Reverend Insanity: Bald Senior

Originally from modern-day America, a random high schooler appears in his favorite novel Reverend Insanity with the twist of perfect attainment in every path. But can mere talent be all it takes to reach the top? Read as the protagonist deals with schemes, weakness, and inexperience and tries to get to the top. After all what good is talent when you have no means to use it? -This is a different take on Reverend insanity compared to most of the other fanfics out there where I try to show character development in the protagonist while also making him strong. -Expect the protagonist to often fail but also learn from his mistakes and mature as a gu master. -please be patient with me in grammar because English isn't my first language. But I will try to make each and every chapter the best I can.

Sword Formation

Sword Formation

As I laid back down to plan, I quickly assessed my strengths and weaknesses. According to memory, my peak rank 2 cultivation was at a bottleneck for the last five years.

My brows furrowed when I noticed my primeval sea was only sitting at 25%.

That's barely enough to activate my defensive gu worm 8 times.

Over the years this body managed to gain a few more strength paths gu like lion strength gu and cheetah strength gu sadly they were all ranked 1 so my physical strength although powerful could do nothing against a rank three.

Even if I had rank three physical strength I would still need a method to protect myself from the trauma of using said strength.

That coupled with my low primeval essence it's a wonder how this guy managed to run away for this long.

Upon reinspecting my memories it seems that he stole them during an especially bad bandit raid and used the chaos to make his escape.

He also raised the rank of several gu worms like the stone skin gu the nourished belly gu and the formation core gu to rank 2.

Other than the formation path gu worms he already had, he managed to steal a rank three formation sword gu, another rank three primeval essence elder gu, and lastly a rank three amplify gu.

Although he could have chosen better gu to steal in my opinion he did his best with the knowledge he had.

And the most important part of all these gu is they are part of the only killer move in his inheritance.

Killer Move: Sword Formation

Judging by this guy's ordinary attainment it would have taken him at least three days to set up the formation and with just the measly 30 pieces of primeval stones in his possession he would only be able to activate it once and maybe launch a dozen attacks.

All these calculations came to me as naturally as breathing. As if on instincts I knew all the ins and outs of the formation capable of making deductions on how everything would turn out.

It seems my formation path attainment is also very high.

I tried to modify the formation a bit and something spectacular happened.

I suddenly had countless inspirations flowing into me on how to make this formation better. At first, by adding gu worms I didn't even have, recipes for said gu worms then, new ways to make use of the dao marks around me to boost the power of the formation.

I was once again overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information coursing through my head.

After a while, I was able to control this weird power I had and focus it on just the formation and my available gu worms

Originally the formation used only four gu worms formation core gu, formation barrier gu, formation sword gu and rank 3 amplify gu.

With but an instant of deductions I managed to incorporate formation cloak gu as well as rearranging the entire formation.

The new formation can reach rank four power and even with the small amount of energy, I'll be able to dish out dozens of attacks before running out of fuel.

Because of the integration of the formation cloak gu, it's unnoticeable to anyone who doesn't have a rank three investigation gu.

As I was putting the last touches on the improved formation I heard a voice from what I assumed to be this village's leader.

"Sir gu master, may I come in? I have the breakfast you requested last night"

Yes, before he passed in his sleep this body's previous owner asked for some breakfast in the morning.

"Yes, You can come in"

I was a bit surprised by my voice upon hearing it properly this time. It was scratchy and dry as if I'd had a terrible flu all my life.

That didn't stop the village head however as he and two other villagers came in with a basket of fresh fruits and a bit of meat and bread.

As they bowed their heads and turned to leave I told the leader to wait as I'm sure with the enmity I accrued from the caravan they are bound to send people after me.

"Is there a cave near this village?"

"Y-yes my lord there is one right behind it actually"

"Good, clear the space and evacuate anybody in there I have some uses for it"

Although he looked confused about why I would want a cave to myself he didn't question me and went to accomplish my orders.

In this cruel world of big fish eating small fish, most mortals realize that shouldn't offend gu masters lest they get killed over a trivial matter.

Though if it came down to it I doubt I would have the resolve to kill him after all I was just a simple high schooler but an hour ago.

After finishing my breakfast I painfully came out of the tent I was in.

