten Extreme Physiques, the Carefree Wisdom Heart Physique.

'However, everything exists in balance; I need to deal with the danger of an extreme physique too. I have to become a Gu Immortal as soon as possible, but that will require a rank 6 wisdom path gu,' Bei Cai recalled the information from the book. 'I could have exchanged information of certain inheritances with Gu Immortals in exchange for a wisdom path immortal gu, but they will probably just capture and soul search me,' he frowned at that, having no power to ensure a fair deal was truly a tragedy. He did not like to be in this position, but then again, probably no one did.

He did not waste a single day as he cultivated and improved himself by learning about the Refinement and Enslavement path while reviewing his past life's memory of the novel. No doubt, wisdom path Gu worms and his physique helped a lot in recalling and processing information. After 1 year of hard work, and utilising some of the knowledge from the book, he was able to improve greatly and be hailed as a genius seen rarely in centuries.

Because of the advantage of his physique, he was able to focus more on learning about wisdom path and others, instead of having to spend most of his time cultivating. He had started deducing useful recipes from the book, there were some like Eating One's Words Gu and Four Flavours Liquor Worm Gu which had their recipe explained, while some were like Human Skin Gu and Moving Perspective Cup Gu with some things missing or unconfirmed, where he needed to do some experiments and deduce them.

These could only be left till later, he had to work on the things efficiently, his plans were big, needing a huge influence, force and strength before Fang Yuan's rebirth. Stopping his train of thoughts, Bei Cai closed his eyes again as he began to inspect his aperture properly.

Multiple Gu worms could be seen floating in his Primeval sea, some Rank 1 and Rank 3, with most being Rank 2. The most notable among them was the Rank 2 Mind Shock Gu, his Vital Gu. Other important ones being Sneak Attack Gu, which he refined after many deductions by referring to his father's refinement path inheritance and the clan's, as well as using the book's knowledge; Soul Mist Gu, Bei Clan's popularly used soul path gu to nourish and strengthen one's soul, even though it wasn't their own creation; and Predict Beast Attack Gu, Bei Clan's signature gu worm.

Every large clan had their own signature Gu worms, Bei Clan naturally had some too. Predict Beast Attack Gu was a wisdom path Gu worm which could assist a Gu Master in battles and even allow Gu masters to indirectly investigate their surroundings, alerting them of any approaching beasts. This Gu played a major part in the combat system of Bei Clan Gu Masters, and also helped in improving their abilities.

Without this Gu, the clan would have suffered much more losses in their missions and against beast tides. The Gu Masters' abilities wouldn't be as high as now, because when one used this Gu frequently, they would be able to learn and be familiar with how different beasts fought, effectively allowing them to develop countermeasures and harvest more spoils after defeating the creatures.