Unfortunately, I didn't have any healing gu worms, and although I had deduced many healing gu recipes over breakfast I sadly lacked the gu materials to refine them.

I stopped a villager and asked for directions they then helped me find directions to the cave that the village head talked about and that is where I found the village head instructing a few people to move what looked like supplies out of the cave.

"If gu masters come looking for me tell them to come to this cave," I said as I approached the cave. As I chose the spot to start building my formation I ran into a slight problem.

Although I know perfectly everything there is to know about the formation and the gu used in the formation, the simple fact is that I've never built a gu formation before, leading to multiple failures in the beginning.

It's like although you have the step-by-step guide to building a Lego car you can still make mistakes along the way and put one piece in the wrong place back on earth that wouldn't mean much but in this world, the slightest mistake can cause the formation to fail to give me a backlash in the forms of injuries and accelerated fatigue.

It took me several hours and multiple breaks to finally finish the formation. By the end of it, my breath came out in short but heavy bursts and sweat was pouring all over my skin. I sat in the middle of the formation to just breathe and rest then I heard the sound of incoming footsteps.

(End flashback)

(sorry it took so long)

"Lu Tu hand back the gu you stole from the caravan and peacefully follow us back to accept your punishment"

'Hmn to think they would only come the moment I finished setting it up'

An evil-looking smirk came to my face at their comment.

'How convenient!'

I let out a short laugh

'It seems the heavens themselves are begging me to beat them up'

"To think heaven would favor me so? Having you come only moments after I've set up my formation."

I saw everyone tense up at my words which only made my smile larger. I glanced at who I assumed was the leader of the party and met his solemn gaze with a playful one of my own.

"Please critique this small method of mine"

Killer move: Sword Formation

After I spoke the name the whole cave trembled for an instant and then the walls started to release a slight glow all around me.

The first thing I did was to block off the cave entrance with a white barrier and a moment later one of the four threw an attack on my barrier only for it to bounce off harmlessly in the face of rank 4 strength.

"It's useless, with my modifications this formation has rank 4 power"

This time everyone in the cave froze in shock.

"So long as we kill you the formation won't matter"

My eyes slightly widened in shock as I heard that and gave him a look that said 'get a load of this guy'

"Unfortunately for you, I thought of that possibility when making this formation."

As if to test my words he attacked me the next moment with a fire pellet gu. Which again bounced off an omnidirectional barrier that appeared between us.

I frowned slightly and in the next moment with the sound of a blade being released from its hilt a sword made of white energy came out of the ceiling and impaled itself right next to the guy who attacked me.

"I told you it was useless from the moment you walked in here I had already won"

As I watched them start to panic another smile came to my face. But their leader although on guard was not panicking like the rest.

"Lu Tu, to think you have this talent making a rank three formation express rank four power? Seems your old age was not wasted and you managed to reach master level attainment in the end"

His calm made me frown.

'What is this guy up to?'

I raised my guard slightly ready to deploy a dozen more barriers if needed. But he did something I didn't expect him to do.

BANG

There was a sudden shock wave from his body but besides making noise nothing seemed to happen until I saw it, no more precisely felt it. Fragments of wind path dao marks came out of that wave and before it could do anything I realized I was in trouble.

I watched as the wind path dao marks left his body and fuzed with my formation where they began to cause chaos. I felt a shock that ripped the formation from my control. Then the glow that surrounded the cave dimmed then vanished.

A confirmation of what had happened. He collapsed the formation.

As expected I was hit with a severe backlash from the collapsing formation. I was first assaulted with intense pain all over my body followed by what I assumed to be blood flowing from my eyes, nose, and mouth.

I struggled to look around to try to collect my gu worms only the formation core had survived with injuries and that was only because it was my vital gu.

With the injuries from building the formation coupled with the backlash now I was overwhelmed and almost immediately after I fainted.

---

"Heal him"

"But sir you saw his power wouldn't that be unwise?"

"The young master told us to capture him if possible, you dare disobey his orders?"

" I wouldn't dare"

As my subordinates healed him a bit to ensure he didn't die, I looked around a bit at the destroyed formation.

'He really is a talent for formation path. Maybe the young master has a way to make use of his talent.
